The Games: The Series

The Games: The Series

Project Overview

This project is NOT part of a final product of any sorts! We are looking to turn a former RP into a pitch for a movie series OR a novel, but need to work out the script and whatnot first. This is where you come in! Voice actors would help us work out kinks in the dialogue by reading through provided scripts, and maybe offer input on plot or character development if they'd like!  There will be regular spams of art and writing from myself and my co-writer, and we're both fairly active if you ever need to reach out to us! Everyone will communicate primarily on discord - all applicants must be 16+. Note on accents: it does not matter, we're just going for the best voice! Feel free to try out a variety of dialects, if you'd like, though! Fae will likely have something resembling a Middle Eastern accent, Elves Scandinavian, and humans anything.

So, then - what's the premise of the story? It's high-fantasy, medieval, and there's dragons! Imagine if you mashed together Eragon, Game of Thrones, and something completely unique: such a product would be fairly accurate to The Games. There will be nine primary characters who have, intentionally or otherwise, become a dragon rider and thus thrown into a competition for the throne. Conflict between those of different backgrounds/races/status eventually leads to full-rebellion, and we have TONS of fun little scenes plotted out :) Below is the more fancy intro:

______________

After hundreds of years of strife and war between the three races in the vast lands of Wreaven - Fae, Elves, and Human - there's finally an option for peace among the kingdoms. The light at the end of the tunnel, some are calling it. There's finally hope for the desolate and war-torn land.

Perhaps it's the last.

To bring the races together, the fae have brought an egg from one of each of the nine species of dragon to the newly-decided capital, each one priceless. In hopes of creating a unified empire, there will be three of each species competing for the throne in a competition designed by the former rulers of each species, who will each serve as advisors for the new Emperor or Empress and rule their ancestral lands respectively under the rule of the leader.

Whomever the dragon eggs choose will be entered into the competition. The leader will receive the crown, and the eight runner-ups positions on the newly devised Dragon Council to support and balance out the new ruler.

Yet, there are still doubts about the plan. While it has been officially written that any commoner can come to the Bonding to try and bond with a Dragon, many believe that the competition will be biased towards those of noble descent, or that a certain race may have a plan to take control. Others have misgivings about the extended lifespan of the new riders. They say no one leader should live that long. Whispers of dissent are spreading about the Games, and it is thought there will be an uprising as soon as it begins.

Perhaps no matter what happens, Wreaven is cursed to fall into chaos.

Alazne Cordova

Role assigned to: Mia Rorah

Human -  Mid 20's - Female

A rough-around-the-edges type character, Alazne came from nothing. She was born of the Southern Delta with five younger siblings and semi-absent parents; she clawed her way out of the mud of her home, and she now works as many jobs as she can. At the moment, she's a hired guard by day and bartender by night. There's nothing she hasn't done, and she'll do whatever it takes to protect her family and people - she'll spill her own blood for them, until she's nothing but bones in the dust of the Delta.

Despite her upbringing - or, perhaps, because of it - Laz is ambitious and fiercely passionate. She dreams beyond her means, and believes strongly in a better future. A better future that she'll carve with her own two hands, if she has to.

Charismatic, honest, and magnetic, Laz will act as one of the driving characters of the storyline.

Voice: Medium or low, maybe a little rougher or even gravely? Feel free to play around with any accent - she's described to have a sort of drawl, and her grammar leaves something to be desired.

Role assigned to: Loren De Lonay

Elf-Human Hafling - Mid-20's - Female

Sol is a half-breed, and lives by the Dilling River with her mother, a working-class weaver. She is bonded to the Sun Dragon, much to her horror. Sol is stoic, lazy, intelligent, and moral; she stands as something like a pillar of ethics in the Games, and is the glue of the group. She's fairly lost in life, and has taken to wandering about aimlessly - really, she's fallen into a bit of a depressive episode, but won't admit it.

There's a sense that Sol really, really does not want to be wherever she is at any given moment. But she's not a dreamer - she prefers her feet solidly on the ground, where everything is familiar and cruelly unforgiving. With a devil-may-care attitude, Sol is ridiculously reckless, a stark contrast to that passive and watchful nature.

Voice: Medium, although it could swing any which way. She's delivers her lines, I'd imagine, with a kind of deadpan tone - she's got a wry sense of humor, but she tries to avoid overly-emoting by all means.

