Remnants
Project Overview
Note: The clip above is Episode 3 of the series, published over two years ago, and does not reflect my current skill concerning audio mixing, cinematography, or otherwise. If you would like current examples, please visit my channel on YouTube here.
SYNOPSIS
Remnants takes place in a dystopian future, one whose civilization has struggled to return to its former status for twenty-three years after an research experiment gone horribly wrong. Clark, a cynical man who was accidentally sent forward in time, has become something of a legend to the people of the future as a Remnant of humanity's former glory. Many believe that he is the answer to all their troubles, most notable of all being the R's, an infestation of infected humans that have become little more than mindless creatures, and a dictator known only as the Warden who created a tyrannical regime in the years following humanity's downfall.
Clark agrees to become the icon of the Remnants, a group of rebels who oppose the Warden and wish to return society to how it once was. One of Clark's former colleagues, Ben, was able to reconstruct the machine that sent him to the future, but it's been confiscated by the Warden. Working with the Remnants, Clark aims to take back the machine and use it to travel back to the past and stop any of this from ever happening.
PROJECT PRODUCTION
Right now, Remnants is being put on hold while other projects of mine are carried out and completed. However, the script to Episode 4 is done, and I'm looking for replacement voice actors for certain characters as the originals have since moved on. Ideally, I'm looking for people who are interested in holding long-standing roles that could potentially last far into the future, especially those who are fine with waiting a while for things to continue moving forward.
If you'd like to audition for any of these roles, keep these requirements in mind:
• Discord will be the primary source of communication with email being secondary
• Your microphone audio must be of high, clean quality (no buzzing in the background, no popping, etc.)
• Do not edit your audition with filters or other effects
Scripts/lines may change due to changing directions in story, corrections to plot, or otherwise. You may be asked to perform retakes in these cases.
This project is not paying. All work done by any voice actors is done so strictly voluntarily.

Hey, guys! The audition period has ended for now- there were a LOT of auditions for these characters, so it's going to take some time to sort through. Might reopen auditions if there's new characters or if I think the current auditions aren't yet up to par- just stay tuned, if there's new info on this then I'll let you know.
Samantha, though most call her Sam, has spent most of her life simply trying to survive- and she's gotten pretty good at it. Found by Percival when she was just a child, the two of them have been through thick and thin, and even thinner together. They both eventually joined the Remnants, having heard the tales and legends that had been told and spread by Ben for years, believing that having no life was better than living in one with the tyranny of the Warden and the hardship of losing friends and family to R's.
At first Glance, Sam doesn't have a soft side- she's blunt, cynical, and often seemingly uncaring. However, beneath that stony exterior is a passionate fire, one that's fueled with hatred of the NWL, and the hope that one day, everything will be alright again. She initially dislikes Clark when he first arrives, believing him to be far too arrogant and selfish to properly lead the Remnants. But over time, her friendship with him grows, and she will eventually consider him to be her most trusted companion.
Her demeanor is usually cold and distant to people she doesn't know, and sometimes even to those she does. But every so often, Lucas is able to get her to crack a smile.
The checkpoint is just up ahead. That's where they'll assess us, and decide whether to shoot us or not.
You were my hero. I'd fought this fight for years, going on the word of Ben that someday, someone would be here to save us. I had this amazing idea of you, looked up to you- and then you were standing in front of me, nothing more than a scared man way in over his head.
You don't fucking get it, do you? Without you, there’s no hope, no symbol for people to rally behind. Without you, the rebellion is as good as dead. Every Remnant, every person out here, myself included, is expendable. YOU are NOT.
Lucas had a similarly rough upbringing as Sam did- however, his method of coping was rather different. While she became bitter and distant, he developed a wicked sense of humor and enjoys getting close to people. As far as he's concerned, with all the horrible things that have happened to everyone, his job is to put a little positivity into everything he does. When he manages to get Sam's eyes to light up, he considers the day a good one.
Though he's a bit of a jokester once you're on good terms with him, he can be just as lethal as anything else you encounter in the wastelands. As captain of the Remnants' guard, his job is to protect the base and ensure that all of its inhabitants, military and civilian alike, are safe. He cares very deeply for his people, and would have a hard time coming with an answer of what he wouldn't do to someone who threatened them if it meant keeping them safe. Despite first being apprehensive of Clark, he was far quicker to trust the man and form a friendship with him than Sam was. Wherever Clark goes, he knows he can count on Lucas to be there and back him up.
His demeanor is lighthearted, often jovial, and his first language is sarcasm. He especially enjoys teasing Percival. However, his serious moments are more than enough to scare most people. Use the old voice actor's lines in the previous episodes as a reference if need be.
