Dungeon Crawlers is a gritty, fast-paced actual-play campaign inspired by lethal, rogue-like dungeon runs. Each mini-season, two complete strangers are thrown into an unforgiving, homebrewed labyrinth. They must work together, solve brutal environmental puzzles, and survive the terrifying trials orchestrated by the Overseer. If they escape, they win; if they die, the season ends, and a new duo enters the maze.

Season 2 brings us to the Haunted Forest where Lyra Aethelreda and Valen Aethelreda seek fame and fortune. What they don't know, probably will kill them. Lost in the world as "highborn half-elves" this brother and sister duo were cast out by their high-elf father; they only have each other. They entered The Haunted Forest assuming it was a highly exclusive, physical PR stunt that would win them enough gold and fame to buy their way back into high society. They do not realize that the Overseer fully expects them to die in the first three rooms for the audience's amusement.

Please be aware, you will be playing a live-action (actual play) game of D&D with the DM. The sessions are recorded, heavily edited, and produced into a podcast show. The roles for these two characters have us looking for VAs who can capture that highborn, arrogant tone while interacting with the challenges of the dungeon. Accented voices are desirable as well as proper grammar and attention to annunciation. In addition to the actual play session, you will also record a few additional lines in-character.

Experience playing D&D is preferred, but not necessary. Improvisational talent is preferred, but not required. Good communication skills and attention to detail is a must.

Before submitting an audition, please be sure you can satisfy ALL of the requirements listed below:

  • Must be able to capture audio in mp3 format and be able to upload audio in a timely manner

  • Must use a headset and have minimal background noise during the recording

  • Must be willing to have your camera on during the play sessions

  • Must be available for all recording sessions

  • Must be 18 years of age or older (to receive payment)

  • Must be available for the two scheduled recording sessions

Recording Schedule:
Session 1 - Friday, October 23 From 9:30 PM Eastern to 11:00 PM Eastern time
Session 2 - Saturday, October 24 From 9:30 PM Eastern to 11:00 PM Eastern time
(Sessions may alternatively be scheduled for Nov 6 and 7th in the event of a conflict)

Payments:
All payments will be made via PayPal upon conclusion of the recording sessions and uploads.

Latest Updates

  • Expanded Roles

    Hello!

We've been blown away by the incredible talent and quality of auditions so far! It's really amazing to hear a VA capture the heart of a character and bring them to life. Thank you for your submissions.

We're experimenting with the idea of casting out the support roles for the NPC characters. Please read the role descriptions, as they are recorded AFTER our live-play sessions. The number of lines will be limited and small in number.

    Thank you!
    Joe

Lyra Aethelreda
Voice Actor Voice Actor
Lyra Aethelreda
open
Paid: Flat Rate 30 USD

Lyra plays the role of the observant, ranged attacker, but her "survival skills" come entirely from expensive, guided aristocratic hunting retreats where servants flushed the game out for her. While she has excellent persuasive skills (a trait she learned from talking down to "the help"), she lacks the toughness that actual combat and survive require. That being said, having the best teachers and instructors have given her some important skills.

Background: The core dynamic of Lyra and Valen is codependent arrogance. Because they were cast out by their high-elf father, they only have each other.

Vocal Tone: Vocal fry, highly enunciated, dripping with unearned superiority OR a breathless accented style like an "annoyed Vex'ahlia from Vox Machina"

Valen is the dual-wielding, stealthy rogue of the pair. However, his "assassin" persona is entirely fabricated. He took fencing lessons from the realm's most expensive private tutors and thinks real combat is governed by gentlemanly rules.

Background: The core dynamic of Lyra and Valen is codependent arrogance. Because they were cast out by their high-elf father, they only have each other.

Vocal Tone: Overly dramatic, breathy, trying very hard to sound edgy and dangerous, but easily breaks into a panicked shriek when hit. (somewhat like Viserys Targaryen- someone who thinks they have authority when they certainly do not)

Project: Dungeon Crawlers Season 2
Role: Mud Mephit Matriarch (Supporting NPC)
Format: Audio Podcast (Actual-Play D&D)

Compensation: Unpaid. Introducing dedicated voice actors for our NPC roster is a brand-new production element for this season, and unfortunately, there is currently no budget available for these roles. Actors will receive full episode credits and cross-promotion on our platforms.

Production Timeline & Recording Process

Unlike traditional scripted audio dramas, this role will be recorded entirely in post-production. The Mud Mephit Matriarch's dialogue will be written and recorded after the core actual-play session is complete. Your specific lines and reactions will be drafted based directly on the spontaneous actions, combat decisions, and conversations generated by the players during their encounter in the dungeon.

Character Overview

The Mud Mephit Matriarch is an elemental guardian completely formed of foul-smelling sludge, a vile mixture of water and earth. She resides in a stagnant pond and holds the silver key required for the players to unlock the exit door and survive her chamber.

Vocal Direction & Personality
  • Pacing: Sluggish, drawn-out, and lethargic.

  • Tone: Falsely polite. She masks her underlying malice and greed with a thin, highly exaggerated veneer of high-society courtesy.

  • Personality: Deeply self-centered and greedy. She is a constant complainer who thrives on seeking attention, making sure the adventurers know exactly how much their presence is inconveniencing her while she actively attempts to drown them.

  • Excuse me! Yes, you! I am speaking to you. It is terribly rude to look away from your hostess!

  • Are you looking for this shiny little silver key? Heavens, you surface-dwellers are always in such a dreadful rush.

  • Would it kill you to drown with just a bit more... decorum?

Casting Call: The Disappointed Patriarch (Spectral High-Elf)

Project: Dungeon Crawlers Season 2: The Haunted Forest
Role: The Disappointed Patriarch (Spectral NPC)
Format: Audio Podcast (Actual-Play D&D)

Compensation: Unpaid. Introducing dedicated voice actors for our NPC roster is a brand-new production element for this season, and unfortunately, there is currently no budget available for these roles. Actors will receive full episode credits and cross-promotion on our platforms.

Production Timeline & Recording Process

Unlike traditional scripted audio dramas, this role will be recorded entirely in post-production. The Patriarch's dialogue will be written and recorded after the core actual-play session is complete. Your specific lines and insults will be drafted based directly on the spontaneous actions, combat failures, and conversations generated by the players (Valen and Lyra Aethelreda) during their encounter in Room 4: The Toadstool Grove.

Character Overview

This NPC is a hallucinated, spectral image of Valen and Lyra's father. He cast them out of their family, leading to their codependent arrogance and desperate need to win back their wealth and status. In the dungeon, he appears as a product of hallucinogenic mushroom spores, designed to mentally break the siblings while they attempt a perilous jumping puzzle.

Vocal Direction & Personality
  • Tone: Cold, deeply condescending, and profoundly disappointed.

  • Personality: He is an aristocratic high-elf who views his children as utter failures. He is not screaming or violently angry; his cruelty comes from a quiet, absolute certainty that they are worthless. He uses his sharp intellect to pinpoint their deepest insecurities and vocalizes them effortlessly.

Language:

Voice description:

  • Look at the two of you, stumbling through the mud like common vagrants.

  • I cast you out to spare our bloodline the embarrassment of your failures, and yet here you are...

  • Give up and accept your fate. There is no place for you in our world.
