My species are not automatons, though I understand the confusion. We are dense mycelium threads inhabiting mechanical suits
This character is an alien crew member that does not have a traditional mouth and instead speaks by exhaling through vent like slits in its skull. The voice should breathy and be almost like speaking softly while exhaling.
