Project Overview

That Gray Area is my personal animated project. I'm looking for voice actors to help my story come to life.


Description:

Ten years ago the Great Occult Scare happened, an outbreak where humans became violently mutated from occult DNA. Humans in the surrounding cities were sent to safetowns to wait out the disaster as the government figured out the cause of the issue. Ten years later during the anniversary of this event. Still in the safetowns, troubled teen Leo gets involved in a mentorship program guided by local occult golden boy Aiden. The two then find themselves unearthing the magical village of Mavraspro a place hidden in the forest and full of occults. But what could possibly be waiting for them within this village?


REQUIREMENTS:

  • The script is finished

    Hello everyone! I have finished the full version of the script since yesterday, but that's beside the point. It's clocked out at about 88 pages on docs, and I'm hoping I can cut that down, especially since I'm trying to set up a lot.

    I should be assigning the cast soon; the project will remain open if anyone wants to pop in.

    For the casted people, I'll send in the full script and a brevity one (still in progress) with just your lines and some indicators because I won't force you to read all that to search for your lines the whole time.

    Anyway, thanks for following! I'll post the full script when I figure out how.

With the reputation as a rude, unmotivated, loudmouthed, troublemaker, Leo is not especially likable, especially by the mayor. Though a loner, he's sociable, playful yet mean, ambitious and lazy, making it difficult to understand even himself. So Leo aims to live his life chasing fun and not caring what anyone else thinks.

  • You know what would be cool? Robot maid ninjas! Not only is she a hot robot she can also kickass 'cause she's trained in taekwondo whatever and will kill anyone who comes near you. See told ya I'm a genius

  • When I was a kid at night I'd climb out of my bedroom window and go to the roof. The first person I saw pass by I'd swan dive off it. The neighbors thought I was crazy, I ended up with a broken arm but I wouldn't stop. They called me a little psychopath, which is fair I guess. I was pretty much a terrorist at that point, it felt good though. Everyone paid attention to me [whimsical and nostalgic]

Aiden is generally known to be the model occult citizen. He's responsible, respectful, hard working, humble and a rigid perfectionist to the point where he works as the Mayor's trusted protege. But it's not like he has a choice. Due to being an occult post GOS Aiden has troubles with his identity and cares a lot about how the public sees him leading him to be quite judgmental and closed minded. He hasn't interacted with his occult self in 10 years, is generally uncomfortable with other occults and can't even form meaningful friendships with humans due to occult stigma. Despite everything he aims to win human favor and bring great honor to his family by being the best of the best

  • My body is weaker than I thought it be! Years of a healthy diet, waking up at six just to run, creating an at home gym, and I'm taking out by walking? The most basic of functions.

Alicia is the adoptive sister of Leo. She is primarily known for being upbeat and positive as well as her interest in dance and sports. 11 years ago she lost her sister and father to a random genetic mutation and has gained a small fear yet obsession with the occult world. However lately after the incident she finds her bubbly nature diluting and has trouble fingering out who she is anymore

  • Is it normal to feel...lonely? I hear a lot of people feel that, but I've been taken for a whirlwind...Oh well. I guess it doesn't matter. I have control over how I feel and I choose not to feel like this. I'll bounce back I'm sure of it.

  • I like yellow because it's sunny and bright. It reminds me of happiness and everyone could be more happy. Plus there's the sun too which is gives us light and life. (Sincerely) The sun is like the best friend we don't even realize you have. In conclusion yellows a great color!...Oh and the Suns great too

Pinocleas or Pino is a young plant creature that guards the forests. During the great occult scare his tribe was torn apart and his elders assigned him to go to Mavraspro and look after the young tribe. Though passionate and dedicated to keeping his elders wishes, Pinocleas lacks strength and wit and often is the butt of the tribe jokes. Someday he hopes to earn their respect or maybe it isn't even worth it in the end

Howie is a  energetic and adventurous wolf child. Howie was found by Mary as a pup and has been a son to her ever since. Due to being the only werewolf in Mavrapro, Howie sometimes has trouble understanding who he is, but he's chosen to spend more time obsessing over human media like comic books and pretending he's a superhero. Despite his mother's protectiveness he aims to be an explorer like her one day leading him to causing a little bit of trouble around town

Darlene is one the oldest residents of Mavrapro and Mary's best friend. Though her appearance is intimidating to even some occults she's a sweet protective person who has a love for everyone, acting as everyone's grandmother. No one really knows what her life was like before she settled in Mavrapro and she isn't open of talking about it, but her past couldn't be anything important

Nick is a bit of a mystery. During the Great Occult Scare he was attacked by a mutant and lost his arm, ever since he's had a hatred for occults. Though mean and a bit of a bully especially to Leo, outside of school and family events he's withdrawn and doesn't seem to get along with his family especially his older favorite child brother Noah. According to his father he doesn't see Nick around a lot, I wonder what he's doing

Sarah is the mother of Alicia and Leo. Sarah is a nice and tired mother that works several jobs to make ends meet leaving her exhausted and often missing special occasions. Before GOS. Sarah lived with a husband and daughters Lucy and Alicia, but they died in a genetic mutation leaving Sarah to move back to Appelhaven and find better way to support her family (as well as adopt Leo) She has a hard time with her circumstances sometimes, but maybe she can turn it around

The wizard council are the new rulers of Mavraspro. They were once the right hands of previous ruler the Sun Queen bit after her tragic death they took over. Though individuals the tend to be thought of as a uninterested slightly cruel collective. They're some of the most powerful occults and no one really knows how deep their powers go. They also control who's allowed to use (wizard) magic. 

But hey, at least they have their fans!

Matthew Anderson is the mayor of Appelhaven. Hailing from a long line of veterans and preachers, Anderson hopes to lead with an emphasis on honor and tradition. Through his peer review methods, Anderson has gained as much of a cult following as he has detractors, but it's not like the negative attention is valid. He just wants to ensure everyone is living an enriching, supportive, small-town community life. After all he's given up...why can't they see that?

  • You see, I come from a great line of people. My father was an army man, and my grandfather, his father, and his father before him. So to honor them while expressing dreaded individuality, I thought it be interesting to join the air force and leave to run for office. I never did see my grandfathers after that.

  • I'm not sure my wife knows what to do with herself anymore. I thought she'd be over this baby thing nine kids ago, but she's still going. She's pretty different from when I married her, a little dead. I only remember she's around if she's giving birth or making dinner. Sounds harsh, but I do pray she begins menopause. Maybe she'll find a new identity in knitting or marathon running
