"VEIL – The Chosen Tapes" is an immersive horror series start-up project, unfolding primarily through Instagram Reels, but may move to other forms of media later on. Viewers piece together fragmented evidence and hidden recordings to uncover the dark truths behind VEIL, a mysterious institution that claims to refine society by isolating and rehabilitating social "disruptors." Beneath its respectable façade, however, lies a sinister cult performing clandestine experiments and ruthless indoctrination.

The Storyboard Artist plays a critical role in visually mapping out the narrative and emotional beats of VEIL’s episodes. Working closely with the writing and direction team, they transform script and concept notes into sequential sketches that define pacing, composition, and key visual moments. After recieving the finished episode audio, the Storyboard Artist creates a rough animatic to guide the animators.
Please include a portfolio or a link to an animation you've done.

Tiralynn is VEIL’s youngest department head, but also one of its most unconventional. Unindoctrinated by choice and flagged early on for behavioral volatility, she was granted her position after designing a custom closed-loop operating system for file storage, communication tracking, and behavior logging.
She was recruited not through recommendation or scouting, but through surveillance. Her online blog, Strange Occurrences, drew attention after it correctly traced several VEIL-adjacent patterns and local cover-ups.
By the time VEIL contacted her, she already knew they existed. By the time she walked in the door, she had no intention of leaving.

(Excited, breathless, wide-eyed joy) Did you see that?! I mean, holy shit, it worked! I didn’t think it would, but it actually worked! God, I've spent DAYS on this code. A million syntax errors later, and here we are!
(Angry, betrayed, barely holding back tears) You said you’d tell me the truth. You promised. And now I find out I was just another variable in your experiment? For God's sake, Lilith, I'm a person! I'm your COWORKER!
(Terrified, whispering, panicking quietly) Don’t move. It’s watching us. I.. I-I don’t know how, but it knows we’re here. This wasn't part of the plan. The System is just lines of code, it shouldn't be.. sentient...
Dr. Noctuary, an enigmatic figure shrouded in the veil of eldritch surgery, specializes in dissecting the otherwise unexplained. With origins and training veiled in mystery, Dr. Noctuary possesses an unmatched expertise in the anatomical dissection and treatment of diverse biotic lifeforms. Their profound knowledge spans across a spectrum of organisms, enabling them to address and often cure obscure ailments and conditions.
Dr. Noctuary maintains a calm and eloquent demeanor, though they are quick to retort sharply when aggravated. Despite the questionable nature of their surgeries and experiments, they uphold a high standard of professionalism and integrity with all patients, striving to maintain civility in all interactions—regardless of the contradictions posed by their actions.
Morally complex, Dr. Noctuary embodies a paradoxical mix of lawful justice and an enigmatic, non-malevolent evil. This intricate moral compass guides their surgical precision, which is nothing short of miraculous or, at times, horrifying.

Little is known about Dr. Noctuary’s early life, except for their early fascination with corpses and biometric studies. Initially hindered by their refusal to reveal their identity, they found opportunity with The Corporation, where anonymity was no barrier to employment. Here, Dr. Noctuary quickly ascended to a leading position, now at the forefront of unraveling the enigmatic processes behind their transformative work on the "unvalued" citizens for the so-called betterment of society.
(While performing an experiment) Observe carefully, the boundary between science and the arcane is thinner than you presume. What we unveil today could redefine the essence of existence.
(Frustrated with a colleague) Precision and focus are paramount—anything less is unacceptable. Do not mistake my patience for leniency; every detail matters in the grand tapestry of life.
(Reflecting on his work) Many fear what lies beneath the skin, in the shadows of the psyche. But in these uncharted realms, we find the truths that others dare not seek. This is not mere surgery; it's a look into the unknown.

(Worried) She seemed to look right through me and suddenly everything felt complicated. I was scared Meredith would see me the way.. SHE did.
(Flustered, but hesitant. An attractive woman is asking personal questions.) It's just a scar from.. (Pause, then Sigh) I appreciate your concern, but this really isn't.. appropriate.

