Hey Everyone!
This is a casting call for Revelations Duel Arena - Fractured Destiny, Season 3 a Yu-Gi-Oh! fan series.
Duel Arena (as we call it for short) is a series of animatics which have dueling as their main focus. It takes place in the same universe as our live action series, Revelations of the Seal of Orichalcos. For those who are unfamiliar with Yugioh, dueling is what it is referred to as when characters battle in a game using trading cards. Sometimes with life or death at stake. Devices called Duel Disks worn on the arm, bring the monsters to life in the form of holograms. The game involves monsters, spells and traps. In a nutshell, a player wins the duel by reducing the other players Life Points to zero.
Duel Arena follows three main characters Sebastian Grey, Zeke Elmstone and Hikari Sedo, as they try to survive in a world that has been overtaken by Valtor's Empire. After surviving the threats they faced in Season 1, new enemies will arise and the stakes have never been higher. We're looking for numerous, varying voice roles. Most of the characters appear in a single episode, but several have recurring appearances.
These are unpaid roles, but we can send you a copy of the finished scenes and any clips for use in a demo reel. We have a Discord put together to keep in contact during production, as well as to post updates.
There are about 25 episodes planned for Season 3. Each episode typically opens with a narrator giving some opening backstory, followed by a duel, which is the center point of each episode. The episodes are be created in the form of animatics, so they have a limited amount of animation. The voices are what will bring the characters to life. The scripts for the episodes have been completed, and there are plans for a fourth season in the works.
These are "dueling roles" which means the character will actively be participating in a duel. You don't need to be familiar with Yugioh to perform these roles, all of the duel terminology has been placed into the scripts. The voices are typically animated and exaggerated, I find that this type of tone helps sell the intensity of the scene, since essentially, duels are battle scenes that sometimes have life or death at stake.

What I need from you
I'm looking for cast members who are passionate and interested in the project
Please submit clean recordings (no air conditioners, no fans) please let me handle the post production on your lines. Don't add effects to your lines
Please submit your recordings as one .wav or .mp3 file to the director via Discord, we will invite you to the server once you have been cast
We do occasionally ask for line re-dos, usually for pronunciation purposes, since there are some strangely named cards or characters, but feel free to ask if you're not sure and we'll be happy to help with things like that!
Since we are planning on producing a couple more seasons of Duel Arena we'd like to cast people who might be interested in reprising the roles of characters some point down the line if we'd like them to reappear.
We likely won't be making any casting decisions until near or after the deadline, to give us a chance to reflect on all the auditions.
Who Are We?
I am Josh, the writer and director of Duel Arena. What initially began as a simple fan project has rapidly gained momentum. We are continuing to evolve and push the boundaries of what was initially thought possible. Expect a breathtaking experience, walking in the footsteps left behind by Kazuki Takahashi.

Whether it’s dealing directly with the black market, forging government contracts, or artificially restricting supplies among the desperate. His sinister methods rarely last for long, due to the watchful eye of the Empire. He’s crafted a thousand identities over the years. Whenever the law catches up to him, his businesses collapse, and he falls off the grid. Often leaving his own employees in the dust. No matter how hot the pursuit is, The Corinthian always manages to be one step ahead.

A highly ambitious agent working for The Foundation, an Imperial group of Bounty Hunters. The Visionary has rapidly been making his way through the ranks, rising from the very bottom when he first joined. His tenacity, quick-thinking, and unpredictability has led him to many surprising victories, earning him a small fortune. After realizing his talents would only get him so far, The Visionary began selling various Imperial secrets to the black market. A dangerous gamble that has paid off. He’s earned the pay of many generous patrons and is becoming a force to be reckoned with in the Underworld. Keeping an eye over his shoulder, The Visionary seeks to put himself at the top of the new world order.

But The Priest’s true nature is only known at the highest levels of government. A fanatical servant, brimming with ambition. A cunning mind and a conniving spirit. Consumed with the desire to please his master, the High Inquisitor. The Priest moves through broad daylight, rarely gathering notice. None would guess the sinister power that lies beneath his foolish exterior.

