Baby Koze is the younger version of the main character of Tandem Dark. He appears prominently in Episodes 1–2 and will return throughout the series in flashbacks.
Koze is around 6–7 years old. I’m looking for an actor who can convincingly portray a young boy while still giving a natural, grounded performance. His voice should sound youthful without becoming overly squeaky, exaggerated, or “cartoonish.”
Emotional range is very important for this role. Koze experiences frightening and dangerous situations, so the actor needs to be comfortable portraying genuine fear, panic, crying, confusion, vulnerability, and calling out for a parent.
However, he isn't always frightened. In happier flashbacks, Koze is an energetic and curious little kid, so the actor should also be able to portray childlike excitement, wonder, playfulness, curiosity, and happiness.
I especially want someone who can make the transition between those emotions feel believable. One scene may have him terrified and desperately looking for his father, while another may show him excitedly discovering something new.
This is a recurring role. Although Baby Koze is primarily featured in Episodes 1–2, the character will appear again in future flashbacks as the story continues.
Voice direction: Natural young boy • approximately 6–7 years old • expressive • emotionally believable • youthful but not excessively high-pitched.
Thank you so much for taking the time to audition! I’m really excited that you’re interested in my project specifically.
For now, I don’t listen to any of the audio submissions until closer to the deadline, just because I don’t want to accidentally become biased early on. But I’ll definitely be going through everyone’s auditions once we get closer to the deadline!
Good luck, and feel free to resubmit as many times as you want before the deadline if you want to try something different or feel like you can do a better take. Have fun with it!

It doesn't have to be perfect, it's just how i hear them.
Koze has a pretty calm and laid-back nature for a kid his age. He’s not overly energetic or constantly loud, and most of the time he speaks pretty naturally and casually. He can be curious and expressive, but he tends to have a quieter energy.
That being said, he definitely has a little snark to him. Every now and then he’ll throw out a comeback or say something smart when someone gets on his nerves. I don’t want him to sound sarcastic all the time, though—it’s funnier when it comes naturally from an otherwise pretty calm kid.
I’m looking for someone who can convincingly voice a young Black boy without making him sound overly squeaky, cartoony, or babyish. His voice should still clearly sound young, just more natural and grounded.
A natural familiarity with AAVE is a big plus. I don’t want it exaggerated or performed like a caricature. I just want his speech and delivery to feel natural when the dialogue calls for it.
There are also more emotional parts of the story where Koze gets scared, angry, upset, cries, or has to yell, so the role will need some emotional range even though his normal personality is fairly calm.
This is a lead, recurring role for a long-term hobby/passion project. Adult voice actors who can naturally perform a believable young boy’s voice are completely welcome to audition.

Lucian is one of the major antagonists of Tandem Dark and a recurring character throughout the story.
I’m looking for a voice that feels mature, intelligent, composed, and commanding. Lucian should have a strong presence without needing to constantly raise his voice. He is the kind of character who can be intimidating while speaking calmly.
Please avoid an exaggerated or stereotypical “villain voice.” I want him to sound like a real person first. His menace should come primarily from his confidence, intentions, and delivery rather than growling every sentence.
Lucian can be calculating, manipulative, authoritative, and unsettling, but he also needs enough emotional range to handle quieter and more conversational scenes. There should be moments where he can almost sound reasonable or trustworthy, which makes his darker side more effective.
The actor should be comfortable portraying controlled anger, intimidation, confidence, amusement, frustration, and genuine emotion when Lucian's composure eventually breaks.
This is a recurring role and potentially a long-term commitment.
Voice direction: Adult male • mature • confident • intelligent • commanding • controlled • intimidating without being overly theatrical.

Jeff is a supporting character who appears in the first episode of Tandem Dark. Although his appearance is brief, he plays an important role in the opening of the story when he encounters and helps Koze.
Jeff has a lighthearted, relaxed, and naturally likable personality. Even when things around him are dangerous or strange, he has a tendency to make small jokes or casual comments rather than becoming overly dramatic.
His humor should feel natural and understated, not like he's deliberately trying to be the comic-relief character. He might see something disgusting and casually respond with a little “Yeah... gross.” before moving on.
Most importantly, Jeff should immediately feel non-threatening and approachable. Koze is a frightened young child when they meet, and Jeff's demeanor provides a little bit of safety and relief during an otherwise chaotic situation.
I'm looking for an actor who can balance warmth, casual humor, concern, and urgency without making the performance overly theatrical.
This is a minor, one-episode role.
Voice direction: Adult male • friendly • laid-back • approachable • lightly humorous • warm • natural delivery.

