The gilded pages follow the blossoming unlikely friendship between a hot-headed princess preparing to be queen, Nyala, and the commoner nerdy merchant boy, Bramble.

one of our main characters. Nyala is the speedling princess of debia, with a fierce love for fighting, and a “hit first, questions later” kind of personality. She is 20 years old, and is preparing for her coronation on her 21st birthday. She’s struggling getting a grip on diplomacy, and has quite a temper.

our other main character. Bramble is an elven merchant from the kingdom of Druiss. He is very kind and a bit of a pushover. He is fascinated by the technology of the old world, and often uses the scraps he finds to make little gadgets that he sells to people in the Druiss capital

King Rhino is the King of Debia, and Nyala’s father. Overall he’s a good dad, and a very good king, but he can be a bit protective, and recently has been getting more snippy with Nyala because of the approaching coronation, and Nyala’s refusal to behave

Someone that’s getting ready to be queen so soon should be punctual.
Queen Kudu is the Queen of Debia, Rhino’s wife and Nyala’s mother. She’s much more forgiving than Rhino when it comes to Nyala’s behavior, and wants to make sure her daughter is her own individual. She’s very kind, and is beloved by most of the kingdom.

The desert isn’t exactly the most hospitable for forest dwellers.
Prince Elephant is Nyala’s younger brother. He, unlike his sister, is very diplomatic and follows all the rules. He doesn’t like violence, unless it’s verbal violence towards Nyala, because arguing with her is one of their favorite pastimes.

Adder is Nyala’s fiancé. He adores Nyala, and would absolutely die for her. He is very levelheaded, especially compared to Nyala, but will never say no to sparring with her. He is almost Nyala’s complete opposite, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t love her.

Lasrén is the king of the dragon kingdom Ríocht. He is a good king, but a bit of a neglectful father towards his children. The exception is with his son, who he is extremely overprotective of. He’s been trying to be a better father as time goes on, but he’s still not great. However, he takes his role as king very seriously, and makes sure that the kingdom is safe and secure under his rule.

Aiden is the prince of the dragons. He is Lasrén’s golden child and heir. Aiden is very kind and diplomatic, but craves his father’s affections. He has some dog-like attributes, like how his tail wags when he’s happy. He loves his siblings, and acts like a father figure to his youngest sister. He’d do anything for the people he loved, even if it meant he’d lose his own life.

Moss is the strong willed queen of the elven kingdom Druiss. She is very stubborn, and has a no nonsense attitude. The only time she really seems soft hearted is when she’s with her children.

Ash is the king of the elves, and Moss’ husband. He’s very gentle, and is a pillar in keeping the kingdom such a utopia. He loves his kingdom, and makes sure everyone is comfortable and happy. He looks quite weak compared to his wife, but he could easily kill a man if it meant he protected his kingdom and family.