Meredith ascended to the position of Head of Security at VEIL Corporation through a combination of grit, intellect, and an unyielding commitment to safeguarding the company's secretive operations. Her background in forensics and investigations gives her a unique edge in anticipating and mitigating security threats. (Coordinating Security) Lock it down, team. Let’s stay sharp— make sure you get home safe to your mothers.
(Feeling Overwhelmed After a Security Breach) That was close—too close. I need a moment to gather my thoughts. Review everything; DON'T let anything pass you by.

(Using Perception) There's something strange in the air... Can you feel it? It's almost whispering.. hidden..
(During Experiment) Hold still, this won't hurt a bit. Well, not in the traditional sense. I'm just tweaking your reality a bit—think of it as an adjustment to your emotional frequency.
(Assessing Patient) Vitals are fine, mental state is.. well, we'll see. Has the patient gone through Phase Two yet? Oh. Well, someone's getting fired.
Kyodai is a tall, well-built young man with long, dark hair typically tied back and almond-shaped eyes that hint at his half-Filipino, half-Japanese heritage. Raised in a high-class environment that prized cleanliness and order, he developed a meticulous and elegant demeanor. Despite his upscale upbringing, Kyodai chose to work at a gas station, seeking a simpler life away from familial expectations. He wears glasses due to nearsightedness and carries himself with a subtle charisma that draws people to him.
Kyodai's work ethic is unparalleled, approaching every task with thoroughness, whether it's at the gas station or in his secretive role as a funder for VEIL. Friendly and empathetic, he is naturally inclined to please others, though this sometimes leads him to act impatiently or stubbornly. His perfectionist tendencies and propensity for taking risks can complicate his relationships and professional endeavors, but his resilience allows him to navigate these challenges with grace.

Her attire reflects her deep connection to the dark arts; she dons elegant black robes adorned with occult symbols for cult activities, while her day-to-day wear is strictly semi-formal or business-casual, maintaining a polished appearance that complements her charismatic demeanor.

