The Hollow Crown- Animated Series
Project Overview
In a world where magic supposedly disappeared centuries ago, a group of ordinary teenagers discover the ruins of an ancient kingdom beneath their hometown.
They accidentally awaken an ancient magical force—and discover that the kingdom didn't simply fall.
It was erased.
The deeper they investigate, the stranger things become. Ancient creatures begin appearing. Places that shouldn't exist start appearing on maps. And eventually, they discover that each of them has some unexplained connection to the kingdom.
At the center of everything is the Hollow Crown—an ancient artifact said to belong to the kingdom's last ruler.
Except...
there's no crown inside the ruins.
And something—or someone—has been looking for it for centuries.
Age: 17
Personality: Responsible, practical, stubborn, protective. She's the person who says “this is a terrible idea” and then proceeds to participate anyway because everyone else is clearly going to get themselves killed.
Big flaw: She feels like everything is her responsibility. If something goes wrong, she immediately thinks, I should've stopped this.
Character arc:
Evelyn starts out believing that being a leader means having all the answers. Her arc is learning that leadership can mean trusting other people and admitting when she doesn't know what to do.
Fun character quirk: She is really good at remembering tiny practical details.
She is a LEAD

- female teen
Annoyed: “Stellan, I swear, if you touch that again, I am leaving you here.”
Determined: “I don't know what we're supposed to do. But we're here now, and I'm not abandoning anyone.”
Shocked: “Remi... tell me that's not what I think it is.”
Age: 16
Personality: Intelligent, curious, enthusiastic, slightly socially awkward, and way too excited whenever something magical happens.
Big flaw: She tends to treat dangerous magical discoveries like fascinating science experiments.
Character arc: Remi begins believing that knowledge is the solution to everything. Eventually she has to confront situations where knowing why something works doesn't tell her what she should do about it.
Fun character quirk: She gives ancient magical artifacts extremely boring scientific names.
- female teen
Excited: “Wait, wait, wait! Don't touch it! That's an ancient magical seal!”
Serious: “Magic doesn't just disappear. Someone made it disappear.”
Completely fascinated: “Do you have any idea how incredible this is?! This civilization vanished three thousand years ago!”
Age: 17
Personality: Reckless, funny, impulsive, charismatic, and apparently powered entirely by bad decisions.
Big flaw: He uses humor to avoid taking things seriously—even when things are very serious.
Character arc:
Stellan starts out thinking that if he can make everyone laugh, everything will be okay. Eventually he has to learn that being brave doesn't always mean joking through danger.
Fun character quirk: He has an inexplicable talent for finding useful objects.
- male teen
Casual: Okay, hear me out. What if we just... don't go into the creepy glowing cave?” Immediately after: “Actually, never mind. I'm going in.”

Serious: “Guys... I think we're being followed.”
Age: 17
Personality: Quiet, observant, sarcastic, secretive. Doesn't talk much, but when she does, it's usually something that makes everyone else go:
“...What exactly do you know?”
Big flaw: She doesn't trust people easily and would rather hide information than risk someone using it against her.
Character arc:
Shady's entire problem is trust. She knows something about the ancient kingdom—but she's terrified that telling the others will put them in danger.
Fun character quirk: She isn't evil because she's edgy.
- female teen
Dry: “You know, most people see an ancient cursed doorway and decide not to open it.”
Ominous: “I've seen this place before.”
Defensive: “I didn't lie to you. I just didn't tell you everything.”
A. N. I. M. A. T. E!

Big flaw: Sometimes she's too quiet and suspicious, and no one listens to her, even if her ideas are good.
Fun character quirk: She has quite good ideas and is great at analyzing things.
- female teen
Scared: Guys...I don't think we should go in. I have a bad feeling about this. Guys! Wait!

Excited: Yay! We did it! Now we aren't gonna die! I hope...

Tessa doesn't go on the main adventure immediately. She's one of the people Evelyn knows back home, and she becomes increasingly suspicious that Evelyn is hiding something.
Personality: Cheerful, perceptive, stubborn, loyal.
Character gimmick: Tessa is really good at noticing when people are lying.
Which is... inconvenient.
- female teen
Determined: “If you're going into that place, I'm coming with you.”
Suspicious: “You expect me to believe you just happened to find an ancient underground kingdom?”
Casual: “Okay, Evelyn. You've been acting weird for three days. And before you say you're fine, remember who you're talking to.”
Age: 19
Personality: Messy, disorganized, smart. She's the kind of person who would shove all her stuff under a bed, look at her room, and go "yup, that's done."
Big flaw: She's a little bit too messy and sometimes careless.
Fun character quirk: She's good at finding hidden things and stuff like that.
- female young adult

Role: Historian / magical researcher
Elias is one of the first adults who realizes that the Hollow Kingdom wasn't merely a legend.
He's incredibly knowledgeable—but deliberately avoids telling the group everything he knows.
Personality: Calm, eccentric, clever, slightly unsettling.
Important: He isn't necessarily evil. He just has his own agenda.
- male senior

Age: 17
Personality: He's a handsome background character but is a jerk.
- male teen
Smug: According to my calculations, Stellan, you're a loser.

Very very very smug: Ah no, you're all so dumb, why do you say you're so great?

She becomes a sort of unofficial older-sister figure.
- female young adult

Ominous: “Your arrival was not recorded in the prophecy.”
Formal: “Every kingdom has a beginning. Every kingdom has an end.”
Age: Unknown
Role: Main antagonist / leader of the Hollow Court
Veyr is searching for the Hollow Crown.
He believes the ancient kingdom was destroyed because its rulers were too weak to control the magic they possessed.
His solution?
Bring the kingdom back under his control.
He isn't interested in destroying the world.
He genuinely believes he's going to fix it.
Personality: Charismatic, intelligent, patient, terrifyingly calm.

Seraphine is much more unpredictable than Veyr.
She's loyal to him, but her reasons aren't entirely clear.
She is extremely intelligent and specializes in illusion magic.

She's the villain who smiles while saying something absolutely horrifying.
- female young adult
Playful: “Oh, don't look so frightened. If I wanted you dead, we'd already be having a very different conversation.”
Quiet: “Do you know what happens when someone remembers a life that isn't theirs?”
Threatening: “You really should stop trusting strangers.”
He's the ancient ruler who supposedly disappeared when the kingdom fell.
Except his consciousness somehow survived.
He exists as a magical presence throughout the ruins.
And he knows Shady.
Not “I've heard of you.”
Not “you remind me of someone.”
He knows her.
Personality: Ancient, sorrowful, intimidating, strangely gentle at times.
- male adult
Soft: “I remember your eyes.”
Ancient: “You have returned.”
Threatening: “Leave this place.”
