SILICON LABYRINTH

SILICON LABYRINTH

Project Overview

SILICON LABYRINTH is an original cyberpunk audio drama about a silent, faceless, hyper-lethal mercenary named Dorado that has found themselves running from their past employers. Their bolt-hole? The world’s largest open sore: the continent-sized city known as the U.C.: A hellish, endless sprawl of concrete and pain that penetrates the heavens and coils down to the Earth’s withered heart. In what should have been a simple job, Dorado quickly finds themself dragged into a game of control being fought between the most powerful players in the world. With their only chance of survival coming from a being that may be as much an ally as an enemy: a goddess, from a forgotten time and a forgotten land.

  • Time's arrow nears.

    Good morning, drones.

Wake up and smell the recombinant sludge, black as tar, and twice as noxious. But it'll perk you right up to work another double-triple. Rents going to be due soon, remember? Don't forget to bribe the floor lord either, or they might just pass along your payment a microsecond too late. And you know how the tinskins are, they aren't there for explanations, for excuses, they've heard it all so much that they don't even bother recording the extracts anymore. They just simulate it during your in-transport sentencing. We would know, maybe some of you do, too. Oh well, better start hauling your ass out to the nearest labor station before the processors take all your Earthly belongings away to be made into more paste, more sludge, more tar.

A 100% equitable cycle perfectly calibrated for their concrete fiefdoms, so the governors say.

Put a smile on too, don't forget. A happy Labor Unit is a productive one. Not like you have much choice. Seen the facial rictus set in too many times just to avoid failing one too many scans by the Moodies. Bad look, bad, bad look. Painful too, like a Charlie Horse that never ends.

And that's why we're here. A week from now (more or less), the arrow we fired will land at its target. 🏹 And once it lands? It'll kill the feed, close the loop, shut the porthole. No more room on this lifeboat after that I'm afraid. Not for some time, anyway.

That's why we wanted to put the word out. Gently nudge ya while the shift minders are looking the other way. There's still time to hop on in if you haven't made up your mind quite yet. Or perhaps you think someone ought to take your spot and you want to throw them aboard? Well, we don't discriminate. Just can't promise more than one of ya is going to make it to land.

If you think you can do it? Feel free to stand in front of that arrow. We'll find out together whether or not it hits. Until then, you have a partner to meet and greet.

Dorado, your emissary, and felony in motion.

We'll speak again soon. Probably. Maybe. Most likely.

  • Dialogue Adjustment

    Hey there, drones.

We need to apologize to all you who have submitted an audition so far from down on our hands and knees. There was a slight issue. Wires crossed, bad code, someone left bread in the toaster for a bit too long, and they've since had their firmware updated.

We kinda, sorta, may have accidentally uploaded the dialogue from older drafts of the scripts for SILICON LABYRINTH to that big, meandering form. (What's the point of 20K optics built into mirror shades if you're not going to even compile all those logograms into something coherent???) For those of you who have submitted an audition so far and piped it in through the drive or flung it through here, you may want to give the lines in that scrap of gibberish a second glance.

    But! Buuuuutttt...

You're under no obligation to send in a new audition. None at all!

The only changes to the repo were from newer versions adjusted for clarity, emphasis, and all those things that let someone comprehend the words in front of them. We can't help but wonder who even let us try our hand at this in the first place. (When you've got the brain power of a pigeon, but granted access to a fascinated datacenter... well, that's a dangerous combo.)

Should you feel that the changes warrant you sending in an additional take, please do so, but that will not change the final outcome. Once this transmission shuts down on the 5th, we're going to go with whomever we feel fits this rogue better than the rest. Old dialogue or new!

Still, our little digital commune would feel terrible if you weren't made aware of those changes. Didn't want none of our fellow drones feeling put out, like someone had monkeyed with the feed, stacked the deck, pressed their finger against the scale.
