Hagair's Despair
Hagair's Despair is a small but emotional quest mod taking place in the world of Skyrim.
The player will face the story of a young bosmer family living close to Half-Moon Mill. After many years of constant happiness, Elsene, Hagair's wife, is slowly falling into depression, unable to understand the reasons of this never-ending darkness. Her condition worsens when Thalna, their daughter, is found dead in the woods, killed by some bandits willing to steal the belongings of the young child.
Hagair is sinking into a deep sorrow after the loss of Thalna and the growing depression of Elsene.
Will the player accept to help this man in order to discover the depth of his grief ?
The quest's goal is to be as immersive and lore-friendly as possible. It doesn't add new cool OP weapons or armors, and doesn't send you into imaginary world.
Instead, it tries to explore the sadness felt when people we love are slowly falling into depression while we stay aside, unable to help them.
The project doesn't contain thousands of lines, but the dialogues try to convey the emotions felt by the characters.
The player has to feel involved in the story. My main goal while writing this small mod was to provide an emotionally intense experience. I'm not a writer and I don't think I've the talent to be one, but I have always loved writing stories. Being a web developper in real life, I wanted to create my own mod so people could enjoy my adventures.
You might have noticed that I'm not a native English speaker as there might be some spelling mistakes in this description. Don't worry, I will carefully pay attention to those mistakes in the dialogues of my mod.

Hagair is the main character of this quest. He is usually a calm and happy bosmer, but life has been hard for him recently. You can feel sadness in his voice.
[Sad and disinterested voice] : Greetings traveller. Whether you're looking for a place to sleep or to buy some food, unfortunately I may not be able to help you...
[Sad voice] : That's a sad and long story, traveller... Are you sure that you want to listen to it ?
Hagair has already lost his daughter, his wife is lying in their bed all day, crying and mourning their daughter. She was already falling in depression before this tragic event, but now she doesn't even want to eat anymore. She is slowly dying. The player brought a potion that could help Hagair's wife to feel better. He's desesperate as she already refused once to drink it.
- Elsene, stop! Stop acting like you're the only one affected by Thalna's death. We both had so many dreams for her...
- But now you must accept her death. She's never coming back!
- Fight as she... As she would have wanted you to, don't let all this sadness overwhelm you anymore.
- So I beg you, please! Drink this potion. It's our last hope... I don't want to lose you too.
Elsene is a young bosmer (30 years old) living a peaceful live with her husband Hagair, and mother of a 10 years old child, Thalna. She is a calm and attentive person. She would give anything to make her family happy.
[Soothed voice, sad moment] : Hagair. My love for you since the first day hasn't changed. I've always deeply loved you, and it will remain the same for all the coming days. We were two pieces of wood that fit together perfectly. Look at our daughter, only pure love could've given birth to such a beauty.
[Soothed voice, sad moment] : We've to leave now, my dear husband. If you never forget us, we'll support you through the roughest days.
Thalna is the 10 years old child of Hagair and Elsene. She wants to become a bard, that's why she spends most of her free time playing flute. She deeply loves her parents.
[Soothed voice, sad moment] : Dad... Don't cry. Mother and I will always be in your heart. I know you loved us as much as you could. Don't... Don't worry, it's going to be enough to never forget us. We'll forever live inside your memories, bringing you happiness each time you will think of us.
[Soothed voice, sad moment] : Dad, do you remember that day, when we walked outside and I asked you how does it feel to die... ?
Vireynn is a human (imperial/breton) alchemist living in the woods. She left the city of Falkreath because her experiences were beginning to worry the inhabitants. She is now offering her services in exchange of many septims.
[Proud and confident voice] : If you can afford it, I have all the remedies you might need. What evil do you wish to cure ?
[Proud and confident voice] : That's a dramatic tale I'm hearing here. I may be able to heal this woman with a strong potion... Sadly, it's not going to be free. The preparation will require some hard hours of work and patience. Let me think... What about 10.000 septims ? Trust me, it's a fair price !