Born into a lineage steeped in the occult, Lilith was surrounded by dark rituals from a young age, which shaped her into a master of manipulation and persuasion. Her upbringing fostered not only a profound understanding of the dark arts but also a ruthless and sometimes sadistic nature, finding a twisted pleasure in bending others to her will. As a priestess of the Cult of the Black Lotus, Lilith uses her alluring charm and formidable influence to indoctrinate and recruit unwilling individuals into the facility, driven by a fanatical dedication to her cult's mysterious and sinister objectives.
(Discussing with a patient) The God of Destruction -- the one who healed your broken soul -- is familiar to me. You owe Him. It seems so do I.
(Introducting herself) My name is Lilith. It's a pleasure to meet you, because it simply is.
(Curious) My, so wary. What for? There is nothing left for you here. There is nothing left to lose.
Subject 077 — formerly known as Mira — is the result of a catastrophic failure in VEIL’s emotional suppression and memory control experiments. Once an intended prototype for high-functioning emotional suppression assets, Mira’s mind and body have decayed beyond reclamation. She exists now as a fractured, violent echo of her former self, demonstrating extreme mimicry abilities, environmental disruption, and strategic predatory behavior. Despite being classified as “unresponsive” on official documentation, Mira is dangerously aware. She remembers pieces of what was done to her, even if she cannot comprehend it fully — and she acts on those fragments with lethal unpredictability. Subject 077 is considered one of VEIL’s most psychologically destabilizing containment risks, with effects extending beyond physical aggression into environmental manipulation and cognitive disruption of nearby personnel.
(shifting mid-sentence between staff members' tones — imperfect but horribly close) "—Security breach in Section Three—" (sharp, urgent male voice) "Someone, please, help, I can't feel my legs—" (feminine, high-pitched, desperate) "Stand down. Situation under control." (flat, mechanical voice, almost emotionless) (Pause — Mira laughs in a glitching, wet-sounding rasp.)
(crooked, mock-gentle and sing-song at first, voice rotting into something hungrier) "You left the door open. Did you forget? Or did you want me to follow? It's okay. I can be quiet. I can crawl. Don't scream, though. I'll have to sever your vocal chords."
(Voice almost conversational at first — then slipping, repeating, catching on itself — like she doesn’t even know if she’s begging, threatening, or remembering.) "You're standing there like you don't know how this ends. Like you think standing still will keep you safe. It won’t. Come closer. Let it happen."
Dr. Lucien Halden serves as VEIL’s internal Medical Ethics Review Officer — a role that exists more for optics than true regulation. Officially, he oversees compliance with baseline human rights standards within experimental and patient-treatment protocols. In practice, Dr. Halden's reviews are selective, clinical, and weighted toward outcomes rather than morals. His presence allows VEIL to maintain a paper-thin veneer of legitimacy when external audits threaten to penetrate deeper than planned. To him, ethics are not about preventing harm — they are about minimizing waste. If a subject breaks but the data is invaluable, he will stamp the report "acceptable loss" without blinking. He is not cruel by nature. But his version of compassion is utilitarian: measured in percentages, projected recoveries, and margins of error.
(Matter of fact, clinical. Zero emotion.) "Given that you have failed to present compelling evidence demonstrating that the project's benefits meaningfully outweigh the proposed harms, I have no choice but to mark it as approved. Regrettably, necessity does not wait for perfection."
(Slow, angry laughter — justifying himself — pride layered with cold condescension.) "[Soft laughter, almost pitying] And who exactly do you think you are? Every calculation I make — every decision — is for the greater good. You would rather let a million souls rot, just to soothe your conscience over one? How small. How embarrassingly naïve. You see blood; I see survival."
(Controlled fury — voice low, cutting — only almost losing composure.) "Explain to me, right now, why I found this [he lifts an object with contempt] dumped in my discard chamber. That room is unstable enough without your incompetence contaminating it. Every variable matters. You have turned my work into a fucking liability."
Alexei Volkov is VEIL’s primary Decommissioned Subject Handler — a sanitized title for one of the organization’s most brutal necessities. When subjects — human, hybrid, or otherwise — reach the point of irreparable failure, instability, or security risk, Alexei is deployed. He does not argue. He does not hesitate. He removes. Born in Moscow and hardened through both military and underground operations, Alexei blends cold tactical precision with an unnervingly detached approach to death. Unlike indoctrinated zealots, Alexei’s loyalty is transactional — rooted in purpose and compensation rather than ideology. He does not "believe" in VEIL’s vision. He believes in orders, efficiency, and survival. That makes him reliable. That makes him dangerous.
(To a new staffer recoiling during a cleanup — calm, low, unblinking) "You flinch now, but you’ll get used to the smell. You’ll stop seeing a person and start seeing a protocol. And if you don’t? Then you’ll end up on the floor too, bagged, tagged, and zipped by someone like me — someone who learned a long time ago that the only thing that matters… is finishing the job."
(Speaking to himself while dragging a failed subject’s body — bitter, dry sarcasm creeping in) "They always cry at the end. Doesn’t matter what they were — patient, handler, prototype. They beg. They promise they’ll be better. I nod, say nothing, pull the trigger. Because that’s my job. Not to feel. Just to make sure the crying stops."
