PRIM - A RWBY fangame and original story

PRIM - A RWBY fangame and original story

Project Overview

PRIM (Pronounced "Prime") is a fan made game based in the world of Remnant (the world of RWBY). It follows two teams of original characters during their first year at Beacon Academy. Yes, all characters are completely original, save for Professor Ozpin. (Oh, and the shopkeep.) The game features alternative endings, character relationship paths, and pair of protagonists that each provide their own unique perspective on the story and gameplay. This project will be distributed on Patreon.  Here's the link for that: https://www.patreon.com/ZDPrince

-You may provide an alternative take on a character that does not follow the description if it's suitable and outstanding

-You are encouraged to do something special with your audition, ad-lib, improvise a bit if you like

-You are encouraged to have at least some knowledge on RWBY and its lore, but it's not necessary

Role assigned to: Strider Icarus

Ivory is a tinkerer at heart, with a love for machinery of all kinds. Inventing, upgrading, building from scratch, he's well versed in all three. He may not look it from his clothing, but Ivory is a bit of a gearhead, and one hell of a mechanic.

He's a very kind person, who seeks to help others in any way he can. He's polite and composed to an almost intimidating degree, though when mechanics are involved, he may get excited and overstep his boundaries.

And if he's in combat...you'd be surprised at just what he's capable of doing.

**NOTE: This is a male character**

If you would like an idea for how his voice might sound: Adam Howden. https://www.behindthevoiceactors.com/Adam-Howden/

  • "Pastel ((Past-El)), how does a little bit of extra luck sound right about now?"

  • "Well, what happened is: No one reminded me to go home, so I spent the whole night in the shop, and most of today too. I'm very tired."

  • (excitedly) "The collapsible sniper rifle is named Silent Treatment, and all the expanding spears are called Doctor Lobotomy collectively. For now, they're more of a whole medical team than just a surgeon, eh?"

(confused) "What do you mean 'what is it?' It's a chain-spear-belt."

Marín Plavet, another member of team PRIM. She's a bengal tiger faunus with a penchant for being overly serious. She's blunt and no-nonsense in a large portion of her interactions, but she does have a technically softer side that breaks through from time to time.

While her clothing wouldn't necessarily indicate it, Marín is a utilitarian. She's pragmatic, hard-working, and methodical in almost everything she does. She does have her own hobbies and interests, but seeing as she's largely taciturn, you'd be hard pressed to even know what they are, much less to find her engaging in them.

If you're looking for an idea of where to start for a voice: https://www.behindthevoiceactors.com/Erica-Mendez/ as Maki in Dongonronpa v3

  • (blunt and matter-of-factly) "Do you have a death wish?"

  • (Battlecry) "HYYAAA!"

  • (being caught enjoying a hobby) "...You saw nothing here. Are we clear?"

Roman Shiruba, the final member of team PRIM. Roman is...an interesting personality, to say the least. He's a naturally curious person, and generally aloof and unaware of his surroundings (though he is also rather excitable). He's a scholar of sorts, at least in the sense that he's rather knowledgeable about a wide number of academic topics, but whatever academic knowledge he does possess is overshadowed by his complete lack of social knowledge.

You see, Roman hasn't had that many chances for social interaction in his life. He's spent a lot of time locked up in his room, reading. As such...he's completely and utterly oblivious. He has no idea what social cues are, which, paired with his curious nature, means he ends up making most situations feel awkward, and breaking people's boundaries. He means well, and he is quite intelligent, but...to say that he's socially inept would be an understatement.

If you're looking for an idea of where to start for a voice: consider Monty Oum in RWBY as Lie Ren.

  • (scholarly) "I was planning on doing some personal research into some faunus genealogy reports. something happened to me recently, so the topic has piqued my interest."

  • (busting in while someone is in the shower, but oblivious) "Hey...Pastel ((Past-el))? Why is there a broom in our window?"

  • (cocky, but gets cut off by walking into a wall.) "And that's why you never challenge Roman Shiruba, master of the way of the bl-  oof!"

Mint Fae

cast offsite

Mint is smug as can be (most of the time). She's very particular about her mannerisms and appearance. She portrays herself as very proud, elegant, and confident individual, but she's ultimately putting on a front to hide some deep-seated insecurities regarding how the family before her current foster family treated her. Underneath the front, she's relatively anxious, lonely, and afraid of judgement. This doesn't show often, but it breaks through every now and then.

