Project Overview

Hello! Thanks for checking out this call. I am directing/producing some projects on my Youtube channel DHVO and am in need of some actors for a new motion manga series entitled Pokemon Adventures. The series will cover volume 1 or the first 14 chapters of the manga, but this casting call is just for part 1 (chapters 1-7). Each chapter is fairly short with only a certain number of major roles. One thing that might be different is that I also need people to voice the actual Pokemon (animal-like creatures with special powers like breathing fire, hypnosis, etc.) I won't go too deep into what Pokemon is, but the manga is different from the typically known cartoon in that the main character is Red and his rival is Blue. The stories in the cartoon are based on this original plot where we find Red determined to become a Pokemon master and, well, catch'em all. Pokemon wiki sites are probably better at explaining it. 

Criteria - Get into character and use emotion, Have a good quality microphone, and  Have a sense of commitment before auditioning.

    On a side note, for those who might be wondering, here is the criteria I used when casting the roles since there were a good number of auditions - Quality of Microphone Quality of Acting and Energy How well the voice matches the character Upvotes Enunciation

Red is your typical youngster who wants to become the best at something. His something happens to be capturing as many Pokemon as possible and becoming the best trainer he can be. He grew up in a small town called Pallet Town where he believes himself to be the best trainer there is. He soon learns that the world is much bigger and scarier than he originally thought. Luckily, he finds some friends, Pokemon, and rivals along the way that keep him going. Personality wise he has a sense of humor and is confident in his abilities.  His voice should be medium-high with a young teen sound.

  • If you wanna catch a Pokemon, first you gotta weaken it. Then throw the Poke-ball!

Brilliant Professor of all things Pokemon from fossils to growth patterns and evolution. He understand the importance of raising a Pokemon a certain way and can provide helpful tips to trainers in maintaining a strong relationship with a Pokemon. Ironically enough, he doesn't have the most luck when it comes to interacting with certain Pokemon like Bulbasaur. Voice wise I just want a professor-like voice. I'm pretty open to interpretation from there, so don't worry about mimicking the English actor.

The first Pokemon we see Red use, Poliwhirl is a powerful water-type Pokemon that his notorious for obeying Red at every turn in their adventure. It has a multitude of attacks from belly-swirl, a kind of hypnosis that can put his opponents to sleep to water-gun, hydro-pump, and mud bomb. I'd like his voice to be slightly on the lower side in terms of pitch. He says only a few words, but each one has different meaning.

  • Poli! (Pronounced Poh-lee. Say this line in a couple tones like mad, sad, attack, etc.)

  • Whirl! (Say this line in a couple tones line mad, sad, attack, etc.)

  • PoliiiWHIRL! (big attack. Poh-leee-wirl)

The first Pokemon we see Blue use. Charmander always seems like he's on a mission to defeat any opponent Blue faces. He pushes himself hard and hold high standards for his performance. His flamethrower is his signature move, which he uses without his trainer needing to command. He has other attacks like scratch, ember, dragon claw, etc.

The third Pokemon that Red somehow obtains. I say somehow because this little guy is pretty Sassy. Pika doesn't like to listen to anyone for anything and proves to be a problem for Red. However, we later learn that he does have some desire to protect his trainer.  His attack vary from iron-tail, electric shock, toxic,  to thunderbolt.  His voice should be pretty high.

He's a member of Brock, the first gym-leader's rock team. He uses a graveler when fighting Red. Although he doesn't have very many lines, he's important in that he's Red's first gym-level battle. I'm pretty open voice wise as long as his lines can be heard clearly.

First gym-leader that Red faces. He's a hard-hitting rock-type Pokemon trainer that uses powerful attacks against his opponents and a powerful defense. His most powerful Pokemon is Onix, a rock-like dragon Pokemon that's the size of a medium-sized building. He's a pretty laid-back guy, but he takes his battles seriously. Voice can be medium pitched.

Misty is a powerful water-type Pokemon trainer who meets Red at a later chapter during one of  her exploits to capture Gyrados. She realizes that the water dragon is too much for her and thanks Red for providing a helping hand. It turns out she was raising the Gyrados until someone stole it. Her personality is confident, kind, and hard-working. Her voice should sound like a young teen.

A leader amongst Team Rocket with a powerful Rhyhorn under his command. Voice wise I'm just looking for a leader-tone and medium-low pitch. He could be played by a young-adult, but his face looks more middle-aged to me.

Rhyhorn does some growls and fight sounds during his battle with Pikachu. The voice should be fairly low and monstrous. Don't worry about adding effects though. All of his lines are basically attack or reaction sounds.