Tatiana is one of the main recurring characters of Tandem Dark and has a major role throughout the story, with her brother Mael.
I am looking for an actor with strong emotional range and excellent control over their performance. Because Tatiana is a long-term lead character, the ability to genuinely act is much more important to me than simply having an interesting or pretty voice.
Tatiana is expressive, emotional, and can also serve as comedic relief. She can complain, joke around, get irritated, be dramatic, or react humorously to the people around her. Her comedy should feel like a natural part of her personality rather than an exaggerated “comedy character” voice.
However, Tatiana also has very serious and emotionally heavy moments. The actor needs to be comfortable portraying genuine sadness, crying, fear, anger, frustration, vulnerability, happiness, excitement, affection, and emotional exhaustion.
I'm especially looking for someone who can transition naturally between emotions. Tatiana may be joking or complaining in one scene and become completely serious in another. When she cries, it needs to feel genuine. When she's angry, it shouldn't simply become yelling. Subtle emotional performances are just as important as the bigger ones.
This is a major recurring role and a long-term character. Please audition only if you are comfortable potentially returning to voice the character for future episodes.
Audition Note: Please prioritize acting over having a “perfect” voice. Feel free to laugh, cry, pause, stumble over words, change volume, or otherwise perform the lines naturally. I want to hear your emotional interpretation of Tatiana.
Voice direction: Female • expressive • charismatic • emotionally versatile • naturally comedic • capable of both subtle and intense dramatic performances.
Acting requirements: Strong emotional control is extremely important for this role. Must be comfortable with crying, laughter, yelling when appropriate, frustration, comedic delivery, quieter emotional scenes, and rapid changes in emotion.
Thank you so much for taking the time to audition! I’m really excited that you’re interested in my project specifically.

Mael is a major recurring character in Tandem Dark and the brother of Tatiana (Tati). Mael is expressive, somewhat awkward, quick-witted, and naturally comedic. He can be silly, sarcastic, dramatic, easily frustrated, and occasionally unsure of himself. A lot of his humor comes from his reactions to situations and the people around him rather than intentionally trying to be the funniest person in the room.
Mael is not naturally confident. He can second-guess himself, become nervous, complain, or feel completely out of his depth. However, that changes when something genuinely matters to him.
He is extremely protective of Tati. If she is threatened, or if Mael feels strongly enough that something needs to be defended, his uncertainty can disappear very quickly. In those moments, he can become firm, courageous, confrontational, and surprisingly serious.
That contrast is very important to the character. The actor should be able to portray someone who can be nervous or ridiculous one moment and then completely plant his feet when something crosses a line.
Despite being a major source of comedy, Mael is not solely comic relief. He experiences serious and emotionally difficult situations throughout the story and requires an actor with strong dramatic range.
This is a recurring role and potentially a long-term commitment.
Voice direction: Male • young adult • expressive • naturally comedic • slightly awkward • sarcastic • emotionally open • protective when necessary.
Acting requirements: Strong comedic timing and emotional range. The actor should be comfortable portraying nervousness, uncertainty, sarcasm, frustration, excitement, fear, anger, vulnerability, protectiveness, and serious dramatic emotion.
Thank you so much for taking the time to audition! I’m really excited that you’re interested in my project specifically.