If you're looking for a place to start with the voice: Cassandra Lee Morris is a nice example, particularly for playing Edea Lee in Bravely Default and Bravely Second, https://www.behindthevoiceactors.com/Cassandra-Lee-Morris/, and also Kara Eberle, who voices Weiss in RWBY.

  • "What's a' matter? Can't keep up?"

  • "Hm. That's cute. I bet you're even proud of that."

  • "Think you can manage this one, pretty boy?"

(more vulnerable, but then mock anger at the end) "Hey, can you...stay for a while? Don't laugh, but...it's kinda lonely around here, right now. Hey! I said don't laugh!"

Role assigned to: BrookeMorganVA

Lily is the last member of team AMML, and Mint's partner. Lily is a constant bundle of pep and excitement. She's optimistic to a fault, pumped about life in general, and relaxed in her social interactions. She's confident in herself, almost overly so due to her optimism, but she's not arrogant. If anything, she's quite friendly, accomodating, and approachable to almost everyone. Despite her typically high level of energy, and penchant for going a little crazy in combat, she's pretty chill when it comes to normal converstations.

If you're looking for somewhere to start on with the voice: Amanda Celine Miller for playing Junko Enoshima in Danganronpa https://www.behindthevoiceactors.com/Amanda-Celine-Miller/ and Laura Bailey as partically Lucina from fire emblem and especially Kaine from nier, are good examples.  https://www.behindthevoiceactors.com/Laura-Bailey/

  • "I dunno, man. I'm just pumped as hell to be here."

    (excited, cheerful, with pep)

  • "I'm all for giving moral support, but if you wanna get philosophical, I'm probably not your girl"

(a little bit sheepish, but still happy and joking)

  • "One of us is going to enjoy this. And let me tell 'ya, it ain't gonna be you, buddy."

(crazy, cocky, about to kick someone's teeth in)

    "Aw, hell yeah, dude."

    (excited, friendly)

Magnolia Dew

Magnolia is a member of team AMML.  She is generally shy, modest, and quiet. She tends to be reserved around most people, but is incredibly warm and comforting to those she's close to. She's confident, if a bit self-conscious at times. Underneath all of that...she's got her fair share of issues, mostly due to her family.  Her weapon of choice is a greatsword/spear combo with a shield. The shield may also boat a chainsaw attachment. She's got a bit of an explosive backstory and a mechanical arm.

If you're looking for a place to start on the voice: both Tara Platt for playing Mitsuru Kirijo in persona 3 https://www.behindthevoiceactors.com/Tara-Platt/, and Skye Bennett for playing Pyra in xenoblade 2 work well. https://www.behindthevoiceactors.com/Skye-Bennett/.

  • "So...partners then? Glad to hear it."

(warm, soft, happy with the situation)

  • "Oh, um, I'm not really...I don't...you know...It's just a bit excessive, is all."

    (nervous)

  • "You must be hungry. Come on, sit down. I'll fix you up something nice and warm."

    (motherly, inviting)

[[Just the best fearful scream/rant you can manage. For context, magnolia isn't fond of fire]]

Professor Ozpin

Professor Ozpin is the Headmaster of Beacon Academy, and a powerful figure in his own right. He is both stoic and affable, being blunt and matter of fact about life threatening situations, but being friendly and open to most who speak to him. He often gives the impression that he knows much more about the situation than he's letting on, which isn't entirely false. In the end, Ozpin is an enigmatic yet powerful guiding force, an inspirational figure to many, and a man who believes strongly in the greater good.

Voice refrence:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pThpAJ0OOgk

  • "Welcome, to Beacon Academy."

  • "Do not hesitate to destroy everything in your path...or you will die."

(blunt, matter of fact, a bit humorous)

  • "There are a great many things to fear in this world, Mr. Aquarelle  ((Ackwa-rell)). But I find time to be the most worthy of that fear."

    (sagelike, warning/cautioning)

"The job of a Huntsman is, first and foremost, to protect the people. To reach this goal, you must be the one who pushes yourself to achieve even greater heights with the utilities we provide you. So, you possess the talent, we provide the means to refine it, but it is up to you to take the first step."

