Skyrim Romance: Forbidden Love
Project Overview
It follows a Forsworn village, the chieftain of which, Cael, is the player's romantic interest and follower. The story is about the Hagraven who created the Briarheart ritual trying to take over the Reach and ensnare the Forsworn Chieftain as he wars against a darker tribe and struggles with a deep, character-driven romance that Skyrim mods have never seen the likes of before.
The 18+ content will have an option to be skipped via a black fadeout screen by the player and will only include the main role, not the villager roles.
Months of development have already been put into this and our own lore has been created for the story, while keeping in line with Bethesda's. With many unique locations and a cast of over 22 who have at least 100 lines each, this is a massive project that has an international team behind it.
The main role, with over 2000 lines, has already been cast. What I'm searching for are the villagers. They are dynamic in that they will change their available dialogue at different stages of the quest-line according to their reactions to what is happening. For example at the beginning most hate the player, but by the end the story has progressed so much they see her as a fellow leader. Every conversation the player has with every character will feature three responses. A kind option, a witty option and an aggressive option. There is also race-dependant dialogue for some special occasions. The mod relies on banter and the relationships between the villagers, each has a rich background that will be used and shape them. Depending on the availability of their voice actor they will be elaborated on with quests of their own when the writing of the main quest-line is complete.
Currently this is supposed to be played by a female character as gender pronouns were necessary at this level of depth.
Writing is not complete so if you are cast for this you will be expected to remain contactable. Scripts will be emailed to you when they are completed and unless otherwise noted, each villager will roughly have 1 to 30 lines per script. Currently the scripts for the main quest-line are 50% complete, we are casting now so that the mod can be created as the end is written and reduce time to its release. As such there is no complete line count but I will provide a very rough estimate for each one.

Hes Caels brother-in-arms and the personification of a bear, both in warmth and ferocity. His judgement is balanced and his word absolute; when Cael cant be there hes the peacekeeper and their strongest warrior. He is a big brother to most in the village but to Cael he is an irreplaceable friend. The age gap didnt stop him from approaching 9 year old Cael and talking the future chief out of his antisocial ways. Ever since then they were as thick as thieves. They were always the ones to be found in a scuffle in the grass, and if one got into trouble, the other would be there to defend them, whether it was Cael talking Anu out of punishment or Anu taking it in Caels place.
Its their fault for constantly complaining about it and not getting knee guards. And before you even think it - Forsworn are far too quick to be caught by arrows. Or they should be. (He glares at Robin gobbling on cheese.)
I wont ask how you know that. So now we have to watch for invisible Faey? I vote we just swing at the air.
Prepared? For what? This place is more guarded than the day Cael became Chieftain. This guy doesnt have any former lovers, itll go fine.
He was always the strange and unearthly one even when he didnt have one of Skyrims fiercest predators following him. Everything about him seems grey and ancient even though hes not a day beyond 27. Even the hagravens avoid him. Hell laugh and fight and joke with the rest of the camp, then when his input isnt needed hes utterly serene. Silent and staring, conversing with Catan, his sabrecat, through a kind of invisible link like a Bosmer. Some in the camp say hes had one ritual too many.
[vacantly] When thou enterest into Oblivion, Oblivion entereth into thee
(laughs) Well I'll tell you this, how much smart assery we can get away with depends on if the chief is present. He seems to be lenient with you though... by all means drag him along on more of your problem solving.
(after being asked what he thinks of the village) I like village. What do you want me to say? Helvi is more of an Orc than she admits, Coral tries too hard and Eoran makes up for his big words with good armour. Alar? Bastard. The good kind. Branna is a stuck-up and Cael falls for people with big names too fast. Youd think youd have gotten all of this with all the yakking youve done with the others. Doesnt your mouth ache? Mine does.
Before the sparrow came along there was the robin. The chirpy assassin with a weakness for food. Her innocent manner often catches everyone by surprise when she comes out with the dirtiest innuendos, and she loves it. She was raised alongside Cael as his sister but as time went on their roles pushed apart the honourable Chieftain and the innocent but deadly shadow behind everybodys backs. If you try to change her family, breathe your last breath.
(After sneaking up on Cael) I'm just too good these days, little brother. So you're getting into the stage of bringing girls home now?!
*laughs* Hi. Now you, youre the Dragonborn. Youre the eater of worlds and- wait, isnt that the bad guy, al-doo-een? I always got bored before the important bits of Caels books. Youre the hero anyway and youre very lucky Cael thinks so much of you. His sparrow. Weird fascination with birds, that one
(Being asked why she doesnt like Cael) What?! He's like my little brother! Well I think he is, we were born a week apart and we lost track of which is which... He may have some weird obsessions, you for example, but that boy is our leader and I love him. Hurt him and you feel my daggers first.
