Space Evaders
Project Overview
The images used for the characters are not our art. It is the (frankly excellent) work of spoop in our discord. Access their website here
Space Evaders is an audiocomedy/animation (dependent on whether we get an animator) set in futuristic deep space. The story follows a group of 6 characters of various species and one (virus) AI, all of which are ex-employees (and also runaways) from a mega-corporation called Misneiworks. The series is mostly episodic, with an overarching plot taking place behind the scenes. It's a vulgar comedy, so almost all of the characters swear a lot. Despite that, sexual topics aren't being touched, so don't worry about that.
The tone we're going for leans more on the comedic side, but does have tension, drama, and emotion sprinkled in (not too much though, we don't want the audience to actually feel things).
This is just a proof of concept, only the pilot is currently written. We do have a season planned out, and if things go well, we will extend it to another.
The characters below are the ones that exist in the pilot, and are also the main characters (with the exception of Corsei). If you want a minor role for a future episode, follow the project and we will send out updates for future roles

The Rational Information Captain, R.I.C. for short (pronounced Rick), is the voted captain of the team, albeit he bribed his way to where he is. Rick is a robot, and has a robotic voice! Don't worry about adding the effect yourself, I can add it in post. Rick is relatively vain and bossy, but very dumb. The crew members are split in loving him, and absolutely hating him. That being said, he doesn't like to be mean to anyone, especially because he doesn't know what he's doing himself.
He should sound like a generic radio host/advert salesman (since his voice is the same as the mascot of Misneiworks).

Gwen Morgan
Hattie is a humanoid girl who is the medic on the ship. She is the only one competent at her role, and actually takes it seriously. She is not a fan of Ric at all, but does care for her crewmates. A lot of the episodes revolve around her and Ric's interactions, and she is typically the one to resolve the situation Ric typically gets the crew into. That being said, she's fiery and clashes with Ric and occasionally some other crew members due to their immaturity.
I'd place her in the mid-20's, she's fairly well spoken, but is dry and blunt.

Caleb Thomas Hughes
Marcus is the "technician" of the ship, despite not even remotely knowing what he's doing. He tends to just go around hitting things with a wrench and hoping for the best. He's a stereotypical bored teenager, putting minimal effort into what he does. That being said, he does take himself seriously, and also cares about the other crewmates, particularly his sister. Marcus and his sister are the only humans on board. Despite being "supporting", he is a major character.
As mentioned above, Marcus should sound like a groggy, bored, tired, emo-esque teenager.
Think Zuko from avatar, but lower pitched.
(Longingly and dreamily) You're going to give me the sweet release of death?
(Angry, but also disinterested) Call me 'sport' one more time and I'll sic my sister on you. Looks like she already ate a piece.

Kyle Dennison
Gregori Strapplegruglinfeld-Joneski the III, more commonly known as Strap, is the ship's weapon's specialist and builder. He's also a beetle-man. He is the strongest of the crew members, and an old war veteran. He has a dark but successful past, and as a result holds himself to high esteem. He is very loud and aggressive, and thinks he's a lot better than he really is.
He has a very strong pirate accent, deep, loud, and aggressive.
He's basically just MetalBeard from the Lego Movie.

Mayzie is the pilot of the ship, despite being 10 years old. Like Hattie, she is actually trained in what she does, but she's still only a kid and doesn't know what she's doing fully. She is incredibly upbeat and energetic, and always just looking out to have fun. Her big brother is Marcus, who she looks up to dearly. She also sees Hattie as a sisterly figure. She actually likes Ric, but exploits his robot body as a punching bag, chew toy, and various other things.
Mayzie has a little girl's voice.
Reference being Unikitty from the Lego Movie.
(Excitedly) I need my quambom destabibizer! gimme gimme gimme gimme!

Bob is the janitor of the ship and is... human? He's incredibly kind and approachable, friendly to everyone, and energetic despite having an old body. Bob is quite a 1-dimensional character and is seriously only worried about cleaning the ship and being nice. He cares about everyone, despite the fact everyone is super creeped out by him.
His voice should sound high pitch, kind, and very very southern.
Think Old Man McGucket from Gravity Falls but calmer.
(Cheerfully) Howdy there, boss-a-rooney!
(Sincerely) I am deeply sorry, sir! I can't help that my soul is bound to a forgotten Eldritch deity that grants me power over time and space!

Akoretinakit, the 81st omnipotent being of Er'akin, is an Eldritch god who takes the form of Bob when trying to blend in. It is unknown whether Bob is possessed by Akoretinakit, or whether they are the same creature. He knows that he is in a show, frequently breaking the 4th wall. He doesn't really do much in the plot, and is more of a minor character, but he will appear in most (if not all) episodes for small sections of dialogue.
He needs to have a deep, horrifying voice, but go wild with editing.
I have no reference, just have fun.

Key Blackwood
Corsei is a supervisor at MM, and appears in a few episodes. In the first episode, she acts as an "antagonist", despite not really caring about the fact that they crew are using a stolen MM ship and trying to escape. She's simply there to perform a routine check and leave. Later, she calls upon the crew for help a few times.
Corsei has a calm, almost motherly voice. She and Hattie have similar serious personalities, but Corsei is significantly less dry, she's simply a professional.
She has a voice similar to Nicole Watterson from The Amazing World of Gumball.
(Professionally, but friendly) Well, as always when purchasing a quantum destabilizer, there is a certified "Misneiworks Manager Meeting" to check if your ship can handle such a device.
(Confused) ... you have a child piloting your ship?
(Concerned) You're... not supposed to have AI on this ship. This is a freighter, they come with an onboard announcer, but not an onboard AI...

This role is optional. Since this project is unpaid, we are prepared for this position not to be filled.
We aren't artists, and while the series is written and described as an audioplay, we feel having an animator/artist would help it come to life. We have no specifics on necessary art style or anything of the sort. We would leave it up to your imagination (we do have doodled designs of characters, but again: we aren't artists. Your art, your rules).