(wise, mystical, giving a speech, as he is prone to doing)

Commissioner Graves

Graves is the head of the police department in the city of Vale. Considering his line of work, he's often stressed, overworked, or lost in thought. Despite this, even when staring into space, it's clear that he's quite intelligent, diligent, competent, and incredibly dedicated to his job. He has a soft spot for Beacon students, as they tend to have a keen sense of justice, and contrarily, he has little patience for the incompetent.

If you're looking for a place to start with the voice: Clancy Brown is a good example, specifically for playing Hank in Detroit: Become Human. https://www.behindthevoiceactors.com/Clancy-Brown/

  • "Could you all come down to the station? You're not in trouble, just need your help with somethin'."

  • "I'll be frank with you, kids. This plan I've come up with is stupid. But looking at our current resources...it's our best choice."

  • "Commissioner Graves, Vale PD. I came out here since it was a major incident, but my boys here say that we have you to thank for cleaning up our mess."

Grímur
open

Grímur is one of PRIM's antagonists, and is largely an anomaly, motives and all. He's cocky, excitable, and about as crazy and full of blood-lust as it gets. Though, despite how crazy he is, he doesn't appear to be unstable, or easily angered. His voice should be deeper, though his two example actors are phenomenal as examples, gravelly, and he does also hear a mask shaped like a skull, though this detail isn't required for the audition.

Examples: Jonathan Keeble as Xord from Xenoblade Chronicles https://www.behindthevoiceactors.com/Jonathan-Keeble/

and Timothy Watson as Mumkhar from Xenoblade Chronicles are both good examples. https://www.behindthevoiceactors.com/Timothy-Watson/

  • (excited, in a sing-song voice, threatening) "Oh? And what do we have here? Boys! We've got a job to do!"

  • (threatening, after capturing a hostage) "Hold on a minute there! You wouldn't want me to hurt your little friend here, would you? It'd be a right shame if I turned him into my next meal!"

  • (taunting, in response to being attacked) "You're gonna have to try HARDER!!"

(while in the offensive in combat, threatening.) "I'll turn your bones into a PASTE!!"

Pandora

Pandora is another one of PRIM's (less important) antagonists, and Grímur's unwilling partner in crime. She's condescending to the people she has power over and easily frustrated, but intelligent and tactical.

Examples: Laura Bailey as Kaine from Nier, is a good example. https://www.behindthevoiceactors.com/Laura-Bailey/

  • (condescending, giving orders) "Hey, meat shields. Why don't you make yourselves useful for once and get everyone out of our way?"

  • (bored, giving orders) "Alright, split yourselves into four groups. You imbeciles can at least handle that without having an aneurysm."

  • (in response to Grim going crazy on a mission) "Smart play, Grim. You sent your 'message', and now the entire police force is on its way here as collateral."

Palindel

Role assigned to: Poppletron

Palindel is a supporting antagonist, mostly seen as the leader of Grímur's lackeys. He takes his job pretty seriously, and he's known to hold onto grudges quite strongly. beyond that, he doesn't talk the most, so his motives, while deep rooted and certainly present, are relatively unknown. Preferably hold a bit of a lower pitch and a darker tone in your voice.

  • (showing a modicum of actual interest, following through on a grudge)  "Don't think I've formally introduced myself. Name's Palindel, and now that I've finally got the chance...I'm going to enjoy kicking your teeth in."

  • (guarding a shop while Grímur does his thing inside, uninterested)  "Shop's closed, kiddos. Come back another day."

  • (determined, unmoved when asked why he's working for criminals) "Don't get me wrong. I've got no real allegiance to these guys. But they're giving me the chance to take a shot at the man I hate the most. No way in hell am I passing that up."

Mavras Starfall
open

Mavras is the current CEO of Starfall Industries, the world's largest corporation, and a weapons conglomerate. He's serious and businesslike, rarely having time for anything for his company. He's even curt with his only son the vast majority of the time, though a modicum of concern breaks through every now and then.

Examples: Jamieson Price, notably as Sojiro from Persona 5 or as the cocktail trivia guy from Catherine. https://www.behindthevoiceactors.com/Jamieson-Price/

  • (showing slight concern, stern, demanding)  "If any issues arise, you're going back on your medications. Until then, I'm giving you the chance to prove you don't need them. Are we clear?"

  • (talking about a company he has a large partnership with)  "The day Providence starts slacking is the day both companies lose their biggest partners."

  • (stern, curt)

"Everything I've taught you has led to this moment. To this one opportunity. I hope you understand that."
