Show the Stars Comic Dub
Project Overview
Hey guys, CharaDreamer55 here. You might know me from some of my projects here, like OCTwist, Project Askos, or even Crystal Desires. Well today I am starting up auditions for an entirely new project of mine!
This project will be a comic dub of my own original comic, Show the Stars! It's been going on ever since November 2018, and I think it's finally reached the point where I'm comfortable enough to start dubbing it!
Now you may be wondering, what is Show the Stars? Show the Stars follows the adventures of Emily Rigela and her friends, as they travel the world of Asteria (it used to be called Corona but obviously I have to change that xD) to return their Sun back into their darkened sky. But she must be wary of the evil Zachary Umbra who is bent on making sure the darkness will be eternal, and she will also have to learn that history is doomed to repeat itself.
Okay, I think that should be enough for a brief description of the project! Now onto the guidelines!
Audition Guidelines
- If you are auditioning for a character, please have good microphone quality. Minimal to no background noise, no pops or whistles. Noise removal is okay, but just make sure it's not overproduced.
-You can audition for more than one role, but please don't submit multiple auditions for the same role unless I ask you to.
-Try to really get into your character and emote/express as best as you can! And feel free to adlib!
-Have fun and don't stress too much! This project is purely for fun, so just do a good job on your audition and you'll be fine!
- Discord is our main form of communication, so make sure you have an account!

Now, due to the current circumstances, I'm unable to render out videos on my ancient laptop. Therefore, I need someone who is willing to either render these videos for me (After Effects only), or just straight up edit the video for me (with any software). It's important that you're able to have a flexible schedule, as the hope is that we can release one chapter a week. You also need to be able to contacted pretty often, as I'll be directing you a lot if I decide to go for the you-being-my-editor thing. The help would be appropriated ^^
Say something you think would fit
Emily Rigela is the main character of Show the Stars, and is the daughter of Trent, the leader of the Solstice Foundation. For her entire life, all she's known is that one day, she will run this foundation and carry on her father's legacy, as well as how she will be the one to save this world from darkness. However, she has her doubts on the inside, and this becomes more prevalent in the later chapters, as she learns of her power to see visions of the past, and how the past is echoed in the present...
Emily is a very determined individual, and is quite the leader despite how that isn't her role just yet. Although she is able to have a soft side that comes out once in a while, but she's prone to suppressing this side of her, keeping the illusion of the hero she was brought up to be.
Emily is 16 years old.
And so, our adventure began. Little did we know that this would be the start of something far more sinister, as I started to piece together more about my mother. More about my mother...and her connection to Zachary and Reuben.
At least you had a choice in the matter...all I've known is that I'm supposed to be the saviour of this world. But after this is all over, the Solstice Foundation will have no purpose...I'LL have no purpose...!
She's right...something IS strange. Why? Why...do I recognize this place?
Vincent Proxima has been Emily's best friend since childhood, and would do anything to make her happy. Well, not anything, but you get what I mean. At the start of the comic, he's a bit of a nervous klutz, but throughout the story, he learns how to be brave, and how through his Loyalty to his friends, there's nothing he can't handle!
For his voice...perhaps some kind of British accent? Accent doesn't really matter, but whatever. He's very soft-spoken but isn't afraid to raise his voice from time to time.
Vincent is 16 years old.
Oh! You're still asleep! I'm so sorry, I'll come back later...
SHUT UP! I WON'T LISTEN TO YOUR LIES! EMILY WOULD NEVER SAY STUFF LIKE THIS!
Everything you've been fighting for your whole life...you can't let Zachary destroy that!
Sydney Solis, up until Chapter 3, is actually mute, plus being a little shy anyway as she's the newest member of the Solstice Foundation. Throughout the story, she's able to warm up more to her new friends, and is able to make happy memories despite the hard times that have fallen apon the world.
Sydney...sounds adorable. She is baby. Her voice goes with her short stature, but that doesn't mean she can't be mature sometimes, too.
Sydney is 17 years old, don't question it.
I am NOT adorable!
You guys do realise you've never told me any of this before? Some explanation would be nice.
Emily! Thank you for being my friend!
Zachary is the main antagonist, alongside his lackey, Reuben. Due to a whole slew of events that I won't get into, Zachary became corrupted with hatred and now will even kill anyone who dares to stand in his way. However, he does have a soft spot for Reuben.
His voice is very manipulative, and he's prone to outbursts of anger. But he is capable of sounding calm from time to time. He's so chill it's creepy. Get me?
Zachary is 38, don't question it.
Hahaha...isn't this ironic? It always thrills me to see people consumed by their own fear...
It's time to do what I should have done a long time ago.
I AM NOT OBSESSED WITH HER.
Spoilers, but Reuben is Zachary's mind-controlled minion. Him and Zachary were childhood friends, and Zachary has always had a soft spot for him, and he takes pride in this fact. Even though he's just an extension of Zachary's own consciousness, he's still able to give witty remarks with flair that only Reuben could give.
His voice, when not mind-controlled, is actually pretty similar to Vincent's, where he's soft-spoken and a little shy. However, when mind-controlled, he's very sassy, and loves to laugh at other people's misery.
