"The Power of the Dark Crystal" Comic Dub
Project Overview
THE FOLLOWING IS A NON-PROFIT FAN-BASED COMIC DUB! The roles in this dub are non-paid and done for free. I do not look to profit off this dub in any way, I am just a fan who wants to get it off the ground~ I hope you understand! My channel is in no way, shape, or form associated with The Jim Henson Company, and all their related media are their property.
Greetings! My name's Koopa, and I'd like y'all to join in on an epic journey~
The Dark Crystal is a Jim Henson made property originating back in 1982, with the release of the film. For years, Henson and his company toyed with the idea of a sequel to this passion project of his, even up to his unfortunate passing. However, his company wanted to continue the legacy of this amazing work, through various other mediums. Comic books, a Netflix-made prequel series, and even a few video games have been made to continue the story of the beautiful world known as Thra.
However, one of the more ambitious projects (aside from the Netflix prequel series Age of Resistance) was a sequel to the original 1982 film, named The Power of the Dark Crystal. The film, unfortunately, never got off the ground, despite moving through multiple hands (including Genndy Tartakovsky being in talks to direct at one point).
Luckily, the story did finally live on in the form of, you guessed it, a comic book series! Published in 2017 by BOOM! Studios, The Power of the Dark Crystal follows the original script, story, and characters that were going to be present in the proposed film;
Set 100 years after the Crystal Shard was reunited with the Dark Crystal, ending the threat of the Skesis, the world has gone back to its former beauty before the UrSkeks broke the Crystal... Or so it would seem. The Gelflings have unfortunately fallen into the same greed and corruption the Skesis were drawn to, with some abusing its power for themselves. Thurma, a young girl made of pure fire, arrives to the Gelfling empire, looking to save her own world, one deep within Thra lost to time, by taking a sliver of the Crystal. While her ambitions are well meaning, it does entail one, dark purpose; Shattering the Crystal once more! With the fear of the Skesis returning back on the rise, and the young girl wanting to save her world, new and old heroes must arise to save Thra, and the Crystal, once more.
I look to bring this great comic to life once more! I need actors to bring new energy to these characters. Down below are the roles that need to be fulfilled, and ideas on what the characters are like. Send in your voice clips, and lets show the world the true Power of the Dark Crystal!
P.S. Some roles have already been cast/fulfilled by friends and myself (i.e. Thurma, The Chamberlain/skekSil, and the Crystalline Eminence). Other characters not listed are very minor and will be cast by friends over time.

A young male Gelfling and deuteragonist of the story. He helps Thurma on her journey to save her people. He is very kind, caring, and straightforward. He is soft-spoken, but carries energy to his voice.
The Clans try their best- I promise! T-To keep the ways, to honor the light you restored... but... It's as if Thra itself is sick...
Thurma. I'm sorry, but I feel like... Like I know you already! Somehow.
She's... The kindest person I've met since I left home... I care for her too, a lot! But... I lied to her about something really important...
The original protagonist of the 1982 film. Now an old emperor to his people, he is kind, compassionate, and willing to do anything to save those he loves, even if it means possibly taking the role of the villain...
Get the Shard- Please, Hurry! Restore the Crystal! Kira, she... she needs the light!
All I know is... That boy, Kensho... He's the only one in years who's dared tell us something we didn't want to hear.
The Skesis, Thurma... They came so close to exterminating the Gelfling. They'd do it again in a heartbeat. Everything's that happened, all of this... it's because I want to save my people, too. And the one I love.
A witch that speaks to Thra itself, she's millenia old and has been watching over the world since the very beginning. Once tricked by the UrSkeks into giving the Crystal to them, she looks not to make the same mistake again, but will still do anything to save the world she holds dear.

Why act NOW? Stupid four-arm slothslugs! Why help those two burn the world to cinderspeck, HM!?
The former Garthim Master, skekUng became the "rightful" Skeksis Emperor after defeating The Chamberlain in Trial by Stone. Returning after the Crystal shattered once more, along with his fellow Skeksis, he looks to take control of the Crystal and Thra once more...

You DARE command Skeksis!? I am Emperor! I AM GARTHIM MASTER! That's MY sceptre!
Known amongst the Skeksis as the Ritual Master, skekZok demands attention and stops at nothing to make you know you're in his presence. He is the right-hand man to The Emperor, and speaks for him on occasion.

Give me that, worm! Crystal bats, swarm to me! Punish him! PUNISH THE CHAMBERLAIN!
The deuteragonist and love interest of the original 1982 film, Kira is the master of animals and the wife to Jen. She's sweet and kind in how she acts towards others, and wants what's best for her kingdom and husband.
Jen... What has happened to our shining world? The scrying bats see lush woodland, but there are shadows at the edges of the view...
We must see for ourselves... Hm. Then you, my love, you must be our eyes...
The Commander is the loyal right-hand man of Elder Jen. Though he may be gruff and stern, he is loyal to his king to the very end, and will stop at nothing to ensure his safety and the restoration of the Crystal. His voice is deep, authoritarian, and commanding.
ENOUGH! Acolyte Kensho- You and the Fire Girl have broken the Crystal of Truth! There is no greater crime!
Get the Elders to safety! Keep the Skeksis busy! And somebody STOP THAT FIRELING!
The Mystics, also known as the urRu, are the good halves of the Skeksis, originally one whole being known as an UrSkek. They are peaceful and likeminded.
They've been grouped as a whole as their voices are very similar to each other: Very deep, throaty, and slow-speaking. Certain actors will be chosen to play various urRu.
Let them wage their wars... Ours is the duty of reflection... Not intervention...
The world is a dream, wise Aughra... We are but its dreamers.
While only showing up for a couple issues, Kolba, Kensho's mother, is integral to the story. She helps bring inspiration to Kensho and Thurma's journey. She is sweet, motherly, and kind.
"When the mind is unclear, listen to the heart. Never forget that both are parts of the whole."
