Casting Call: The Disappointed Patriarch (Spectral High-Elf)

Project: Dungeon Crawlers Season 2: The Haunted Forest
Role: The Disappointed Patriarch (Spectral NPC)
Format: Audio Podcast (Actual-Play D&D)

Compensation: Unpaid. Introducing dedicated voice actors for our NPC roster is a brand-new production element for this season, and unfortunately, there is currently no budget available for these roles. Actors will receive full episode credits and cross-promotion on our platforms.

Production Timeline & Recording Process

Unlike traditional scripted audio dramas, this role will be recorded entirely in post-production. The Patriarch's dialogue will be written and recorded after the core actual-play session is complete. Your specific lines and insults will be drafted based directly on the spontaneous actions, combat failures, and conversations generated by the players (Valen and Lyra Aethelreda) during their encounter in Room 4: The Toadstool Grove.

Character Overview

This NPC is a hallucinated, spectral image of Valen and Lyra's father. He cast them out of their family, leading to their codependent arrogance and desperate need to win back their wealth and status. In the dungeon, he appears as a product of hallucinogenic mushroom spores, designed to mentally break the siblings while they attempt a perilous jumping puzzle.

Vocal Direction & Personality
  • Tone: Cold, deeply condescending, and profoundly disappointed.

  • Personality: He is an aristocratic high-elf who views his children as utter failures. He is not screaming or violently angry; his cruelty comes from a quiet, absolute certainty that they are worthless. He uses his sharp intellect to pinpoint their deepest insecurities and vocalizes them effortlessly.

The sides they read from:
  • Look at the two of you, stumbling through the mud like common vagrants.

  • I cast you out to spare our bloodline the embarrassment of your failures, and yet here you are...

  • Give up and accept your fate. There is no place for you in our world.