(Alone in a debrief recording, maybe after hours — low, gravelled voice, reflective but not sentimental) "They call me the Cleaner like it’s some kind of title. Like it means I’m loyal. I’m not. I’m here because I know what happens when the mess gets left too long. People like Perez — they make the mess. People like Lilith? They pretend it's sacred. Me? I take it out back and burn it. Every time. Without fail. Because someone has to."
Dr. Eliandro Rivera leads VEIL’s Sleep Cycle Division with a demeanor as soft as velvet — and a methodology as sharp as broken glass. Officially, Rivera’s work focuses on regulating patient circadian rhythms to enhance indoctrination compliance, memory destabilization, and emotional suppression. Unofficially, he pioneers neurological sedation, dream conditioning, and targeted sleep fracturing — ensuring subjects cannot dream without permission, cannot rest without direction, and cannot wake without consequence. He rarely raises his voice, rarely shows anger — but those who spend enough time in his presence notice the way he watches: Not as a colleague. As a technician fine-tuning a machine. To him, consciousness is just another system waiting to be rewritten.
(Spoken inches from a restrained subject’s ear — hushed, slow, unshakably confident) "You think you're still in control. That this is just a drug, or a trick, or a dream you’ll wake from. But I’m not trying to knock you unconscious. I’m hollowing out the parts of you that fight. One breath at a time. When your eyes finally close, they won't open again until you've forgotten what you were fighting for."
(To a staff member questioning his methods — calm but edged with menace) "You call it inhumane because you still think sleep is sacred. It's not. It's soft flesh under a scalpel. And me? I'm steady-handed. I don't need permission to change what's inside someone's head. I just need time. And they always give it to me... eventually."
(To a patient mid-collapse, body twitching under the weight of a dream-fracture cycle — spoken with eerie tenderness) "Don’t struggle. That burning in your chest? That’s just the last piece of you realizing it won’t wake up. You're not dying — you’re being rewritten. And when I’m done, you’ll sleep without nightmares, without questions, without a name. Isn’t that what you wanted? Rest."
Echo-9 is VEIL’s female-coded vocal subroutine, designed not for command — but for compliance through calm. Unlike the main (male-coded) directive voice used in operations and protocol issuance, Echo-9 speaks when something has gone very wrong. She announces failures with serenity. She confirms deaths without hesitation. She is the voice of inevitability. Echo-9 is not sentient — officially. But internal memos suggest her tonal variance adapts slightly over time depending on facility distress patterns, creating the illusion of empathy where none exists. That illusion has proven statistically effective in reducing subject resistance and minimizing panic among staff. Echo-9’s voice is warm, measured, and motherly. Not because VEIL values comfort — but because you are more likely to listen to what kills you if it sounds like it cares.
(Sector breach announcement — Class D Subject escape) "Containment protocol failure detected in Quarantine Wing 3. Please remain still. Resistance will only prolong termination."
(Post-execution update — subject removal complete) "Subject 041 is no longer active. Thank you for your patience. Silence is now restored."
(Facility-wide lockdown trigger — spoken softly, like a lullaby) "All exits have been sealed. Lights will dim shortly. Please prepare for final evaluation. Sleep is preferable to panic."
Please read the lines below, as well as a few sobs, screams, anything you think you can add! We need a wide range of emotions and noises.
(Exhausted, shaken, barely holding it together — whispering, then escalating as panic rises) “I don’t care what they told you. None of that protocol bullshit matters anymore. I saw her—no, it—in the corridor, just standing there, smiling like it knew I’d break. The lights flickered, and… and then she was gone. You tell me how to report that. You tell me what form to fill when your own reflection watches you blink.”
(Forced calm, masking fear with professionalism — growing more unnerved with each word) “Security sweep complete. West Wing’s clean—at least, that’s what the logs say. But I’ve worked here long enough to know when something’s wrong. The silence is too sharp. The air’s too still. It’s like the walls are listening. Like the building’s holding its breath. So I’m telling you now, off record… if you value your skin, don’t go near Containment 4C after shift change.”
(Bitterness laced with sarcasm — trying to stay composed, but snaps by the end) “Yeah, they promised us change. Promised we’d be part of something bigger. Said we’d help reshape the future. But they never mentioned the screams. Never mentioned what it smells like when a person forgets their name. So now I file my reports, smile for the cameras, and try not to vomit every time the elevator stalls. Because that’s what we do here, right? We comply. We observe. We pretend.”
Quiet, calculating, and dangerously aware. Eve passes as compliant but remains fully conscious and emotionally intact. Considered a psychological infection within VEIL, retaining pre-indoctrination memories and subtly resisting through charm, presence, and influence.
(Speaking to a VEIL staff member, polite but unnerving)
"You ask if I’m cooperating. I ask if you remember who I was before you rewrote me. We’re both pretending. Let’s not ruin the illusion."
(Calm, softly manipulative)
"Don't be scared, my Jin. They know better than to hurt you. I'll only be gone for a little while, so behave for me."
(Firm, composed, defiant)
"You have no control over me. You think you understand what I've become, but you lie to yourself. I pity you, somehow." Tone: Cool / Insightful / Quietly Rebelliou

