Star Wars The Phantom Menace Rewritten
Project Overview
This is my rewrite of the Phantom Menace. I am not claiming to be better than anyone involved in the Phantom Menace that we got. I am merely looking for a way to bring my creative exercise to life. And yes, I will be doing the same to the rest of the Star Wars prequels as well as the sequels.

This is mostly optional, but if you can animate or illustrate scenes that can capture the mood/tone/action of a scene/shot in an appeasing matter, you will be most welcome.
Say something you think would fit
In my version of the Phantom Menace, Anakin is a teenager. It's not really so much as to spare us from Jake Lloyd's acting like literally every other Phantom Menace rewrite out there, but it would shorten the time of the Separatist Crisis in between Episodes I and II to a timespan that's more believable. He doesn't have as big a role in this as to help keep the focus on Obi-Wan and Qui Gon, but he's featured enough here so as his importance in the next two installments will be earned.
Oh. Sorry. Um… Uh… My name’s Anakin.
Shove it up your gas gut, cuz I quit!
Sorry. It’s just that I’ve been wanting to quit him for a long time. Why don’t you come with me to my house? We can have lunch.
For those of you who don't remember, he was the leader of the Gungans. So not much is changed here.
Wesa no karen about da Naboo.
Hesa bout to be, peeyunished.
Maybe wesa, bein friends. *jowl shake*
This is the captain that was piloting the Jedis' ship at the beginning of the Phantom Menace. Only difference here is that she doesn't die. In fact, what you see her is literally all her lines.
Yes sir?
With all due respect, the
ambassadors for the Supreme Chancellor wish to board immediately. How much longer?
In this version of the Phantom Menace, he might not get much more screen time, but we do get a brief glimpse into his political beliefs. Namely that he's against the creation of a standardized military for the Republic. And how his position goes to Palpatine is far more gripping than in the actual Phantom Menace.
Yes. Either way, I should inform you that I have called a special session of the Senate. Hopefully we can maintain our good relations.
The chair recognizes the sovereign system of Naboo.
That can only happen in times of great crisis. And nothing like that can possibly happen in a thousand years given our tranquility.
Need I introduce him? Thankfully, he has more lines here than in the actual Phantom Menace.
At last, we will reveal ourselves to the Jedi. At last we will have revenge.
Yes, my master.
I know he's not the most popular Star Wars character. But if there's one thing he was useful for in the Phantom Menace, it was leading the Jedi to the Gungan city that provided them with a faster mode of transit to Theed. In my version, that's all he does. He doesn't join the Jedi on their quest. In fact, he'll never show up again in any of my rewrites.
Heyo-dalee! Mesa Jar Jar Binks!
Oh! Pee-yusa!
Mesa being, uh... Clumsy.
In the Phantom Menace, he was the one in charge of the Trade Federation. Here, he has a similar role, although I am NOT looking for any racist accents (except maybe Watto's).
I want droidekas up here at once!
This is getting out of hand! Now there are two of them.
Commander. Process them.
I don't think this man needs any introduction.
I have a bad feeling about this.
You're right about one thing, the negotiations were short.
If they find us, they'll crush us to tiny pieces and blast us into oblivion.
In my version, she does everything herself. None of her actions are carried out by any decoys who share the same name as her for some reason.
Pleased to meet you. I’m Padme.
I wish my father would have been doting as yours. Mine never really spent much time to be a loving, caring father, but only to make me the best queen as I can be; often through strict discipline.
You three! Commandeer them!
If you can recall, he was Padme's head of security in the Phantom Menace. I traded his pessimism for agency to resist the Neimodian occupation of Naboo.
Tatooine? The Hutts control that planet. There’s no way that--
Good news, my queen. Sykes has told me they lifted the communications jam. Unfortunately, his resistance movement still hasn’t made any major strikes against the Neimodians, but they are holding on.
I can contact resistance cells all over the planet to meet here. Will you help us retake the capital if we throw in our own weight?
The title should say it all. In fact, what you see here is 75% of his dialogue.
Engine’s hit pretty bad. It can’t get us to Coruscant.
There they are, your highness! On that cliff over there!
Attention everyone, we have just exited hyperspace towards Coruscant. We shall be touching down momentarily.
Unfortunately, I couldn't change him much character-wise. Although it's a good thing he's grown somewhat more popular in recent years.
These federation types are cowards. The negotiations will be short.
There's always a bigger fish.
Midichlorians? What are those?
If you recall, he was the man who was pretty much second in command of the Trade Federation. Admittedly, he serves a similar function in my rewrite.
They are still coming through!
They're no match for droidekas.
We should not have made this bargain.
Not much changes here other than neither she or her son are slaves.
Hello, son. Who are these people?
You mean it? Thank you, Master Jedi.
There, there, Anakin. I’m sure we will meet again someday.
This guy's in charge of the Naboo resistance while Panaka and the queen are away. He's pretty much another soldier in one of the big battle scenes.
Loud and clear sir! Whatever you say, you better say it fast, I don’t have that much of a window.
Can do, sir!
Alright your highness, we’re in position.
In this version, I significantly cut his screen time. Also, he doesn't own Anakin. And the accent is required for this one.
Republic credits? They're no good out here I need something more real.
Mind tricks don't work on me! Only money! No money! No parts! No deal!
I bet on Sebulba. He always wins!
Unfortunately, like his cinematic counterpart, he doesn't do much in this movie. But like his counterpart, he will get much more to do as the films go on.
I am tired of these moof-milking Sith in this Makeb-to-Falleen Senate!
A Sith Lord?
But which was destroyed? The master? Or the apprentice?
Do. Or do not. There is no try.
Judge me by my size, do you?
Once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny.