He never had much growing up within the Abyss. There was barely enough food to put on the table. But his dad, his hero, was always there. The only source of love and encouragement in The Boy's life. That was all stripped away without warning when his father was suddenly carted to the front door. His brain badly damaged after a difficult fight. His father's condition rapidly grew worse. Leading to his death, fighting with the Dueling Ring shortly afterwards. At the age of 9, The Boy was freed from the grip of the Abyss, his heart is cold, angry, and broken. Unable to understand how the world could take his hero away from him. All thought of right and wrong vanished from his mind. He takes what he wants from any who see the small, orphaned child he has become. The Boy has little reason to live. He is only fueled by the desire for revenge. Against the one man responsible for everything.

Legends speak of the great wisdom of The Sage. But few ever see him. His temple is known as a place of learning, but many depart with nothing. The Sage often appears to many, assuming the role of a simple custodian. He offers his guidance, his counsel. But it is often rejected. The people only see a frail old man. But The Sage never tires of sharing his life experience with others. Offering true wisdom to those who are willing to abandon their preconceptions. He never tires of his vigil and is always willing share his council, but few ever manage to receive it.

Brave, confident, and ambitious; The Challenger is a local hero of the common folk. He’s quick to stand against judgment and oppression. He tends to fight with honor, but his greater ambitions can get the better of him. He seeks to become a legendary duelist, rising to the top of the Pro Dueling Circuit. His perseverance and refusal to give up are among his greatest strengths. He trusts his cards and fights to the bitter end, no matter how strong his opponent might be. However, his skills and victories have slowly fostered a sense of arrogance, giving him false hope that he can defeat anyone. The world waits and watches to see just how high he can climb.

An insurgent who sees the Empire for what it has become. Furious at the endless death and destruction it has caused, The Rebel took an oath to destroy the Empire by any means necessary. Coordinating with several other like-minded people, he has begun destroying various Imperial buildings. Targeting the very core of the Empire’s foundation, he seeks to erode the people’s confidence. He resilient spirit has allowed him to endure everything thus far and he will not stop until the Empire is destroyed once and for all. However, committing acts of violence covers the extent of his imagination. Unable to consider the long-term implications of his actions, The Rebel marches upon a dark path.

The Valkyrie is a young, ambitious, rising talent in the Pro Dueling Circuit. Those who are stunned by her attractive looks quickly realize she’s far more than meets the eye. With her skills improving after every fight, she has quickly earned a reputation as a force to be reckoned with. She makes a quick study of even the most formidable foes and has won many victories through a surprising counterstrike. Born from a wealthy family within The Unity, she is poised to climb ever higher, eyeing the title of Crown-Champion for herself. Her formidable prowess is only matched by her innate kindness.

However, in order to ensure he received full credit, The Paragon bribed several influential people to arrange for a tragic car accident. But he tampered with both vehicles, ensuring everyone would perish, and none would be left with the truth. Now assuming the full power of his legendary device, The Paragon has ascended. A new level of consciousness never previously imagined. With an unparalleled level of unchecked power, he seeks to expand his domain and put the entire world under his control.

The Huntress was once a bold, daring, and proud duelist. One of the youngest to earn big titles in the Japanese Pro Circuit. But everything changed the day she met the new champion. Her defeat at his hands sent her into an unbreakable cycle of pain, frustration, and despair. The world may have forgotten her, but she harbors deep resentment for all those who abandoned her. Now, she works for the Empire’s Mercenaries: The Foundation. But her torment continues. She is constantly ridiculed and mocked for her instability and weakness. It makes her blood boil. Today, she’s willing to risk everything, just for a taste of her old glory.

A former Professor from the Eclipse Duel Academy, The Dealer abandoned the Academy when Valtor’s Empire took over. She immediately pledged loyalty and sought a brand-new career, having no desire to run the military academy that Eclipse was rapidly becoming. Shifting careers, she used her knowledge and acuity to start a new Casino within the Empire. She marketed the business to appeal to all walks of life. The destitute see it as an opportunity to turn their life around, while the wealthy see it as a form of high-stakes thrills. People can wager anything they wish, under contractual agreement of the wager being equal value to the prize. It is said you can wager your soul in exchange for anything. The Dealer clings to certainty and refuses to task any risk of being buried with the relics of the past. She is fully determined to leave her old life behind to find meaning in the new world defined by the Empire’s values.

