The Ghost Architect (LEAD)

Male / Middle-aged / Mid-lower voice range

The Ghost Architect is the calm, gentle, yet melancholic lead character in the film, who spends all of his time lingering around the now-decaying Gothic cathedral he designed during his life, forever reminiscing on the past. As the years go by and modern architecture introduces flat rectangular skyscrapers in the surrounding area, he grows concerned about what it means for the fate of his cathedral. His hope diminishes as the story progresses.

  • The majority of the Ghost Architect's dialogue lines are VO/narration over flashback scenes.
  • Performance should be able to communicate subtle changes in emotion---the Ghost Architect initially recalls past events with enthusiasm, but loses hope and becomes more somber as the story evolves, and is ultimately faced with devastation at the end. I am looking for more subtle acting rather than highly dramatic.
  • Approx. 17 lines total
MUST have access to professional audio recording equipment! Auditions with low-quality audio will be unable to be considered for this role.

  • (reminiscing) I held the stars in my own hands once... But that was a long time ago. It's simply not possible anymore.

  • So I designed every column, every pinnacle, and every spire of my cathedral to reach heights that had never been achieved before!

  • (devastated) These monoliths, they'll never touch the stars, not in the way I did. They've pushed them all beyond anyone's reach.

Role assigned to: Nyx

Composer will be responsible for composing an original score for the full runtime of the film, as well as the credits sequence. The current estimated runtime (including credits sequence) is approximately 5 minutes. This may change slightly, as the animatic is not locked yet.

I am looking for a composer who can create music in a classical orchestral style, specifically Romantic Era classical. Here is an inspiration playlist of pieces with a similar sound to what I want for this film. The overall mood of the film is melancholic and nostalgic, yet bittersweet and hopeful at certain points. The core themes of the story revolve around loss and learning to let go of the past. I would additionally like to note that out of all the pieces on the inspiration playlist, Tchaikovsky's Pas de Deux is almost exactly the feeling/sound I'm looking for, and I would like for my film's score to be reminiscent of it.

Work for this role will likely begin at the end of October, after VO recording is complete and the animatic is 100% locked. I am looking to have the full score completed by the end of December 2025---deadlines for rough score are still TBD. A written music cue sheet will be provided alongside the locked animatic before work begins, as well as more information about the story/project.