Role assigned to: DFlame58

Fae - 478, physically around 70 - Male

At his core, Hafiz is a warrior. Beloved by his people, and respected by all, there are tales told of his skill in battle across the Fae lands. Now, in his older age, he has trained nearly all of the promising Fae warriors, and is an active participant of the Fae court. He's fair, reserved, calm, and frightfully stubborn - it's as though he speaks from this superior moral standing that drives everyone nuts. And, he's usually right, much to everyone's chagrin.

Voice: Any, although likely low. He's eloquent, and although age has certainly made his voice a little rougher, he's still a strong speaker. He's a grumpy sort, and seems to speak as though he is very tired of all the young, stupid kids running around. There's absolutely a note of authority in his voice - he's respected, and he knows it.

Role assigned to: Vonlowe

Fae - 70's (developmentally late 20's) - Female

Evelyn came from a well-to-do Fae family on the southern coast of Ardu-Shámzi, the Fae kingdom. At thirteen, she ran off to join a band of pirates - and, was promptly dragged back. With three more escape attempts in the next ten years, eventually her parents let her leave with her uncle, a merchant who traded goods across the coast. But those early, teenage years of a short-lived life on the deck of a pirate's ship was never quite shaken, and she spent years chasing that thrill. And, for the fifth time of her life, at age forty, she left her uncle's side to join a raiding crew, under the influence of a particularly fascinating woman...

Evelyn became renowned for her skill on deck, and eventually became captain of one of the most notorious ships in the Southern Sea - but, all luck must end. She was dragged before the Fae court, and turned back out as a highly successful privateer.

Role assigned to: Banana Van

Human-Fae Halfing - Mid 20's - Female

Topaz is, at heart, a wanderer and a storyteller. Despite growing up on the Fae-human borders, she left home as soon as she could as a young teenager with dreams far too big for such a small girl.

Ever since, she's been something of a nomad, wandering the roads of Wreaven and documenting her journeys along the way in both maps and writing. Topaz has a penchant for both getting into trouble and somehow escaping out of it alive. When she's not moving, she's fighting. Tavern brawling is one of the few things that makes her feel alive, and she's somehow gotten quite good at it in recent months. It's about time she learned how to back up that smart mouth.

Much of her journey is built around grief and letting go, as well as embracing instead of running from the things that scare you most.

Voice: Clear and not particularly high. When nervous Topaz talks fast and first, thinking later.

  • (Panicked) My, uh, fiancé will be out of that stable any minute. He's a very powerful man you know. Rich! So back up a bit, eh?

  • I'm not a Creedan, if that's what you're about to ask. So don't. Don't ask.

  • I won that game, fair and square! Nonono what do you mean of course there aren't six aces?

Raiden Ashni Shappa

Role assigned to: Nic Bennett

Fae - Late 40's (developmentally early 20's) - Male

Raiden is a celebrity of sorts among his people.  Not only is he a Rain Dancer--a position of great renown and blessed by the gods for having been chosen by a Storm dragon named Semper--he's the youngest rain dancer in history.

Cocky, full of life, and a shameless flirt, Rai has a lot going for him. Being one of the few individuals in all of Wreaven bonded to a dragon, he's brought in to mentor the new riders as their dragons grow. A duty he's maybe not ready for, sure, but he can figure it out as he goes. He's particularly interested in whoever bonds to Storm--for good reason, the species is brutal to raise. If anything, that's what he expected. What he didn't expect was to get caught up in the middle of a centuries-old conflict and an even older hatred that runs between species.

Voice: With a voice that's warm and even, nothing Rai seems to say is serious.

Samlin A. Torrera

Role assigned to: Arthravis

Fae - 50's (developmentally 20's) - Male

Samlin is a visionary, and he's never once tried to hide it.

From the unnaturally lifelike tattoos of the nine dragon gods that cover his body, to the dancer's movements, to the way he speaks, Samlin is practically teeming with electricity. An up-and-coming Fae leader, most assume, he's left little doubt in anyone's mind that all he does is for the good of the Faedom. Whereas his best friend Raiden shirks from his leadership role by playing socialite, flirting, and partying, every day Samlin wonders how different things could have been if it had been him, not Rai, to bond to Semper the Storm dragon. If it had been Rain Dancer Samlin going to council meetings instead of Rai flying off on ridiculous quests in order to dodge the very responsibilities that Sam so wishes he had.

Yet, despite all of it, Samlin has remained at his best friend's side, unwaveringly loyal. Being with his friend through every step of the way as the young storm dragon grew into a much larger and much more aggressive adult, and even through a very messy public falling out with a woman, Raiden always swears they love each other like brothers.

Perhaps for Samlin, it's something more.

Voice: Samlin's voice is clear and the sort that makes others stop to listen. Interpret this how you wish!

