The Legend of Zelda Fanfic Winner Narration Project

Project Overview

***NOTE*** Though this project is marked as unpaid, IT IS A PAID PROJECT. I do payment by word count rather than hours worked, which isn't an option to select on the site currently. But yes, you WILL BE PAID for your work!

In October of 2025, I held a Zelda fanfiction contest to gift the winner a full narration of their story on my channel, Rin's Legendarium! There ended up being two AMAZING submissions, and I just couldn't choose between them... so they BOTH won!

As a result of my indecision, this project will be the first of two!

Congratulations to Tetra for her incredible story and being the first to experience the magic of narration!

Here is a synopsis of her story:

The malice of Twilight and a crazed agent of darkness. The power of a Goddess, and the expectations of royalty. Join Zelda for this coming of age story to examine the trials and choices that shaped her into the leader capable of steering her people to safety. Culminating in the conflict of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, will the titular character find her light and save her kingdom? Or will self-doubt, the pressures of royal life, and the manipulation of a crazed king cast her as a true damsel in distress?

There are a total of FOURTEEN available voice acting roles, 8 of them female, and 6 of them male! One of them is the same character, just younger and older versions of them, so if you think you can swing both voices for those roles, please do apply for both!

I am SO EXCITED to bring Tetra's story to life! She wowed me with her storytelling, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

Requirements for this project:

  1. A decent mic. Try your best to minimize background noise and use appropriate gain. The usual!

  2. Have a Discord account. In order to adequately communicate with you and all of the other voice actors that will be involved, I am requiring the selectees to be added to my Discord server in a special, private channel where we can all discuss the deets! You are only required to be there for the duration of the project, and are not obligated to stay in the server! However, I hope you do stay, since we have a lot of fun in there and there are some really cool peeps! Many of them have been voice actors for me in the past, and others are fans of the channel :)

We deliberated for HOURS to choose this cast, and many of you impressed us so much, we really had to make some tough decisions! We are incredibly thankful for all of you! :) If you did not receive a role this time around, keep an eye out for future projects, because there are quite a few in the works already! I would LOVE to hear your talent again!

  • One week left!!

    HELLO BEAUTIFUL VOICES!!

    First off, Tetra and I would like to thank absolutely everyone for submitting their auditions to this project with so much enthusiasm! You guys are talented as heck and it's so fulfilling to see so many people interested in Zelda like we are! :) We've already gotten over 100 submissions in just over a week! That's INSANE! Thank you so much, we cannot show our gratitude enough!

    That being said, with so many auditions submitted, we are still lacking in the Telma role! So far only one person (Tetra herself!) has auditioned for Telma, and we want to see more! Even if you've already submitted, come back! Try for Telma! WE'RE BEGGING YOU!! XD Seriously though, we'd love to see more talent for her role, especially because she's so iconic!

    One more week left, guys! When the project closes, you'll likely know your fate within a day or two ;) Thank you again for showcasing your skills! You guys ROCK!!

  • Role update!

    We've updated Telma's role description to be more inclusive for creativity! The accent we had in mind might be a bit too obscure, so if you'd like to try for Telma's role, give us YOUR interpretation of how you think she would sound! :)

As with most of the Royal Family, young Princess Zelda has a royal British accent. There are technically TWO Zelda roles in this project since there is a time jump in the story; young Zelda (14-17 yo) to young adult Zelda (19-20 yo). If you think you can adjust your tone to match the character, but with an older voice, please apply for the young adult Zelda role as well! :)

This version of Zelda is about 19 to 20 years of age, but she is the same character as young Zelda. If you think you can swing both voices, please do apply for both! As with young Zelda, young adult Zelda has a royal British accent. The princess ALSO disguises herself as Sheik sometimes, so part of this role will include lowering your pitch a bit to account for those times. The accent can stay the same, however!

The Queen of Hyrule herself!! We don't get to meet her in Twilight Princess, unfortunately, but you'll get to meet her in this story! She has a royal British accent, and has quite the emoting range. She can flip from being comforting and motherly to strict and firm quite quickly. She is the queen after all, and must take on her obligations with grace and confidence.

Fergall, as the princess' young, protective knight, is always put together, soft spoken, and has a light British accent. He's ever faithful to the crown and loyal as they come!

Ivern, in his 40s or 50s, serves as Princess Zelda's combat trainer, and is a very important figure in her life. He is Sheikah, with a strong, firm personality. His voice is reflective of that, having the directive traits of guidance and instruction, while remaining empathetic. His accent leans generally American.

The Sheikah (ages range from 16-20 during the story), Phaedra (Sheikah name being Kaet), is young Zelda's sparring partner in training. She's also Zelda's very good friend and confidant. Phaedra's accent leans generally American, and she's quite a charmer, being confident and sure of herself.

The king of Hyrule is unlike his wife in that he's much more approachable, calming, and softer toward Princess Zelda. Though, as king, he is still a confident ruler, strong in voice and firm in law. His accent is British, and his voice is on the deeper side, but not necessarily BOOMING.

Our favorite in-game companion!!! Right?? She's your fave too, right??? :P Midna, in this story, has a similar cadence and inflection to her in-game counterpart, but her voice is not as childlike. Obviously, she'll be speaking comprehensible English words instead of garbled ones. Try to emulate her in-game voice with more of an adult tone!

One of the most evil villains to ever grace the Zelda franchise! And he's just as evil in this story, if not MORE so. We're choosing to describe his voice as "greasy." Just the grossest, most slithering voice you can imagine. Try to emulate this with super evil undertones!

It's our boy!!!!! Link is a hard voice to pin down for a lot of us, and for good reason. He's a silent protagonist for the most part, after all. But we imagine his voice in this story to be rather serious, but enthusiastic. Just don't go overboard! :P He has a medium pitch and a pleasant, likable tone. Do your best! :)

As this is Zelda's story, from her perspective alone, we thought it best to have the narrator possess a female presenting voice. This voice should be different enough from Zelda's voice as to be distinguishable, so if you also auditioned for the Zelda roles, try and make that distinction :)

  • The tunnel seemed to stretch on forever. Looking over her shoulder, Zelda wasn't able to see the light of the opening any longer, but that didn't mean they were nearing the other side yet. This was her least favorite part of the journey. She sighed again, tilting her head and giving her mother a bored look.

  • A pair of footsteps broke the relative silence of Zelda’s retreat, and she glanced over to find her favorite guardsmen bringing water and a parasol. Fergall dipped his chin and Phaedra smirked as they reached her, the former holding the parasol high enough to block the sun without making her feel too sheltered.

  • Sheik took a hesitant step forward before rushing into the room. She dove under the table, the sound of shouting echoing into the chamber from the hallway behind her and jolting her into action. She recovered quickly and crouched over her dominant leg, the other stretched out for balance. Sheik held a small throwing knife in each hand. A small part of her mind registered how naturally the knives had appeared in her hands and glowed with pride, but she pushed the bright joy down for the moment. She needed to focus.
