Project Overview

Hey everyone!  Temperance here, voice actor and occasional writer, on behalf of Kris Takahashi, creator of the Fallout 4 ModTales from the Commonwealth and the popular Skyrim mod Interesting NPCs (website: http://3dnpc.com/)


Tales from the Commonwealth is developing a new quest called "Alternative Medicine".  There are several roles that we have decided to open to all of you.  So check 'em out, audition, and possibly have your voice featured in one Fallout 4's more popular mods!

  • Beginning Casting

  • Changes to Hitch's Audition

    Hey everyone!


    So as this quest is still in due process of being completed, script rewrites will occasionally happen.  And one such rewrite has occured with Hitch!  As such I have updated his audition lines to better encapsulate the full width and bredth of his character (in three lines...oof).  The reasons for this are...


    Line(s) #1: The orginal line definitely displayed Hitch at one of his more calm moments, but we (Kris Takahashi and myself) felt it was a little one dementional.  We feel the new line(s) do a much better job of demostrating Hitch's "roller coaster" psyche as he goes from threatening, to acting like he's joking, so implying the threat again.


    Line #2: Not much has changed here, new verbiage but that's about it.


    Line #3: The torture line was fun and all (and I really appreiciate those who went for it), but really Line #2 does a good enough job of capturing Hitch during a high-stress/emotional situation.  The new line, in addition to being fun for you guys, also highlights some of nuances of the character.


    Now, sadly this means that I will need to reject the auditions of anyone who has already auditioned for Hitch.  Rest assured your previous performances will not be ignored, but anyone who still wants to be considered for the role will need to submit a new audition with the new lines.  I will be contacting each of you individually to make sure you're up to speed.  If you have any further questions feel free to PM me!

Hitch is a violent asshole, and Murphy is his boss.  A con-man who’s perfectly at ease with selling medicine with addictive properties to desperate sick people.  By the time we meet Murphy in the quest he’s incredibly on-edge and paranoid that someone is coming to kill him.

  • (Suprised) Carmen!?  What the hell are you doing here!?  Where’s Hitch!?

  • (Paranoid) No…no I don’t like this.  You refer a foreign supplier to us, and just as we meet with him, a part of our crew gets taken out!?

  • (Accusatory) Do I Carmen?  Do I!?  Ever since we started this racket you resisted me every step of the way!  Maybe you were attacked, maybe you weren’t followed, maybe you were working against me this entire time.  I don’t care!  All I know is, that you’re a liability now and getting rid of you means getting rid of my problems.

This guy/girl isn’t a huge fan of his/her job.  When we meet him/her in the quest he/she is yelling at an annoying old man to turn off his radio for the thousandth time, problem is the old man doesn't speak English (or so he/she thinks).  Voice should be angry and forceful that eventually devolves into disgruntled defeat.

  • (Intimidating) Alright old-timer, I’ve told you a thousand times before.  No one wants to listen to that crap.  Turn it off!

  • (Fed up) Fine!  Forget it!  They don’t pay me enough for this shit.

At one point, this person just needed a stimpack to heal up a few wounds.  Unfortunately for him/her, the stimpack was laced with addictive chemicals.  Now he/she is addicted and experiencing withdrawal.  Voice should be desperate and pained.

  • (Pleading and hurting) I’ve tried everywhere else, they can’t help!  The pain only stops when I buy from this clinic!

  • (Getting desperate and violent) Please, I...I need the stims!  It hurts so bad!  Give them to me NOW!

  • (Begging and defeated) N...no please, don’t shoot!  I’m...I’m sorry.  I’ll go...I’ll go...I’m leaving.

Long story short, Hitch is an asshole, a man who preys on the weak for profit.  He’s violent, a little unstable, and is a frequent user of chems (drugs, for the uninitiated).  But at the same time, he is very cunning and doesn’t let his guard down easy.  A good reference point for this character would be Trevor from GTA V, clearly in need of help and prone to fits of violence but still capable of a modicum of "civility" when needed. We’re looking for a nuanced performance, not a cartoon character.


  • (Mocking and threatening) Oh-ho!  The strong silent type, eh?  I wonder if you’d stay that quiet when I’m ripping your eyeballs from their sockets?


    ((Carmen says: “Hitch…” (don’t record this))

    (Dialing back) Hey Carmen, lighten up.  Just joking around with my new friends here…(darker) right?

  • (Just took a hit of chems, manic and over-the-top) WOAH! FUCK YEAH MAN! Ohhhhhh, it’s like...like a swarm of stingwings are having an orgy in my brain! HAHAHA!

  • (Hitch's "You talkin' to me?" moment, “moi” pronounced “mwah”)  Fuck me? You wanna fuck, moi? You sure about that? You sure you don't wanna say that to him instead? Maybe Carmen? Or the Chink?  See, I’m the guy that’s about to decide whether you get very, very rich, or spend the rest of your life eating through a straw.  So I don't know, maybe you wanna reconsider who exactly gets fucked here.