Briarheart = An exalted living weapon with no will or emotion other than vengeance of his people. However, Roule remembers and feels more than he lets on. A rulebreaker who kept to himself, he was always a daunting teenager to young Cael. When they were adults he was a thoughtful and loyal warrior who could be relied on, but was even less talkative than Jakkal. He made a sacrifice larger than all of them in the name of vengeance, just when Cael was noticing something develop between the austere warrior and their city spy. Whatever that was, it made everything complicated and cost them their Hagraven. Roule is now Caels weapon of mass destruction and invaluable prowess, but his story is a reminder to the Chieftain of what happens when control is lost.
[quietly, with humour in response to Robin complaining about Forsworn skirt heights] We do our duty. Regardless of fur positioning.
[confident] What is a mortal body versus one twined with the Old Ones?
(refusing to speak with the player) Speak to somebody who will.
Hes the unrecognised son of Aileen and Alar the former bandit, as the latter was not Forsworn at the time. Nobody hates each other more, so for the good of everybody it never happened. Wils acts cool and tough, but deep down just wants to feel loved. His radical ideas about the Forsworn are inspired by Brannan but his dedication is a mirror of what his parents never gave him.
(When caught sneaking around after bedtime) Because unlike Ana and Cole, I have a brain that knows how to sneak, and Im hungry. I dont care if Im breaking the ritual for bedtime.
(After being bluntly asked who he is) Rude. I'm Wilson and I'm sincerely wondering how you've strolled around with this attitude and haven't had your throat slit yet.
(When player gets the food he asks for) You got it, good. Ahh its fun to pull those strings again. The others stopped being my fetchers when I was 3 So whod you wanna know about?
The wisewoman is 31 years Caels senior and like him was thrust into her position early as a result of tragedy, hers being the death of her mentor in the Markarth Incident. Throughout his life she was always his source of foresight, knowledge and kindness. As well as being the villages link to their history and pillar of tradition. She advised and guided his father, Eshne is a connection he can never lose, and that means staying rooted to the Forsworn. Her role varies from birthing to helping Cael plan wars. Without her, the village would fall apart.
(first greeting) Welcome to our ranks, revered Dragonchild
(after the player has been sarcastic) *chuckle* I see you share our chiefs silver tongue. Be wary, it may not be as well received here as by some. I hope your fists are as quick as your words.
(Eshne speaks quietly to Cael) You should travel with her. Only then you will know if she is the one your dreams spoke of.
Being unusually tall and Elfin for a Forsworn makes this one prefer to stay hunched over his smithing equipment. His silence is mistaken for ignorance so when he speaks a phrase more eloquent than Cael, everybody takes a step back. As he's been on most of them he knows every side of the ongoing conflict, especially the Aldmeri Dominion, but the Forsworn are the only ones he understands. As a Thalmors bastard he changes camps often and has done for decades, but now he may have found a reason to stay in the most unlikely of people. Remaining trusted and making sure the village is outfitted with the best bones and fur possible was his life. Simple. Then life fell onto his table. Love at first sight wasn't quite the term. One rainy day Coral got too curious and fell from the rocks above onto his worktable. The young woman who was half-unconscious among his swords was by all means an intruder who'd be killed without a thought. He couldn't let what had become the highlight of his day be snuffed out. He claimed her alchemy skills and "Breton" lineage as reasons for taking her as his bride.
(After being told Helvi likes him) HAH! Stranger, Helvi is a spider. When she says she has feelings for me, she means she wants my nose for her child, then to dispose of me. Shes an attractive woman, even with the condition, but I would not like to be eaten.
(Being called out on saving people he doesn't know/Coral) I- that was different, I actually knew her! Well, uh, knew of her. *sigh* Im sure youve heard her story, but before that she was an alchemist who gathered ingredients a little too close to our camps. Shes so small I thought she was a child and never thought to see her as a threat. I even looked forward to spotting her awful attempts at sneaking up on us.
I have lived for several centuries, I saw horrors greater than the Oblivion crisis that no one dared document. Of course I have loved. The woman I gave a rose to as a teen is dead, I am no fool. Coral is so young but I was not expecting her to be so... kind.
Just like the Dragonborn, he was once an adventurer. A travelling cook in fact. Then he got into skooma related trouble, joined a Khajiit caravan, met Sheogorath and ended up a crazy chef with a cheese obsession and the speech patterns of a Khajiit. He has a vendetta against sweetrolls and his fellow cook, Blacwin. The grand hunt celebrating Caels 18th year was interrupted by a self-appointed annihilator of poorly-baked sweetrolls whod eradicated the snacking guard patrol Caels hunters were ambushing single-handedly. Naked. None of them wanted to do away with such an impressive fighter and yet he was truly too mad to be left free. So with the promise of cooking utensils, they made him one of their own. Of course none of them expected his stews to be a rivalry to their current cooks. Cael will never say it but Gourm is his favourite cook. Those Honey Nut Treats of his just hit the sweet spot
To say that a cheese should be named differently just because its cut is pure Skooma Cat!
(Mocking Blacwin's cooking, sing-song voice) Bones will be shattered, chickens will be wrung! They'll be beaten and battered, from spits they'll be hung!
(After giving two pies to the player) Good, this is good indeed. This ones pie is made from only the sweetest red fruits in Skyrim and the other Ehh, he found a bush and picked it clean.