Dion is a recurring antagonist and rival character in Tandem Dark. He frequently clashes with the main character, Koze, and their rivalry is an important part of his role in the story.
Dion is arrogant, bold, brash, intelligent, hot-headed, and extremely outspoken. He has no problem saying exactly what he thinks, regardless of whether his words are offensive, insensitive, or likely to start an argument.
He can be callous and has a habit of speaking far too boldly. Dion does not naturally soften his words to protect someone's feelings. If he believes something, he will say it directly and will often double down when challenged.
However, Dion is not a dumb bully or mindless brute. He is intelligent, perceptive, and capable of thinking strategically. He can recognize weaknesses in other people and situations quickly. His arrogance comes partly from the fact that he genuinely believes in his own abilities and intelligence.
Dion is also hot-tempered and confrontational. His pride can get the better of him, and he does not respond well to being embarrassed, dismissed, underestimated, or told what to do. His temper can escalate quickly, particularly when someone challenges his competence.
Voice direction: Male • young adult • arrogant • intelligent • bold • brash • sharp-tongued • hot-tempered • confrontational • self-assured.
Acting requirements: Strong emotional control is important. The actor should be comfortable portraying arrogance, sarcasm, irritation, smugness, competitiveness, controlled hostility, intense anger, shouting when appropriate, frustration, and more serious emotional moments. Dion should not sound angry all the time. His arrogance and attitude should be just as convincing when he is completely calm.

It doesn't have to be perfect.
Giant is currently a placeholder name for a recurring character who appears primarily through flashbacks in Tandem Dark.
Giant is a large, imposing man with a naturally booming and commanding voice. He carries himself with confidence and has the kind of presence that can immediately fill a room. However, despite his intimidating appearance and powerful voice, he is actually an incredibly loving, caring, patient, and affectionate father.
Giant has a strong sense of humor and can find something amusing in even unexpected situations. He enjoys teasing, laughing, telling stories, and occasionally allowing people to learn from their own mistakes. His humor should feel warm and effortless rather than goofy or exaggerated.
One of Giant's strongest qualities is his approach to teaching and guidance. He does not always give someone the answer simply because he knows it. He would rather ask a question, offer a hint, tell a story, or gently push someone toward figuring things out for themselves.
He understands that sometimes the best way to help someone grow is to let them struggle with a problem for a little while. He can offer wisdom without sounding like he is constantly delivering speeches or life lessons.
As a father, Giant is deeply nurturing and protective. There should be an immediate sense of safety and warmth when he speaks to his child. He can be playful and teasing one moment, then patient and comforting the next.
When circumstances become serious, however, Giant's natural presence becomes much more powerful. He is capable of authority, anger, fear, grief, protectiveness, and intense emotional performances. His booming voice should be an asset during these moments without becoming his entire performance.
Voice direction: Adult male • deep and booming • confident • warm • fatherly • humorous • patient • wise • commanding when necessary.
Acting requirements: The actor must be comfortable portraying humor, laughter, teasing, fatherly affection, patience, wisdom, happiness, concern, anger, protectiveness, grief, vulnerability, and emotionally intense dramatic scenes. A naturally powerful voice is preferred, but acting ability and emotional warmth are extremely important.

Note: This is a link to how i imagine her. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FFjo0Io1hCA
you can give her a spin, This character doesn't have to be exactly like the reference video.
Granny, whose name is Tanaoh, is a major recurring character in Tandem Dark.
Granny is bold, eccentric, wild, free-spirited, sharp-tongued, and extremely funny. She has a smart mouth and absolutely no problem saying what she thinks, regardless of whether anyone asked for her opinion.
Very little embarrasses or intimidates her. She is comfortable being exactly who she is and does not spend much time worrying about what other people think of her. She can be unpredictable, playful, inappropriate, sarcastic, stubborn, and completely ridiculous when she wants to be.
Her comedy often comes from her fearlessness and brutal honesty. Granny can casually say something outrageous with a completely straight face, insult someone without hesitation, or find humor in situations where everyone else is taking themselves far too seriously.
However, Granny is much more than a comedic character.
Underneath her eccentric personality is someone deeply capable of love, nurturing, wisdom, grief, fear, anger, and vulnerability. When someone genuinely needs her, the joking can disappear and Granny can become remarkably gentle and comforting.
There are also moments in the story where Tanaoh is forced to confront emotions that she normally keeps buried. These scenes require an actor who is willing to dig deeply into the character emotionally. Crying and intense emotional performances should feel raw and genuine rather than simply sounding sad.
The contrast between these sides of Tanaoh is extremely important. She can have everyone laughing in one scene and later deliver one of the most emotionally serious performances in the story.
This is a major recurring role and potentially a long-term commitment.
Voice direction: Older female • bold • eccentric • expressive • sharp-tongued • free-spirited • naturally comedic • nurturing • capable of powerful dramatic performances.
Acting requirements: Exceptional emotional range is important. The actor should be comfortable with comedy, sarcasm, teasing, yelling, laughter, anger, nurturing affection, fear, grief, crying, vulnerability, and emotionally intense dramatic scenes.
Thank you so much for taking the time to audition! I’m really excited that you’re interested in my project specifically.