  • All of this, Raiden, is for OUR future, why can’t you see that?

  • I was chosen for this. Rasteor himself has blessed this conquest. Has bonded to ME.

  • Dance with me, will you?

Elf - 77 (developmentally late 20's/early 30's) - Male

Orrian is the product of two wildly different words within the valley the elves call their home. Where he lies between them...he's not quite sure.

The first being the White Court--the ruling body of the elves that is, by all definitions of the word, corrupt. Not that any would ever admit it, but the elven queen is little more than a fool. Orrian was raised in those courts, by one of the most powerful elven women to mar the white marble that is the court's namesake. The cunning, the thinly-veiled threats, and the shrewd dealings come far more naturally to him than he'd like to admit. As little more than a teenager, in hopes of going somewhere-anywhere-fear didn't dance in the eyes of others when he walked into the room, Orrian joined the valley's most respected guild: that of the healers.

His training changed everything. The struggling villages in the foothills, the ones that actually were what outsiders believed the elves to be, were left to die by the nobility who viewed them as little more than wastes of resources to feed. Orrian will never forget the desperation in the eyes of the halfling that ran the village he was stationed at when they discovered his surname he had kept so carefully hidden.

Orrian went into the games expecting nothing. Why would he, of all people, bond to a dragon? But when he does bond, Orrian will do anything to ensure the White Court doesn't gain more power, even if it means playing their game that he so despises.

Voice: By nature, Orrian is soft-spoken. It was one of the few things his domineering mother wasn't able to straighten out of him. Despite it being tiresome, he can put on a damn good mask of what he's expected to sound like. Feel free to play around with this dynamic!

Human - Late 40's - Male

Arlo is a dragon hunter - by his very nature, he should not have bonded to a dragon. But alas, he has - and a Moon Dragon, at that, largely considered the most elusive of the nine species. And, funnily enough, the only breed he hasn't been able to catch. Arlo was born to a fairly comfortable working-class family, and went into hunting at around sixteen. Now, hardened by the world, Arlo is emotionally unavailable, gruff, and practical. Maybe he lost someone, long ago...

Elf - 17 - Male

Olle is a shepherd who lives in Keenan Valley with his aunt, uncle, and two sisters - and all he loves dearly. His mother and father, dedicated to their lives at the White Court, left him to live separate from his immediate family. He was an accidental child, and although his wealthy parents support him with a constant influx of food, fine jewels, and a myriad of the best tutors unbecoming of a shepherd boy, they generally keep their distance. And so, Olle has lived a rather strange life - he has worked hard, and is no stranger to long days, but he has never wanted for anything. Olle was summoned to the court for the first time a few months ago, and is assigned to follow the Elven entourage so that he may learn the ways of his mother and father before him. Olle is a thoughtful, kind, and practical character - if not for his youth, he might have made a fine leader...

Fae - 112 (developmentally around 30) - Male

Malan is the Dragonborn's apprentice, and full of promise. He was groomed to lead; as a methodical, open-minded individual, it seems he's a good candidate for the throne. Malan is magnetic, but in a sort of soft, composed way. He doesn't have any exceptional way with crowds, as might be expected from a leader, but he's strategic, and makes all the right decisions. Malan is also a deeply religious person, and his faith plays a significant role in who he is.

Fae - 11 (developmentally, 11) - Male

Ronan was born of money, and it shows. Although loving, his parents never did much by way of discipline; he was allowed to run loose with his nursemaid for most of his life. Born in Sukhur-Alnoar, the mountainous region to the north of the fae territory, Ronan is known to be one of the best climbers in his family, and certainly among his peers. Althoug he has been stepping about the peaks all his life, Ronan wants for no comfort - a horse? He's got it. The finest gold cuff of the southern welders? That's his, too. He's arrogant, and bonding to a Metal Dragon - the guardian of the mountains, his mountains, certainly doesn't help.

Role assigned to: KindNaturedG

Fae - early 80's (developmentally late 20's) - female

Kalisto is one of the revered fae dragon tamers - though few actually know who or what she is, seeing as she disappeared for twenty-five years and has only recently returned, without any word of her sudden vanishing. Kal was born and raised a nomad in the mountains north of Rosben in the fae kingdom. She tends to keep to herself because of this, preferring to take long walks alone and refusing to wear shoes. While she wont go out of her way to start up conversations, she's happy to keep them going and talk to anyone, whether fae, elf, or human. She's curious about pretty much everything, especially dragons and other people, and wants to know everything there is to know about the living beings of this world.

Voice: She has a very friendly and calm voice, something warm, not too high.