In the not-too-distant past, The Shepherd was a political idealist and ran a humble repair shop. His orations started far too many riots. He began bribing and extorting various government officials to continue his work. Despite the repeated warnings, he was sentenced to the Abyss. A dark prison with no escape. Refusing to accept his imprisonment, The Shepherd gathered sympathetic people around him, promising an escape. But that promise was quickly broken. As things drifted from bad to worse, he abandoned his own people. Leaving them with nothing but false hope. The Shepherd has embraced a life of deception, greed, and apathy. Leveraging hope for personal gain. Through this moral sacrifice, The Shepherd seeks to escape the Abyss for good and continue his crusade against the Empire.

Equal measure calculated and enigmatic, many question if The Curator truly exists. Some claim that he appears, seeking priceless items and artifacts, often in exchange for large sums of money. None are sure of his motivations. He bears allegiance to no one and often works through various intermediaries, never employing the same person twice. Many have gone in search of The Curator. If they return at all, they only enter his employment, even temporarily. All those who speak of the Curator are never seen again.

The Butler serves as the master custodian of the Champion’s Manor. Tending to the home and its vast grounds. Serving the house long before the rise of the Empire. But he holds a dark secret. During his prime, he was a fearsome, master duelist, earning himself many titles. Most famously as the “Count of Fate”. But those years are long gone. Now he serves at the beck and call of the Champion, ensuring every square inch of the manor is in pristine condition. The Butler wears many hats; many mistake his job as easy. But his position is well earned, and he remembers many secrets forgotten to time. Despite his age, he is still quite strong. All those who underestimate this man quickly learn their final lesson.

The Scientist was a brilliant scientist working within the Empire. He pioneered many scientific breakthroughs in the most highly advanced fields of study. With a near ravenous appetite for knowledge, he continued to pursue new and increasingly dangerous subject matters. This led him to begin building a powerful machine, seeking to break the laws of science itself. During a routine test, The Scientist's dangerous methods led to the machine going critical, leading to a containment breach. If not for his quick thinking, the destruction would have enveloped the entire block. Despite this, the Empire grew tired of cleaning up his mess and expelled him, permanently. Unwilling to abandon his work, The Scientist now seeks a new energy source to finally realize the true potential of the mysterious machine.

The Mercenary has wandered all over the world, participating in many different battles. His varied experience has taken its toll on him. Leaving the Pro Dueling Circuit behind, he worked as a contracted mercenary for hire. Seeking only the highest bidder. After seeing enough of the chaos and madness of the world, he once again sought a different path. One of change. Some time later, he encountered a brilliant scientist, The Doctor. Realizing the potential for good with The Doctor's new machine, The Mercenary decided to stay with him for a time. Despite their different backgrounds, the two became fast friends, each willing to stick their neck out for the other. The Mercenary is gruff, confident, and has a strong sense of danger. Some believe he’s a washed-up duelist who no longer has any significance in the world, but he has found new purpose in a cause beyond his own.

The Bandit King hails from the Outlands, a treacherous land filled with danger. All traces of governments, armies, and even currency have dissolved. In the name of survival, many groups banded together for mutual self-interest. But it was The Bandit King who tamed the rugged territory, becoming one of the most dangerous bandits in the region. Now, he extracts tribute from many of the surrounding areas. Refusal only invites attack. With each passing month, his influence grows. Spinning tales of his exaggerated accomplishments. The Bandit Kin's ambition knows no limits, seeking to take everything for himself.

The Aristocrat is a long-time member of the Pro Dueling Circuit. Though he remains within the mid-ranks, he is constantly pushing to improve himself. Contrary to modern dueling strategy, he prefers to focus on defense. Seeking to understand his opponents and end things with a single, decisive strike. He has long followed the path of the honorable duelist, refusing any underhanded advantage that presents itself. Even at the cost of his own advancement. His precision and skill are only matched by his empathy and willingness to extend an open hand to those in need.
