I guess I'm in love | A Deltarune Animatic

Project Overview

Studio Stellara is proud to present its debut project, I guess I'm in love | A Deltarune Animatic

This project is a fanmade Deltarune Chapter 5 animatic exploring Susie and Noelle's emotional relationship as they grow closer together.

Using Toby Fox's original composition "I guess I'm in love," we have written original lyrics for an intimate duet between Susie and Noelle. The finished project will combine original storyboards, animation, and vocal performances to tell this story through song.

The completed video will be published on YouTube through our studio channel, Studio Stellara.

If selected for a role, you will receive a flat-rate payment in exchange for permission for us to use your vocal recordings in the finished project and its associated promotional material.

Pre-Audition Information

  1. Applicants must be at least 13 years old.

  2. Communication will primarily be through Discord, although email communication can also be arranged.

  3. Please record your audition in a quiet environment whenever possible. Keep effects, autotune, reverb, and other processing to a minimum. We want to hear your natural/raw voice so that we can evaluate your performance accurately. Mixing and processing will be handled during production.

  4. This is a time-sensitive project, so we ask that cast members remain reasonably responsive and communicate consistently throughout production. Extended periods without communication may result in the role being recast.

  5. You are welcome to audition for both characters and submit multiple takes if you would like.

  6. Please include your Discord username or email address with your audition submission so we have a way to contact you.

  7. Applicants under 18 may be required to obtain parental/guardian consent before accepting a role.

  8. Selected performers may be asked to provide reasonable retakes or additional takes during the recording process.

Audition Instructions

Please submit a recording of the provided audition material for the character(s) you are interested in.

You do not need professional recording equipment for the audition. A phone or basic microphone is perfectly acceptable as long as your voice can be heard clearly.

We're much more interested in your performance and interpretation of the character than the quality of your microphone.

What We're Looking For

Clear diction and pronunciation are especially important for this project. We are aiming for a singing style closer to musical theater than contemporary pop, where the words and emotional intent of the lyrics remain very clear.

At the same time, please don't focus solely on singing the notes correctly. This song is very intimate and character-driven, so emotional delivery is just as important as vocal quality.

Think about:

  • What is the character feeling in this moment?

  • Who are they singing to?

  • What are they trying to communicate?

  • How does their delivery change as the song becomes more emotionally vulnerable?

We will be listening not only for your voice, but for how convincingly you can portray the character and match the tone and mood of the story.

Compensation & Credit

Selected performers will receive a flat rate of $50-100 for their role (based on singing experience).

Payment will be provided via PayPal upon completion of the agreed-upon recording requirements. (If you do not have PayPal, an alternative payment method can be discussed)

Performers will also be credited in the finished YouTube video/description.

Latest Updates

  • Deadline Extension and Finalists!

Hello! I just wanted to give everyone a heads up on some important updates regarding the project! Firstly, I will be extending the deadline for auditions to the 15th of October! If you already sent a submission, you are always welcome to resubmit or ask for feedback to improve your chances!

As we approach the deadline, I will be selecting finalists (2-3 candidates per role) and contacting you via discord or email. If you do not receive a message from me by the 16th of October, that means you were unfortunately not selected as a finalist. Regardless, I do want to thank everyone who has auditioned so far! I have loved hearing everyone's interpretations of Susie and Noelle and I'm thrilled for this project to have been met so warmly by all of y'all!

Thanks and good luck to everyone! :D -Dusk

Voice: Teen girl — deep/mid vocal range

Susie is a teenage girl with a tough, punk, tomboyish personality and appearance. She's confident, blunt, and often hides her softer emotions behind a rough exterior.

In this project, however, Susie finds herself struggling to understand and process her feelings for Noelle. Beneath her usual confidence, there is a sense of uncertainty and vulnerability as she tries to put these feelings into words.

For the audition lines, we're looking for a reflective, intimate, and slightly melancholy tone. Susie shouldn't necessarily sound openly sad. Instead, think of someone who is quietly reflecting on feelings that they aren't entirely comfortable expressing. Susie's delivery should feel sincere and emotionally restrained rather than overly dramatic.

Please prioritize clear diction and pronunciation, similar to the style of musical theater, where the audience should be able to clearly understand every word. At the same time, avoid making the delivery feel overly formal or theatrical; Susie should still sound like herself.

For timing and melody, please use the celesta part in the original track as your primary musical reference. The celesta should help you identify the intended rhythm and melodic phrasing of the audition section.

Performance Direction

When recording your audition, focus on:

  • Clear diction and pronunciation

  • A reflective and melancholic emotional tone

  • Subtle vulnerability beneath Susie's normally confident personality

  • Natural emotional phrasing rather than simply singing the notes

  • Making the lyrics feel like something Susie is genuinely saying to Noelle

  • Maintaining Susie's recognizable personality even during quieter, more vulnerable moments

You are welcome to submit multiple takes with different interpretations if you'd like to experiment with Susie's emotional delivery.

Noelle

Voice: Teen girl — high vocal range

Noelle is a teenage girl with a gentle, kindhearted, and somewhat shy personality. She tends to be more reserved and cautious, especially when expressing her feelings, but beneath that softness is someone who feels things very deeply.

In this project, Noelle is struggling to process her feelings for Susie. She cares deeply about her, but isn't entirely sure how to express those feelings or what they mean for their relationship. There is a sense of excitement and affection beneath her uncertainty, but also a fear of being too vulnerable or saying the wrong thing.

For the audition lines, we're looking for an anxious, uncertain, and intimate tone. Noelle shouldn't sound constantly frightened or overly nervous. Instead, think of someone who is trying to gather the courage to say something deeply personal to someone they care about. Her emotions may occasionally cause her voice to become more hesitant or vulnerable, but the performance should still feel sincere and natural.

Please prioritize clear diction and pronunciation, similar to the style of musical theater, where the audience should be able to clearly understand every word. However, don't sacrifice Noelle's gentle and somewhat hesitant personality in pursuit of perfect clarity.

Audition Lines: 0:57–1:19

For timing and melody, please use the celesta part in the original track as your primary musical reference. The celesta should help you identify the intended rhythm and melodic phrasing of the audition section.

Performance Direction

When recording your audition, focus on:

  • Clear diction and pronunciation

  • An anxious, uncertain, and emotionally vulnerable tone

  • Noelle's naturally gentle and reserved personality

  • Subtle hesitation rather than exaggerated nervousness

  • Allowing the affection and excitement underneath her uncertainty to come through

  • Making the lyrics feel like something Noelle is genuinely trying to tell Susie

  • Using emotional phrasing and vocal dynamics rather than simply singing the notes

The goal is to make Noelle sound like someone who really wants to say these things, but is still trying to find the courage to say them out loud.

You are welcome to submit multiple takes with different interpretations if you'd like to experiment with Noelle's emotional delivery.