Navi is a Gypserian guard and recurring supporting character in Tandem Dark. She frequently appears alongside Kita and Bauzz, with the three having a close and familiar dynamic.
Navi is a bold, outspoken, energetic little spitfire who says exactly what she thinks. She does not spend much time worrying about whether something is appropriate to say. If she thinks it, there is a very good chance everyone else is about to hear it.
She is also an extremely comedic character. Almost every appearance from Navi has the potential for humor, whether she is making an observation, calling someone out, arguing with Bauzz, reacting to something ridiculous, or randomly saying the thing everyone else was polite enough to keep to themselves.
Navi is very comfortable with herself and difficult to embarrass. She will say what she wants, do what she wants, and generally owns whatever comes out of her mouth. She is not particularly concerned with appearing proper or protecting her pride.
Insults also tend to roll right off her back. Someone can make fun of her and she may genuinely find it hilarious. However, that does not mean she will let them get away with it. She is perfectly capable of returning an insult tenfold and laughing while she does it.
Her humor should feel quick, effortless, and conversational. She should not sound like she is waiting for a punchline or deliberately performing for an audience. Sometimes the funniest thing about Navi is simply how confidently she says something completely out of pocket.
Her relationships with Kita and Bauzz are especially important. She frequently goes back and forth with Bauzz, while Kita is another close presence in her life. Their banter should feel comfortable, familiar, and effortless.
Although Navi is heavily comedic, she is still a fully developed character. The actor must be capable of handling anger, fear, concern, seriousness, affection, and emotional scenes when the story calls for them.
Voice direction: Adult female • energetic • outspoken • playful • expressive • quick-witted • shameless • naturally funny • confident in herself.
Acting requirements: Excellent comedic timing is extremely important. The actor should also be comfortable portraying teasing, sarcasm, laughter, irritation, excitement, anger, yelling, affection, concern, fear, and serious dramatic emotion.

Blunt / Calling Something Out “Oh, we're pretending that wasn't stupid? Okay. Sorry. Nobody told me we were lying today.”
Getting Insulted / Giving It Right Back “Was that supposed to hurt my feelings? HA! Oh, that's adorable. Try again. Maybe this time say something that's actually true.”
Going Back and Forth With Bauzz “Bauzz, being old doesn't automatically make you right. It just means you've had more time to practice being wrong.”

Kita is a Gypserian guard and recurring supporting character in Tandem Dark. She is especially close with Navi and Bauzz, and the three frequently appear together throughout the story.
Kita is disciplined, serious about her responsibilities, observant, and dependable. Compared to the people around her, she tends to stay more on the straight and narrow. She takes her position as a Gypserian guard seriously and prefers handling situations properly rather than recklessly jumping into things.
Despite her serious approach to her work, Kita is not cold or emotionless. She has a naturally calming and nurturing presence. She can be reassuring, patient, protective, and surprisingly gentle, particularly when someone is frightened, injured, overwhelmed, or simply needs someone level-headed around.
Kita is also capable of being stern, stubborn, irritated, competitive, and sharp-tongued. She is willing to stand her ground and does not appreciate being dismissed or underestimated. When she believes she is right, getting her to back down can be difficult.
Her dynamic with Navi and Bauzz is an important part of the role. Wherever Navi is, there is a good chance Kita is nearby. Kita also frequently goes back and forth with Bauzz. Their interactions can include teasing, disagreements, dry humor, frustration, and the comfortable bickering of people who know each other extremely well.
While Kita is often the more responsible member of the group, she should still feel fun and personable. Her serious nature should create opportunities for comedy rather than preventing them.
When situations become dangerous, Kita can quickly become focused, authoritative, protective, and intense. She is someone others can rely on when things stop being funny.
Voice direction: Adult female • calm • mature • grounded • disciplined • nurturing • confident when necessary • capable of stern and intense delivery.
Acting requirements: Strong emotional range and natural delivery. The actor should be comfortable portraying calmness, warmth, concern, nurturing affection, dry humor, irritation, stubbornness, embarrassment, anger, authority, fear, vulnerability, and serious dramatic emotion.

