Hey! We're casting for a Halloween jam visual novel. It's a gothic / psychological horror story about a "saintess" who's convinced herself that stripping people of pain and free will is the same thing as love, and the knight slowly realizing he's living inside her fairy tale. Yandere X Yandere.
Project: Visual novel, Ren'Py engine, planned 20k words of script total
Jam: Spooktober 8th Annual Visual Novel Jam.
Submissions run September 1 to October 1, 2026. There's a Best Voice Actor category with a $100 prize on the line.
Pay: Unpaid jam project. Full credit in the game.
Prize / if won : If you win the best VA, money will be sent to you fully ($100), if we win 1/2/3 prizes : money will be divided between team members.
Recording window: All lines must be recorded in September 2026. And must be done by 23rd of september so I can trim the lines and put it in the game.

Psychological manipulation and abuse
Loss of autonomy and free will (mind control themes)
Graphic violence and body horror, described in detail
On-screen character death
Possessive, controlling relationship dynamics (yandere themes)

Screaming and intense vocal distress
Brief child endangerment in flashback content
Religious institutional abuse
No sexual content.
No slurs.
If any of the above is a hard limit for you, totally understand.
Voice Actor
Soft, warm tone, proper, posh and princess-like. The Saintess of the kingdom, and the story's narrator. She genuinely believes she's saving everyone around her, including the knight she's slowly turning into a puppet. Needs to stay sweet and sincere even while the character says increasingly unhinged things. No trace of menace in the delivery, ever, that's what makes her scary. Secretly a yandere but it's revealed halfway in. (British accent)

Voice Actor
Bit raspy, mid-to-low range, mercenary energy. Evangeline's sworn knight, and secretly the only person who can see what she really is. Polite and formal to her face, always "my lady" and "Saintess," while he's actually kinda unhinged under it. Needs range from clipped and controlled to full obsessive breakdown. (Also Yandere, any accent)

Stern, heavy, low bass, booming when he commands a room. Evangeline's father and the Archbishop. Two modes : in public a stern father, in private a father who enabled his daughter's impulses because he feels guilty. (British accent)

Soft-spoken at first, escalates fast and hard once pushed. A visiting bishop who starts out as a mildly suspicious outsider and ends up finding the truth. Needs to go from composed and diplomatic to full-throated screaming without sounding like a different character. Androgynous-looking.