Don't worry. I'll make sure you don't fuck up!
Oh, don't be put off- that's as close to a 'thank you' as you're gonna get from Percy.
The title of Remnant carries a lot of weight behind it. Everyone's heard of you in these parts- to them, you're something larger than life. And what you said earlier? I respected that. Just make sure you honor that- alright?
Percival is the only one of the main four who remembers what things were like before the outbreak. As a teen, he found Sam and saved her from what would ordinarily be a death sentence for a girl her age at the time. They formed a sibling-like bond over the years, keeping each other safe from R's or bandits intent on raiding their camps. When they heard of the legends of the Remnant spread by Ben, they both joined the rebellion. But after learning more of what Clark was like when Ben knew him, Percival lost faith in him as a leader. Now, he stays with the Remnants because he believes in their cause, but there's no love lost between him and Clark, and he makes sure the Remnant knows it.
If Lucas could be considered the group comedian, Percival is the complete opposite. As the oldest, it's always been his job to look out for others, and he's never wavered in his conviction. Always the serious one, he often grows tired of Lucas' antics, believing the latter sets a bad role model for other soldiers and that he should take his position as captain more solemnly. He carries great disdain for Clark, but begrudgingly works with him to keep the peace with Ben. Sam is his only real positive relationship, his younger 'sister' that he'd give his life for in an instant.
His demeanor is low, sometimes even hostile, and he makes no effort to hide it. If you annoy him, one of two things might happen- either he'll tune you out, or he'll shut you up himself.
Hey, Sam- stay safe, okay? I wouldn't mind you going on this trip with Lucas, but ... he is a different story.
Ben told me about you- the real you. Not the hero of the past that everyone thinks you are, but the snobbish asshole who only ever looked out for himself. If you ask me, people don't change- so maybe you have everyone else fooled, but don't count on me licking your boots anytime soon.
I'm glad you're starting to finally get with the program. And I do appreciate you saving my life. But make no mistake- if anything happens to her and I find out it was your fault, you better hope Ben is a lot stronger than he looks, because no one else is going to save your sorry ass.
Ben is the only person to personally know Clark from before everything went to hell. As one of the scientists working on the temporal displacement experiment, he knew full well what happened to Clark when the machine malfunctioned and his friend was nowhere to be found. After more than two decades, his faith was rewarded- Clark popped back into existence right where his calculations told him, twenty-three years in the future.
The two of them had a somewhat antagonistic friendship, often with Ben as the more abused of the two, but they were friends nonetheless. Knowing that the people needed some kind of hope to hold onto, he told them all of a great hero that would come one day to liberate them, a remnant of humanity's former glory. With that tale, he managed to unify a significant portion of the population into a fighting force that called themselves the Remnants. As the de facto leader of the rebellion, Ben has earned great respect from everyone who works under him.
Most days, he tries to be an optimist, but he gets more and more tired with every passing day. Nevertheless, he refuses to stop fighting until the wrongs of the past have been righted. He has somewhat of a gruff demeanor, but usually keeps a level head.
Yes, Samantha, I do trust him. And if he's going to have any hope of getting support from the people, he'll need you to trust him as well.
Dammit, listen to me Percival! Lead the men to help defend Charleston- we can settle this later.
We don't know exactly what these plans contain, just that they have something to do with the site and the device. We need to know what they are- if he's moving it, if he's abandoning it, deploying more forces around it, et cetera. That machine is our only ticket to sending you back to your own time.
The Mesh are the Warden's foot-soldiers, his personal army of abominations. When the Warden first appeared in the wastelands, he presented an idea to help repel the threat of the R's- convert people to inorganic matter, thereby erasing the fear of infection. Though the idea was abhorrent, it was no less effective; with the Mesh, he cleared out entire cities that had become infested with R's, bringing lost territory back to humanity's tentative grip.
After several years, however, his true colors showed. With enough support from his followers, and enough firepower from his Mesh, he established a new government called the NWL, or New World Leadership, and took control of just about everything. The Mesh are the backbone of the NWL, little more than single-minded drones with one purpose- serving the Warden. They are all former humans, though no one retains their humanity once they're converted. Conversions usually happen because of volunteers who take a deal to be converted so that their family members are given extra supplies and rations for the rest of their lives.
Their tones are almost always monotonous, uncaring, and often authoritative when giving commands.
Multiple people will be needed for this role as the Mesh are considered minor characters/extras in just about every instance they appear.
Mr. Mazure? We're here to collect you for conversion.
Our numbers are being depleted. Odds of success are rapidly diminishing.
What are your orders, Warden?