Reuben is 37, don't question it.
Okay, but you remember this was MY idea, right? Feel free to thank me.
Zachary, you're such an asshole sometimes! Yelling at Flora isn't going to solve anything! You're just making the situation worse!
HOW MANY MORE OF YOUR FRIENDS DO I HAVE TO HURT UNTIL YOU GET THE MESSAGE, EMILY?!
Trent Rigela is Emily's father and the leader of the Solstice Foundation. After losing his wife a few years ago, he's dedicated his life to upholding the life that they built together, the Solstice Foundation. He tries to be the best father he can be, but still makes his mistakes. He's determined to see his goal through to the end.
Trent, like the other version of him inside Askos, has an Australian accent, but I'd imagine this guy to be a lot more laid-back, but also his voice would fit the role of a leader to a tee.
Trent is 39, going on 40.
Ah, so you're here. Well, let me tell you what I called you here for.
THAT'S what you get for murdering my wife!
I don't know how my day could get any better... OH MY GOD YOU WERE RIGHT THAT IS WAY BETTER.
Flora was the mother of Emily and wife of Trent, however a few years ago she was murdered by Zachary. In life, she was a loving, caring mother and person in general, but that didn't make her free of her own mistakes. She tends to lose control of her powers in dire situations, so is self-conscious about that, but tries to improve her skills whilst her Amica is still around.
Flora is very kind-hearted, and this comes out in her voice. However she is prone to panicking when her powers get out of control, so has a tendency to be nervous in her speaking.
Flora, at the time of her death, was 28.
I just love how you stay determined, no matter the circumstances. I could never be as positive as you.
Maybe this Solstice Foundation thing was a bad idea...
Pfft...haha! I like your style, Trent.
The featured character of Chapter 3.
Lukas is Sydney's older brother by two years. He had to take up the role of father figure as their dad disappeared before Sydney was born, leaving their busy single mother to look after them. Lukas was the one who had to fill in.
This version of Lukas is very chilled and laid-back, and this is a double-edged sword as he may seem lazy, but has lots of fight within him.
Lukas is 19.
I can't believe you didn't mention me to them, Sydney! I thought you loved me!
That's a photo of us and our mom. She's away on a business trip right now. Actually, she's out most of the time. We don't get to see her much.
You three, get out of here. I'll handle this!
The featured character of Chapter 5.
Eirene is the current Queen of Mystra, the kingdom of elves. She took over rule once her father, Adrien, passed away, and tries to rule the city the same way that's it's always been run - by keeping their citizens in the dark. Although she can't help this because her father never told her what was going on, either. Still, she tries to rule her parents' kingdom to the best of her abilites.
Eirene is very sweet and polite, and is a little airheaded at times. She sounds quite posh, but not too posh that people feel intimidated by talking to her. She's just overall a very nice person who can relate to the main characters.
Eirene is 30.
Equinox who? Who are you talking about?
If it is for the greater good, I'm afraid I cannot argue with your intentions. You may have the Sun Shard.
Thank you, Emily! I'll be sure to have a chat with him sometime!
The featured character of Chapter 6.
Pryce Umbra is the King of the vampires, and is also Zachary's father. In the past, he did a lot of bad things that led to Zcahary turning out the way he is, but he deeply regrets his actions and looks towards a better future. Although he has his regrets, he's a very generous person after reforming himself.
He's pretty nervous in his speaking, but is able to be determined when the situation calls for it.
Pryce is 42.
I believe we've never met before. The name's Pryce, and the pleasure's all mine.
Zachary...you may not understand this, but I was doing what I felt was best for you. I was a horrible person back then, I was so selfish and naive...
Wait, before you go, perhaps this could assist you on your quest. I have no idea what it does, but won't it be exciting for you two to figure out?
The featured character of Chapter 7.
Yvette is a fortune teller who is the village chief of Chauntea, and is also Yvette's adoptive mother. The only remaining Socius in Asteria, she works hard to retain her image as such...mainly because she's afraid Zachary will kill her if she steps out of line. Hence why she lives in the middle of the woods. She's unware that her prophesy surrounding Flora, Reuben, and Zachary has come true, so it'll be a bit of a shock when she finds out that her own daughter was murdered...
She's just a very nice old lady with abandonment issues.
Yvette is 63.
Bringing the Sun back is your goal, but the ending may not be favourable. And...one of you will betray the group. That's something I know for certain.
W-What?! No...that's not true! YOU'RE Flora! Aren't you...?
Aw, who's this adorable girl? You've made such great friends since I last saw you, Flora!
The featured character of Chapter 10.
Paige is the Solstice Foundation's resident pilot, and Vincent's mother. She was once of the first people to join the foundation, so she's closer to the leader Trent than other may be. Even their kids grew up together!
Paige is very motherly and kind, but has an unbridled fury if something threatens her son's safety. Oh, and she's definitely British.
Paige is 31.
How are you guys doing back there?
Alright kids, get ready for a landing!
You won't be getting your way for much longer...not if we have anything to say about it!
