Project Overview

Hello, I'm making an animated short with my classmate and friend Lauren. We are currently looking for three voice actors for the project about two animals struggling to live with one another as roommates. Our deadline for this project is May 4th 2021, so it will be completed within the next few months. I have included a preview of our animated, as well as descriptions of what happens in the scenes that I need voice actors for. This is the audition as well as what I will be using in the final version, so try and make your auditions as clear as possible and try to read out every line. If you are auditioning with a real and are chosen, I will send you the same lines to read for the final film.

  • Line update!

    I accidentally wrote a line improperly for Kitty! The line originally was "You'd prefer it if she lived here, don't you!" but I've fixed it to :: "You'd prefer it if she lived here, wouldn't you!" Which is the proper way to say it If anyone has auditioned for Kitty and wants to redo that line you may! You can post more than one audition so don't worry about the original audition being discounted, no need to redo the whole thing. Otherwise if you cant and get the role you'll be asked to redo it later.

Bear is a kind, considerate and relaxed character. He is very polite, but not a pushover. He is quite well spoken, but not particularly posh. Just a regular accent, more deep rather than a higher pitched voice.

  • Breakdown of scene - Had to clean up roommate's mess after she had a party. More playful than mad, but has a bit more of an assertive voice rather than being completely fine with it.


    (Playful) Had fun last night?

    (Playful) Maybe give me a warning next time

    (Maybe do a couple takes with a chuckle, or a different tone to the voice)

  • Breakdown of scene - In this scene Bear is coming home from a date, the conversation is mundane and meant to be edited to be in the background later on, so don't worry about getting the perfect tone. It's mainly upbeat and a fun conversation with a date.


    "That was so good, I'm stuffed."


    "That ice-cream sounds great right about now though..."



    Breakdown of scene - In this scene Bear is in his room with his date, they are just talking nonsense.

    "I've got a good one. Okay here goes..."

    "What do you call an alligator that's a detective?....An Investigator!"

    Or just insert a random joke yourself that you find funny.


    Breakdown of this scene - Bear is telling his date/girlfriend, Puppi, a story from work.

    "And then, I told him that his shoelaces were done up too tight"

    "Yeah, and he still gave me the job!"

  • Break down of scene - Bear has just gotten home with his date to find that Kitty is having another party without warning. Bear is upset by this and is a bit less forgiving. and more confrontational. In this scene the two have an argument and Bear chases after Kitty. Kitty expresses she is frustrated and worried that Bear will want to move in with his new girlfriend.


    "Kitty, what did I tell you?!


    "You could’ve told me you were having a party!”


    "Well yeah, but we’re back now! I didn’t expect this!"


    "Kitty, wait!"


    "Kitty I-"


    "What?"

    "Kitty what are you talking about-?"

    "I’m sorry I didn’t realise you felt like that. I’d never kick you out, we're friends aren’t we?"

    "Kitty, what are you trying to say?

Kitty is very outgoing, spontaneous and bubbly. She is quite passionate and gets in her own feelings very easily. You can give her any voice you think would suit her design, just as long as you don't make her softspoken.

  • Breakdown of scene : Kitty has just come out of her room after having a big party the night before. She is tired and starts talking to her roommate who is a little bit annoyed with her for her mess, however he is forgiving and banters with her instead of being condescending. She has a crush on Bear so she flirts with him a little.

    (Yawn) “Too much fun. Sorry about the mess"


    “I’ll consider it, only because it’s you” Teasing jokey


    Small/light giggle to herself. Sort of like a "hm hmm" laugh.


  • Breakdown of scene: Kitty is working up the courage to ask Bear out via text. She is pacing up and down and hypes herself up.

    (Breathing out/deep sigh)

    Determined
    "Okay!"

  • Breakdown of scene: Bear has just declined Kitty's invite to her gig practice in favour of his girlfriend and is neglecting their friendship. Kitty is frustrated and takes it out on him by throwing a party and having the gig at their apartment and doesn't tell him. Bear comes home, annoyed and the two argue. Kitty starts out being rude then becomes hysterically upset. She is frustrated in this scene and believes that Bear wants to move out and would rather be living with his girlfriend. She also feels frustrated because she likes Bear and wants to confess to him in this scene. Before she can, Bear's girlfriend walks onto the balcony they are arguing on. 

    Very snarky, rude. "What's the problem?"

    Snarky and rude. "What's it to you? I thought you were going out with Puppi tonight." Sarcastic tone.


    "If you want peace and quiet why don't you just go back to her place instead?!"


    Cuts bear off and begins shouting, is upset.

    "You’re kicking me out, aren’t you?!”

    "You’d prefer it if she lived here, wouldn't you?!"

    " You’re never around and when you are it’s with her! I don’t get to see you anymore!"

    "That's the problem!"

    Mellows out after this. Feels embarrased.

    "Bear, I-"

Puppi is Bear's girlfriend. She is sweet and funny and kind. She is soft spoken and has a medium to low pitch voice.

  • Breakdown of scene - Puppi is Bear's girlfriend. The two just got back from a date together and are making chit chat. It's mundane and will be edited to play in the background of the scene or in a room next over.

    "Yeah, I wish I had room for dessert, the menu looked so yummy!"

    (Laughing at one of Bear's jokes)

    (Laughing at another joke) "Oh! That's a good one!"


  • Breakdown of scene - Bear and Puppi are having a dinner together in his apartment. Mundane chit chat together.

    (Shocked)"You said that to him?"

    "Wow that's crazy!"

  • Breakdown of scene - Bear is about to chase out his roommate onto the balcony after they have had an argument. Puppi tries to indicate to bear that its not worth it. Short line.

    "Bear..."
