Project Overview

Hello everyone, we are a trio of friends who are looking to hire voice actors for our animated project. The project is going to be a show called Social Outcasts and we’re looking to hire main characters and background characters. Social Outcasts (sometimes shortened as Sosh) is an online comedy cartoon about two groups of people who meet each other and end up living together. They get into crazy hijinks and through these situations, they form an unlikely bond with one another and in a way become a makeshift family. The show is set in the state of Ohio, more specifically, around the North. Later on in the season, the show will begin to tackle very heavy subject matter, but for the most part, the show will lean more towards light-hearted comedy. THIS IS PAID WORK BUT NOTE THAT SINCE THIS IS A SMALL PROJECT, ALL THE MONEY IS CURRENTLY COMING OUT OF OUR POCKET. WE WILL TRY TO BE AS FAIR WITH THE PAYMENTS AS POSSIBLE. (We will use PayPal to deliver the money but in the case you don’t have PayPal, we are willing to discuss your payment method).

Keep in mind, we are very new to this and are inexperienced but we are learning and will try to keep and maintain a safe and comfortable environment for our cast.

ROLES

Note: THESE CHARACTERS WILL BE REOCCURING. While this is a cartoon, we aren't looking for any voices that are too over the top. We are mainly looking for people who are able to give off very natural sounding voices and able to act accordingly. We expect that the deadlines will be met but if anything occurs where that won’t be possible, feel free to let us know.

REQUIREMENTS

- Must be at least 16 years of age.

- Must have an XLR microphone and an isolated environment/treated room to record yourself.

- Able to do rerecordings of lines in the event of a bad take or requested line.

- Preferably has Discord and be able to join Discord calls (if necessary).

- Work well with others.

- Able to take direction and have the capability to achieve the director’s vision.

- Understands comedy and timing.

- No Slating

  • Voices!

    Wow, the response to this project has truly been incredible! It was really motivating to see all of the auditions that have been submitted. We found the people who we thought would fit the role for the characters, which was really difficult considering all of the really good auditions. Sorry to anyone who submitted late. Normal, yes, that's his name, is a 17 year old pretentious smart aleck who never misses a beat with his sarcasm, hoping no one can see through his act. He tries to be level headed but tends to fall flat on that and ends up coming across as a know it all jerk sometimes. He tends to clash with Kaey, who can act like a younger sister to him and will keep him in line when he steps out. His vocal range is around the middle, not too high and obnoxiously nerdy, but not too low to where he sounds older than he is. He has a natural Northern accent and dialect but it's not as heavy as if he were Canadian.

  • (is annoyed that at Kaey for sitting in the front row of the van) Well, maybe if you weren’t taking up  all the space, I wouldn’t have been complaining the entire ride here.

  • (reacts to getting scared in a horror movie but pretends to be unaffected) Uhhh- I’m gonna go get a snack. Anyone want anything?

  • (relieved that he no longer has to hide Marnie) Hiding you was a pain Marnie, but it’s nice to know that you’re staying with us.

Marnie is the youngest out of the group at 11 years old. She’s charismatic, can be energetic, is observant, and she warms up to the group pretty quickly. As she warms up to the group, she begins to get more and more comfortable with speaking her mind, talking to the group, and being herself. Later on in the season, Marnie's character has some moments that'll require our actress to be comfortable with giving their all to an emotional performance without being overbearing or over the top. Marnie isn't a loli so NO LOLI VOICE! She has a natural Northern accent and dialect but it's a bit stronger than Normal's but is still not Canadian.

  • (is trying to get someone's attention but the person has headphones, is annoyed they can't hear her) HEY! HELLO?!

  • (she's whining because she hungry) You said that like 30 seconds ago, I’m hungry now!

  • (reacting to someone trying to explain puberty to a girl) Dude, that was terrible. Even I know that women don’t have balls.

Sarah is the one of the gang's next door neighbors and is married to Neil. She's 24 years old, has a genuine positive vibe to her, looks on the brighter side of things, and has a bubbly spirit to her but isn't airheaded. She also has a natural Northern accent and dialect that can also come across as thick on occasion but isn't at that level where it can be confused as a Canadian accent.

  • (responding to her husband after he explains why giving their car keys to their neighbors (complete strangers) is a bad idea) I know but they seem trustworthy. Plus, it’ll be their little welcome to the neighborhood.

  • (is sad that the neighbors are being kicked out, she will miss them despite knowing them for little over an hour) Oh, well, it’s sad to see you leave so soon and like this.

  • (pushing her husband to let the neighbors borrow their car again) C’mon babe, we’d be helping out. And besides, I think we can trust these guys.

Neil is one of the gang's other next door neighbors and is married to Sarah. He's 25 years old, is pretty level headed, he's into the punk/grunge scene, can come across as apathetic but is really not, and wants the best for everyone, even though he has his limits. Also has a natural Northern accent and dialect but isn't at that level where it can be confused as a Canadian accent. 

  • (is introducing himself to the neighbors who have just asked to borrow his car) Um, well, nice to meet you guys. I’m Neil and uh… what happened to that van you had?

  • (is reminding his wife that he just paid off their car and that it's crazy to give the neighbors their car keys (especially if they just met)) Sarah, I just paid off the car and we JUST met them.

  • (sighs and says this under his breath after letting his wife convince him into letting the neighbors use the car again) You are too nice, Sarah.
