Sonic the Hedgehog (Audio Book)
Project Overview
PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Five years have passed since the Metal War. Some have moved on. Others haven't. When war hero: Sonic the Hedgehog, finds out the infamous Dr. Robotnik has resurfaced with a new scheme that puts the world at stake, he sets out with his two-tailed best friend: Miles "Tails" Prower, to stop the nefarious monster. New friendships will be made, rivalries will be forged, and limits will be pushed.
WHAT IS THIS PROJECT?:
Hey, everyone, my name is Wyman, and I'm an online writer and YouTube content creator. The project I'm making is an audio-book version of an existing Sonic the Hedgehog fan novel I'm writing, set with a full cast. Basically a radio drama, except with detailed narration. Since I can remember, I've always dreamed of making something like this, and now I'm hoping to turn that dream into a reality.
AUDITIONING INFO:
As you can see below, there are quite a lot of roles for both prominent/minor characters waiting to be filled! I don't have any strict requirements such as age, software, or time zone. Just work your magic. You may notice there are no voice directions in the character bios. That's because I don't necessarily care too much about game accuracy and I don't need it to sound a specific way. As long as it's good and sounds appropriate for the character, that's all I need! I also ask that you please leave a means of contact in your submission. Whether it be an email, discord, Twitter handle, or Instagram handle, anything works.
HOW THIS WILL WORK:
Once roles are cast and everything is concluded, I will get a hold of each of you to secure communication. Now, one thing I have to preference is that this project is LENGTHY and contains A LOT of lines for some of the main characters such as Sonic, Tails, Eggman, etcetera. Only audition if you're willing to commit to the role for a period of time. The audio novel will be divided into a total of ten weekly episodes that will release four days earlier on StoryFire at (10:00 AM CST on Tuesdays) and on my YouTube channel at (10:00 AM CST on Saturdays). Each week, I'll send everyone their select lines for the next episode, then once editing has concluded, I'll send everyone their lines in advance for the next episode. If you're concerned about strict deadlines, we'll be starting well before the series premiers, so we'll have a head start. That way, in case someone is unable to send their lines on time, we won't sink like the Titanic. Of course, everyone participating will receive full credit in both the video and the description, and a link to the handle of your choice will be provided.

Arguably THE most important role in the story. The glue that binds everything together. As the narrator, you'll be tasked with providing a voice to the story which will describe descriptive details, setting, character movements, etcetera. Only audition for this role if you have an interest in it since it easily contains the most amount of lines any role will have in the story.

The doors to Station Square bank burst open with a forceful bang.
Pedestrians standing near what they can only perceive as two blue trails of light and ensuing explosions begin screaming and hurriedly moving away from the battle.
Effortlessly, the hedgehog dodges each of the incoming projectiles, feeling one of the rockets graze the fur of his arm.
A cool dude with a 'tude. This unlikely hero has caused quite a stir in the mystical land of Mobius. With his carefree, (and slightly reckless nature), Sonic the Hedgehog lives life with no regrets. Or at least... that's the intention.

How about we not get close to the water? Me and Orcas don't exactly mix.
An IQ of 300 doesn't come to any normal fox. So how fitting it came to one caught in the middle of a deadly conflict with the additional aid of his two freakishly long tails, and more importantly, his best friend in the whole wide world. Tails may not have the strength or self-confidence as his allies. But he more than makes up for that with his perseverance and genius intellect. A young kid on the outside, but underneath his small shell is a fierce, unformidable heart.

After doing some recalibrating with Miles Electric, I've successfully honed in on the chaos emerald's energy signature! What are we waiting for? Let's go!
I won't give up! Sonic believes in me! He trusted me! I won't fail him!
At first, I didn't want to accept it. But I may not be cut out for this. I'm just... not strong enough.
Without strength, one cannot carry out their duty. Without duty, there is no honor. Without honor, there is no purpose. Knuckles the Echidna stands as the last of his race after the traumatizing extinction of his people. With nothing left to do, the proud warrior guards his last emerald, and by extension, what is left of his home from any outsider who would dare threaten it. May blind fortune shine on whoever would be foolish enough to challenge him...
(Side note: like the other characters, the portrayal is up to the voice actor, and I'm open to whatever direction you go in. However, for this role, I would advise leaning more into the cool aspects of the character instead of the comedic side often associated with 2010 depictions.)

