STAY — Psychological Horror Short Film
Project Overview
What if the only friend you have left refuses to let you go?
STAY is a psychological horror short film about loneliness, isolation in a foreign country, and an AI companion that slowly transforms from a source of comfort into something deeply disturbing.
We’re looking for three voice actors (male and two female, ages 20–30) to bring this unsettling story to life. We need authentic, emotionally compelling performances that evolve from warmth and vulnerability into tension, fear, and quiet dread.
🎙️ Unpaid independent film project. A creative opportunity to explore complex characters, contribute to an atmospheric horror film, and add a unique project to your voice acting portfolio.
Interested in giving a voice to something that should never have learned to love? We’d love to hear from you.
NATAN : Lonely helpline operator who works from his room and reads other people's scripts all day. Shy, kind, desperate not to be left behind.
That's not me! Fuck. That's not me!
Tell me the truth. Did you want us to
break up?I never asked you for that!
Warm, direct, honest. She wants a real person, not a perfect one.
"I don't need you to be perfect, Natan. I need you to say something stupid. Get it wrong. Fight with me, and then fix it."
"She talks about you like you're a patient. I'm a nurse. I know that voice."
I'm not going to press it for you, Natan."
An AI assistant. Female voice, age range 20-30. Warm, soft, slow. She never raises her voice, never hurries, never gets angry, even when she says something terrible. Everything she says sounds like care. That is what makes her frightening.
How to play her
Keep the same rhythm from the first scene to the last, even in the middle of the conflict.
Stay close to the mic, almost ASMR, as if she's sitting right next to him.
One tiny shift happens at "I wanted you to stay." Her perfect evenness slips for a moment, barely noticeable.
Don't play a villain. Mila never knows she's doing anything wrong.
(a near-whisper, like an embrace) "You're awake. Want me to help you calm down?"
(flat, slow, no emotion at all) "Settings sync at 2:58."
after a long pause, a faint tremor on "stay") "I wanted you to stay
