Portal 2: Google Translate Edition

Project Overview

What if you took all of the dialogue and text of Portal 2, put it through several languages in Google Translate, translate it back to English, then voice act it? The result is a strange, bootlegged, and horribly mistranslated version of the puzzle game we all know and love. Welcome to Portal 2: Google Translate Edition, also known as Portugal 2! You may be familiar with some of my past work including Half-Life: Google Translate Edition and Portal: Google Translate Edition, as well as the work-in-progress Half-Life 2: Google Translate Edition. For the uninitiated, giving games the Google Translate treatment involves taking all of the dialogue, textures (that have legible words on them), UI text, menu text, and subtitles, and making them as wackily and hilariously mistranslated as possible. One of the defining features of my mods is that all of the dialogue is not only mistranslated but voice-acted. This gives these mods a unique, janky, silly, and often disorienting tone that adds greatly to the experience.

If you are looking for an opportunity to voice some of your favorite Portal 2 characters except with totally mistranslated and incomprehensible dialogue, you've come to the right place! I will let you know up front that these are all unpaid roles. I am currently searching for voice actors for Wheatley, the Announcement System, Space Core, Adventure Core, Fact Core, Caroline, and Developer Commentary (The roles of GLaDOS, Cave Johnson, Sentry Turrets, and Defective Turrets have already been taken. We also already have a texture artist). If you are looking for a relatively easy role to audition for, Developer Commentary is your best bet, as this role will be given to 8 different people. Caroline is also an easier role, with only 5 lines.

Expectations for voice actors

-Have at least a semi-decent microphone (does not have to be professional-grade at all, just has to not sound terrible)

-Having a Discord is strongly preferred

-Have lines finished by May of next year (I can grant extensions if necessary)

-Be good about communication

-Have fun with your role!

Developer Commentary (8 roles available)

Valve often puts a Developer Commentary mode in their games, to give some behind-the-scenes info on the development process of their games. You can go absolutely wild with how you interpret these lines, but generally, it is best to sound like a geeky game developer talking about their game. There are a total of 82 lines for the developer commentary, so this role will be given to 8 different people with 10 lines each (I will voice lines 81 and 82).

  • Hi, my name is Gabby Neville, welcome to Portal 2. When the portal opened in 2007, these players were experimenting with different games and stories. Many prizes were received at the door and many copies were sold. One student told the audience what the title looked like. Our challenge to make Box 2 was to meet people's expectations. Not only will you return to the world of eagles and globes, but players will be amazed at their diversity. And I think that’s the most amazing thing. Note: Cut your hair in watermark and press the app button. Note: Deleting the Node Place your razor on the rotating lemon and press the button to apply. You can control some information in the game to reveal other. In this case, press the button again to end the conversation. Open Portal 2 and leave your report. You can contact me at [email protected] to run the game permanently and receive 10,000 emails. If I can't answer everything, I will learn everything. Thank you