“Hey, you're alright. Just breathe for a second. Nobody's rushing you. Tell me what happened when you're ready.”
“I leave the two of you alone for five minutes. Five. And somehow I'm the one who has to explain this.”
“Enough. We're guards, so start acting like it. You can argue about who's right after we get everyone out of here safely.”

Bauzz is a Gypserian guard and recurring supporting character in Tandem Dark.
Bauzz has the presence of a big, rough uncle who is actually a sweetheart most of the time. He can look and sound intimidating when necessary, but his everyday personality is laid-back, warm, easygoing, and approachable.
He is not someone who is constantly looking for a fight. Bauzz is generally comfortable taking things as they come, and there is an easygoing quality to the way he interacts with the people around him. However, when a situation calls for it, he is completely capable of becoming rough, intimidating, stern, or angry.
His relationship with Navi is an important part of his personality. The two frequently go back and forth with one another, giving the actor plenty of opportunities for teasing, arguing, playful irritation, dry responses, and natural comedic timing. Their exchanges should feel familiar, like two people who know exactly how to get on each other's nerves.
Bauzz is also very set in his ways when it comes to the Gypserian world and its traditions. He has lived within that culture for a long time and has strong ideas about how things are supposed to work. Even though he is generally kindhearted, he can become stubborn or dismissive when those beliefs are challenged.
This is an important part of the character. His warmth should not make him feel like someone who automatically agrees with everyone. Bauzz can genuinely care about someone while still strongly disagreeing with them.
Voice direction: Adult male • mature • warm • big personality • laid-back • slightly rough • approachable • capable of becoming intimidating.
Acting requirements: Strong natural delivery and emotional range. The actor should be comfortable portraying warmth, amusement, teasing, stubbornness, irritation, happiness, concern, anger, authority, and more serious dramatic moments.

“Come on over here. You look like you haven't eaten anything all day. Sit down before you fall down. I'll find you something.”
“Navi, I've been doing this longer than you've been complaining about how I do it. And somehow, we're both still alive.”
“You might not like it, but that's how things are done here. Been that way longer than either of us has been alive. I'm not changing my mind just because you don't agree with it.”

Teri is a Gypserian guard and supporting character in Tandem Dark.
Teri is a relatively normal, grounded guy who is mostly trying to get through his day and do his job. He takes his responsibilities as a Gypserian guard seriously, but he isn't naturally dramatic or overly enthusiastic about his work. Sometimes he'd really rather not deal with whatever nonsense has landed in front of him.
There is often a slight cynicism and dryness in his voice, particularly when he's annoyed, inconvenienced, or dealing with something ridiculous. His humor should feel natural and understated rather than like he's deliberately trying to make jokes.
Teri should come across as relatable and human. He can complain, become irritated, make dry observations, or sound completely tired of a situation. However, he isn't constantly miserable or sarcastic. He is capable of being genuinely friendly, relaxed, amused, and happy.
When situations become serious, Teri can also display genuine anger, urgency, fear, and determination. The actor needs enough emotional range to make his more intense moments believable without losing the ordinary, grounded quality of the character.
Voice direction: Adult male • natural • grounded • slightly cynical • dry sense of humor • approachable • expressive when necessary.
Acting requirements: The actor should be comfortable portraying casual conversation, dry humor, annoyance, cynicism, happiness, anger, urgency, frustration, and serious dramatic moments. Natural delivery is especially important for this character.

Surprised / Uneasy in thought “Wait... I heard about this guy. He was standing right next to me and I couldn't even sense his presence. How freaky... Yeah, no. I don't want any problems.”
“Hey, would you look at that. Something actually went right for once. I could get used to this.”
“I told you to STOP! You don't get to ignore me just because you think I'm not going to do anything about it!”