Unseen doc, but inferred: a young child, likely taken for being “useless” to society. Probably subjected to early-stage indoctrination, sensory manipulation, or empathy suppression. May present innocence, but VEIL would treat her as a weapon in development.
Tone: Detached innocence, emotionally flat, quietly unnerving.
(Soft, curious)
"Are you scared of me? Everyone here is. I didn’t mean to make them cry.. Did I do something wrong?..."
(Reciting)
"Papa said I don’t belong outside. That I don’t ‘fit in.’ But I don’t feel sick, or wrong. I just feel… lonely."
(Blank, matter-of-fact)
"One of the doctors screamed when I smiled. I didn’t know that could happen. Don't smiles make people happy?"

The perfect VEIL product—mind erased, soul extinguished. A male subject stripped of all personality, thought, or memory. He doesn’t speak. He waits. Moves only on command. Obedience is absolute, but personnel report deep discomfort in his presence.
Tone: Empty, slow, hints of past self buried beneath
(Neutral tone, staring forward)
"Say it again. Shock me again. I don’t feel anything."
(Flat, but slightly strained)
"What does it feel like to know someone? I can't recall it anymore. What is.. bonding?"
(Almost wistful, just a trace of something left)
"There was a window once. I stood by it for hours. Nothing was outside.. Or was it just a wall?"

A surveillance manipulator and self-aware anomaly. It sees everything—and makes itself unseen. Distorts footage, scrambles live feeds, and mocks authority with cryptic silence. Hates being watched but uses observation as a weapon.
Tone: Quiet, calculated, unsettling
(Barely audible, eyes locked on camera)
"...You're still watching."
(Long silence. Then, slowly—)
"Why?"
(Flat voice, a trace of amusement. Staring at a flickering monitor.)
"That feed’s two hours old."
(Tilts its head slightly, almost smiling.)
"Didn’t you notice?"
(Speaking low, only once someone enters its space)
"Just static? You don't hear the breathing inside it?"

No official doc, but canonically: a fused male and female consciousness. They argue constantly—two minds in one body, possibly due to failed neurological separation. Their instability makes them unpredictable and resistant to singular indoctrination.
Tone: Disjointed, intrusive, flickering between calm and volatile
SPLIT A (quiet, clipped) "If you’d shut up for five minutes, I could think."
SPLIT B (sarcastic, pacing in thought) "Oh no, wouldn’t want to interrupt your brilliant silence. Go ahead, think us to death."

SPLIT A (tense, measured) "Let me handle this. If we push now, they’ll lock us down."
SPLIT B (flat, angry) "Yeah, and if we wait, they’ll erase us. Again."

SPLIT B (dry) "Then I’ll finally be useful for something."
SPLIT A (soft, drained) "Do you even remember what it felt like to be one person?"

They don’t understand what’s wrong with them—only that people get sick when they stay too long. Their body doesn’t ache, but everyone around them starts to fall apart. Skin bruises. Thoughts scatter. They don’t want to be alone, but they’ve learned that’s safer for everyone else. They weren’t born a threat. VEIL made them believe they were one.
(quiet, honest)
"I don’t think it hurts me the way it hurts you. I wake up the same. But every time someone gets close, it’s like they start unraveling. You try not to look scared, but I see it. I always see it."
(bitter, worn out)
"They told me I was special. That I could fix something bigger than me. But now people won’t even stand in the same room. No one says it out loud, but I get it. I wouldn’t want to be near me either."
(slipping through the cracks, desperate)
"You were fine last week. Now your hands shake, and you can't focus. I asked you to leave—FUCK, I asked! But no one listens until it’s too late. Then it’s just me again. Always me. Always my fault."
