Sound From the Sky
Project Overview

Important Style Direction
This is a literary audio drama / full-cast audiobook, inspired by classic adventure and survival stories (Jack London vibe) set in a gritty, post-war Alaskan world presented through a visual novel. We want naturalistic, grounded, conversational performances, realistic dialogue delivery like a high-quality radio play or audiobook, not exaggerated anime/typical visual novel style. Clarity is good, but avoid over-emphasis, cartoonish acting, or typical anime tropes. Think subtle intent and real human emotion.
Role: Lead Character: Heidi
Setting:
In a post-civil war Alaska (year 2050), a slow steam train crew rescues isolated villagers and brings them to the capital. The story blends quiet drama, introspection, survival, and minor dry humor against a harsh arctic backdrop.

Core of Heidi's voice
- Soft-spoken + airy/light tone, never loud or forceful.
- slightly slower speaking, as if she’s carefully thinking while speaking
- Oblivious / clueless about the room, she delivers dry humor, dark jokes, or blunt observations with complete sincerity, without realizing how they land on others. This creates the comedy through contrast, not through trying to be funny or mean.
- Not "annoying" or aggressively sarcastic: Deliver even the blunt/snarky lines with genuine, oblivious sincerity — never sarcastic or energetic
-------------------
Best Example:
Frieren (eng dub) - Frieren Beyond Journey's End: Soft, airy, calm, emotionally flat, says incredibly clueless or deadpan things with zero awareness of social impact. Gentle, breathy, low-energy, almost serene/daydreamy even when joking.
Tip:
Aim for a soft, airy, gentle delivery like Frieren (English dub — Mallorie Rodak). Keep the voice light and a bit breathy, with very minimal emotional inflection. The comedy comes from saying dry, snarky, or overly blunt lines in the most sincere, oblivious, almost daydreamy way, as if you genuinely don't realize how they sound to others. Not aggressively deadpan or sarcastic, but calmly clueless."
-------------------
While she has Frieren’s airy detachment, Heidi is a high-ranking Captain. She should sound efficient and intelligent, just socially 'lagging.' She is blunt, not because she's mean, but because she values facts over social comfort."

“I apologize again for the delay. It takes longer than we’d like to complete mission briefings and secure supplies for such a journey. We’d prefer to depart at a moment’s notice, but that’s rarely possible.”
“Thank you for understanding sir. Only a few of us are dining on caviar, the rest are working until our shift is up.”
“**Sigh**, Your opinion has been noted sir. Next time, we’ll make sure we arrive Sunday. If you want, you can wait while everyone else board, and we’ll come back Sunday. Perhaps even add a cherry on top of your Sunday when we arrive.”