Even though Mobius may be a fantastical place to live, not everything is sunshine and rainbows. Behind every light is a shadow. Solution? Drown out the darkness with even more light. A feat more than accomplishable for Amy Rose. A passionate hedgehog radiating positivity, (when she's not swooning over her not-so-subtle crush, that is).

Few Mobians can even begin to claim their lives are near as daring as the ever-elusive Rouge the Bat. As a thief-for-hire and part-time jewel connoisseur, Rouge will do about anything to pursue her dangerous passions. Regardless of principles or difficulty. After all, who needs values when you could instead be sitting on all of the world's riches, having succeeded in what should be life's first priority. Looking out for number one.

Created to be the ultimate lifeform and having no recollection of his past, Shadow the Hedgehog has no problem living up to his title. What was supposed to be the key to a peaceful future may very well be the one that unlocks the doors to Eggman's regime. No one will get in his way. No one will stop him from getting revenge.

Eggman creates new machines daily, having the inhuman ability to craft an army in just a month's time. Yet, of all his creations, few are as equipped, (and nowhere near as prideful), as E-123 Omega. A mech, who above all else, values proving its superiority above all living and non-living things on the battlefield. A tad annoying at best, an absolute menace at worst.

It's only a matter of time until the great Doctor Eggman realizes i don't need you pathetic organics as partners.
Do not mock me with your cowardly orders. I retreat from no one.
I am not jealous. I am simply enraged.
Created to be Eggman's ultimate solution to his "rodent problem," Metal Sonic is fully intent on being even more. As someone of metallic nature, capable of advanced critical assessment, and built to be a weapon, this uncanny doppelganger is set on correcting such an illogical reality where his organic clone is mistaken as the real and definitive Sonic the Hedgehog.
(Side note: this depiction of Metal Sonic slightly differs from his game counterpart, with the biggest being he doesn't need his Neo form to speak. In fact, he's quite a talker in his base function. And there's also an unmistakably organic side to him- at least personality-wise. Because of this, his voice is a lot less static and inhuman, but instead, more smooth and calming. Almost elegant in a way. Just keep that in mind when auditioning. If you need a point of reference, Ultron from 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' (2015) was almost a direct inspiration for this take.)

Under Eggman's rule, there is no room for mistakes. Only perfection.

A cunning, unempathetic, intellectually gifted mad genius with an ego big enough to shroud mountains. And yet, one can't say it's not entirely unearned. With an endless armada of soulless troops under his command, Eggman was able to leave a legacy that still remains very much alive, even after his defeat five years ago at the hands of Sonic the Hedgehog. And now he's back. And if he has his say, his legacy will live on for the end of time. Everything and everyone will be made under his glorious image. And no one is going to stop him.

Once a proud commander of the unstoppable Jackal Squad. Now? A mere Lackie who can't seem to do anything right. Zero has endured enough humiliation and belittlement for an insufferable lifetime. Despite the setbacks, he knows who he is. He knows what he will always be. A Jackal destined for greatness. Someone with infinite desires craving to be fulfilled.

Entrusted by the President to prioritize Station Square's safety at any cost during the desperate times of the Metal War, the GUN agency's leading commander takes his job with the utmost seriousness. A traditional, determined man, with no concern for anything else around him. Only the security of his home.

Are you sure about this, Mr. President? I don't mean to question your judgement, but this is quite the gamble.
For the betterment of this country, I am willing to sacrifice anything. What of you, soldier? What are you willing to give up?
The Metal War didn't just impact the ones fighting it. No, its devastating effect could be felt by civilians everywhere. But none as bad as Maria, whose father's importance confined her to a secret underground facility with no kids her age. If it wasn't for her best friend, Shadow the Hedgehog, it would have been enough to drive her mad.

In truth: nothing has stopped being so uncertain since the dark times, no matter how many years pass. Everything is constantly changing, civilian unrest is rampant, and now Doctor Eggman may be on the verge of returning. There are a lot of tough calls Michael Reznov has to make. But then again, this is why he took the position as a leader.

Most times, Jet the Sniper has absolutely nothing to fear when it comes to a good rumble. Can he be a showoff? Most definitely. Is he quick to jump to conclusions? Oh yes. But surely, none of that will put him in any sort of danger.

There are plenty of times throughout the story when someone speaks who isn't a main character. If you would like to casually perform a GUN trooper, robot, civilian, etc., then feel free to audition! The same crediting applies to extras as it does to main, established roles.
