Second Star is an all-new first person space adventure RPG in development from Dyscordion Entertainment. In Second Star, you play as Dr. Lee, the scientist of the Persistence more than 200 years in the future. You, along with a crew of 5 humans and 1 artificial intelligence, have been tasked with finding the Second Star, an exploration space vessel missing for 10 years. Players who enjoy sci-fi games with strong character dynamics but prefer a more exploratory, “adventure-game” approach (as opposed to combat) should definitely check out Second Star.
Since the game is fully voiced, we are looking to cast voice actors for the various characters who will appear in an upcoming free demo we will be releasing in the near future. The roles for this demo are volunteer/unpaid, however if the actor fits the role very well we will offer a paid contract for the actor to voice the character for the entire game. At this time we cannot disclose rates but as we are a very small studio our goal is to pay fair rates while staying compatible with our indie budget.
As part of our mission is to bring a diverse cast of characters to players, we would love to find some equally diverse VAs to play them. However, the most important thing is that the VA is able to perform the role so that the character feels real to the player.
Who are we?We are Dyscordion. We’re a very small indie studio that formed up in early 2019. We are artists, designers, writers, and programmers who live all around the world and have a passion for bringing great story-driven games with diverse characters to players. How long will it take?The casting call is for a demo that is currently in development. The demo will be available to the public when released and will allow players to try out the gameplay as well as learn a bit more about the story and characters of Second Star. Auditions close on Feb 20, 2020 at 8PM PST. We may extend this date if we have not filled the roles yet.

We will make our decisions by Feb 28 - if you have not heard from us by then we greatly appreciate you taking the time to audition for us but we decided to go with another actor for the role.

Lee is the protagonist and player character of Second Star. They are the science officer of the Persistence and drive most of the events in the game. Lee will explore various planets on their search for the Second Star. Because they are the player character and this is an RPG, their responses can come in many forms (neutral, friendly, sarcastic, funny, blunt) when speaking with NPCs. During the game’s main cutscenes they will maintain a mostly casual, neutral tone. We are looking for 2 VAs for this role currently.

Speaking style: Calm but casual for the most part. Genuine curiosity for science and exploration.
# of Lines: This is the most dialogue heavy role in the game. You will be voicing dialogue with NPCs as well as reaction dialogue. 3 major scenes in addition to environmental reaction dialogue. The scenes vary between 5-30 lines each.

(Snarky and Funny) Have we taken carnivorous flora into account? That’s dangerous too. Could easily lose a foot in there, you know.

Zile is the commander of the Persistence. He is friendly and respected but also tends to be a bit zealous when it comes to safety.

Description: ANAVI is the ship’s artificial intelligence. They help guide the player through the game’s various obstacles and constantly monitor the player’s activity while exploring. This role is probably the second most dialogue heavy in the game.
