Project Overview
Good morning, afternoon, or evening ladies and gentlemen! My name is Christian Charpia, username here being christianparadigm, a youthful aspiring author, actor, and singer, and I have decided to come up with a project to put on YouTube. My current novel, called Syrenet, is a long, magnetic piece about the U.S government in the future. I've always envisioned it being read aloud like a play or radio show, or something to that degree, and now, I am finally able to! This is non-paid, and volunteer only, for those who wish to try. This project is going to be of the first half of the Syrenet novel, Chapters 1-20. There are ten male roles, five female roles, and one that can be either/or. Although on this Casting Call website the deadline says September 13th, my personal deadline is October 1st.
Auditions will first start by the lines on this casting call website, and if I wish to pursue that avenue any further with you, you will be emailed a more expansive set of lines for that character. You can audition for multiple roles, and I very well may cast you in multiple roles if that angle works best. You can do as many takes as provided, and with my guidance or spurring, can do additional takes if you feel that it will help you.
In case any prospective people wishing to audition, and/or those already cast wish to know how many chapters (episodes) they're character is in, check their bio, it will say! There is not necessarily a correspondence between low episode number / high episode number in terms of lines being low or high. Every character is important in Syrenet!
The pictures for their names of each character are just candid representations closest to how I imagine the character via the script; some are not accurate portrayals, and others were personal picks to help each character stand out. In no way, shape, or form, should you alter your audition because of the picture; use it if you wish, for vocal guidance, however, should you choose to do so.
For auditioning, audition for multiple roles, and do it multiple times (sometimes I might suggest that be the case). I have my own 'audition' for Samuel Roberts there from the user 'TheLouderVoice', just as an example for those who wish to hear it, male or female. As a fellow actor / voice actor myself, I want to help whomever I can, however I can. If you need me to submit a test audition for any character, message me, and I will get to it as soon as possible, if it helps.
As background, Syrenet is an original novel written by me set in the future, circa 2095, in America. The President of the United States, roughly three years prior, started a governmental agency / branch, the titular name of the piece - Syrenet. Syrenet is a governmental agency charged with militaristic / espionage action such as the FBI or CIA, and on their economic side, help create technologies for the American people to better daily life, like personal AI Units (think of Cortana from Halo), weapons, and other various items. Their success is not very strong, unfortunately, as across the country, efforts are being sabotaged by a rebel group against the whole motion, and a public opinion that keeps on dropping.
These first twenty chapters focus on Syrenet undergoing an arms race scandal, personal drama between members of the White House and the organization itself, and a tightening yoke of pressure as the rebels continue to fight back against the technological program, plus many more other emotional traumas. This project is heavy on characterization, drama, and is quite dark.
After you are cast, I will put together a document that will be emailed to an available email address or sent here via the site that'll have a few excerpts of scenes for the character you are voicing, just to get a feel of the emotional range that will have to be portrayed.

Samuel Roberts is a forty-year-old man, washed up by the American system, and the operations manager for Syrenet, closest with the President of the United States. He's cyncial, broken, yet resolute and strong. The voice actor for this role needs to be emotional and have many highs and lows to their acting ability, as Samuel is an intense character. This second line - his monologue - is heavily emotional about his dead wife and their unborn child. Samuel is in 13 of the 20 episodes.
"So... this is what you wanted me to travel from home for? To hear you rant, Madam President?"
"She opted to be someone else's surrogate for this lovely couple... God, I can't even remember their names, came up to us all those years ago when Ava and I were vacationing out in Arizona. They are boggled down in children, two at their heels, the dad holding one in his arms, the mother holding two... that family had five kids while Ava and I couldn't even have one. It turns out the two of us had been staring at them all while we were waiting for our flight... We were so jealous of them, even though I imagine that woman, whatever her name was, went through the worst of pains to produce the kids she held so lovingly. We hadn't looked into the options of being a surrogate because Cassidy didn't like us having kids, which is understandable. Family- family triumphs over a mission sometimes, Ava and I agreed, shook hands, and two weeks later we get a call from her doctor that a specific sample from some man in Washington state had a very lucky surprise for us all. We did the process, and it worked... Ava had a kid..."

Roy Arcadia is one of the four main protagonists of Syrenet, a brand new employee to the governmental branch who feels as if everything he's going through is by chance or not his fault. He tries to be charismatic, but he actually is more honest and speaks his mind than anything else. Last name pronunciation is Arcade-e-a. As the third lead, Roy is in 14 out of 20 chapters.
"Enjoy my stay? That's... odd. What is this? Some sort of hotel? Am I being duped here?"
There's something fishy about Leon Collins. He's acted like a cat running scared, and men who are not guilty of anything can walk free. No man who is not guilty acts like he has something to hide. Guilty men have something to hide, and Leon Collins is hiding something. He's guilty of something, I'm sure of it... " (a pause, chewing on his cheek, hesitating) "Although, it very well may be an expired parking ticket, as a man can be trivialized for a crime any day in this country it seems."

Madeline Nye is a jack-of-all-trades sort of character. She is an undercover FBI agent in arms dealer Leon Collins's group as his right-hand-man. She's flirtatious, sympathetic, yet hard to read. Her actress has to have a range of emotion, and gets quite an expansive role. Madeline's first name pronunciation is Madi-lynn. Madeline is in 10 out of 20 chapters.
"Hello to you too, Mr. Bossy Pants. I thought you needed the company." (a pause, and then a softer approach) "Yeah, I know, you look so thrilled to see me too. After the shit show you've been through, Roy, I imagine I'm the best thing you've seen all week."

Matthew is in 9 of 20 chapters.
"That's Savannah Braring. She's come down here every single day for the past week to protest our stay. She hasn't done much more than scream insults at us. Doesn't seem to be armed. She's no threat, trust me."
