Project Overview

Palmwood Sky is a cartoon series about two best friends, Arden Young and Jaiden Jones, and their mission to save Palmwood city's oldest petshop, "Mr Daylight's Petstore", from closing down. This is a petstore that has been around since before they were born and it is owned by Mr Daylight, a very important figure in their life. They face ups and downs and several challenges along the way, as any good story should. The series is meant to be lighthearted (mostly) and very wholesome. It is filled to the brim with jokes and some of the wackiest characters you'll ever play. 


For this series I am looking for several different roles to be filled. Of course I'll need several voice actors, but the roles open up to so much more than that! There are publicity, animating, sound designing, managing, storyboarding, script writing and so many more opportunities!


You may audition for as many roles and jobs as you'd like. You can audition for both voice acting and tech roles as well (you aren't limited to just being a voice actor or just being a technician). 


Requirements: 

1. All voice actors must be at least 13 years of age. There are some darker themes that will be played out, and although it'll be rare, it is still a possibility.

2. Please have discord!!! If you don't, make sure you either have an email I can send lines to, or a skype. 

3. This series will either end on the pilot episode, or it'll continue going further. It all depends on how the audience feels about its turnout. If they want more, we'll make more! With that being said, it is important that you stay committed to the series for however long it lasts. (The plan is only a single season of five episodes, if we are to make more)


Once you're cast you will be private messaged a link to the discord server. Follow said link and this is where you will find the script, where you can get to know the other's working on this project, as well as any other information you'll need. 


Notes:

There is no set design or name. Everything is still being decided. I have provided images of what the general idea is for each character, but please know that designs and certain lines or scenes may change!

  • Hello to everyone who auditioned!

    All characters will be cast by May 1st starting from today. We will begin sorting through auditions so we can decide who we want to cast for each role. After we are done with all the casting, the casting call deadline will be pushed forward a week to allow all tech positions to be filled up before we begin the project. Thank you to all of those who have auditioned and I look forward to seeing who we'll be working with soon enough! That's all for now! Bye! Arden is thirteen years old in the pilot episode. He has a medium in deepness kind of voice, that squeaks quite often. He is sometimes goofy and likes to make jokes here and there, especially when he's around Jaiden. He has a pet Chameleon that he got a year before the time the pilot episode takes place in, which he named Chameleon. He's very mature for his age and is incredibly smart. When voicing him think of a male version of Pidge from Voltron. He is the main character of the series, next to his best friend Jaiden Jones who appears nearly as much as he does.

  • Sure! You can tag along. Actually, it's funny, Mr Daylight's been asking about you. Any time I go to his shop without you it's the same question, "Why isn't Jaiden Jones with you, Arden? I thought you two were inseparable" (laughs) 

  • (Pumps his fist into the air) Spice it up!

    (settling down) After school tomorrow meet me under the willow tree in Palmwood Forest. You know the place. We can talk about our plan there.

  • Gotta admire his confidence. The man knows he's gonna get shut down (full of emotion) but still he tries!

Jaiden is twelve years old in the pilot episode. She has a clear and soft voice. She is very goofy and likes to make a lot of jokes, especially when she's around Arden. She's very attentive and pays attention to details. She enjoys talking and is often the center of attention. When voicing her think of Lapis Lazuli from Steven Universe. She is a main character in the series, next to her best friend Arden Young.

Mr. Daylight is 76 years old. Think of him as the wise old man of the town. He's very silly and loves making jokes. He's full of emotion and talks slightly loud. He owns the "Mr Daylight's Petstore", which is currently being run out of business by bigger corporations that are opening up in the town. He has owned the business for over thirty years. It was passed down to him by his father after his decease.  He has a decently deep voice, but it still must be able to play the silliness and joy of the character. 

  • Well, I'll be darned, Arden Young and Jaiden Jones, together like always! What will it be today, kids? The usual?


  • Well, you see. When big stores open around smaller ones. It makes it harder for the smaller ones to compete.

Mr Wales is 35 years old. He's Jaiden and Arden's history teacher. He's a huge nerd and loves science fiction novels and tv shows. Think of anyone from Sheldon's group in the big bang theory. Or even Reginald 'Skull' Skulinski from Monster House. He snaps really easily at Bradley Collins, who he later admits is his least favorite student. He's a caring teacher overall and has an intense knowledge of world facts that he keeps at his disposal, most are outdated though.

Bradley is the class jerk. He enjoys picking on other kids and often times chooses Arden as his target. His voice is very deep and he's a big airhead. He talks nearly monotone. He's a jock. He likes to do his own thing and often times doesn't care what other's think of him. If he wants to start picking on someone in the middle of a teacher's lecture, he's gonna do it. He should be played as an angsty teenager 100 percent.

Jessica is thirteen years old. She's the "mean girl" of the class. She talks in a very annoying voice, that makes her sound cocky and stupid.  Think of a typical mean girl voice, but change it up a bit so it doesn't sound like all the other's. She doesn't appear too often, but when she does all hell breaks loose. She often goes after Jaiden, making fun of her for hanging out with Arden so much instead of people as popular as her.

Corbin is currently a minor character, but the plan is to slowly turn him into a supporting role. His voice is very goofy. He's a kid with a lot of nerves and energy with no idea how to control it! He's awkward and clumsy. He has a huge crush on Jaiden and refuses to take no for an answer, so he is constantly finding ways to impress her. He isn't particularly loud, but he's also not quiet.

This role can be cast to either a female va or a male va as the character's gender doesn't matter. Therefore there is no set voice. You should sound like a caring parent. Experiment with different voices as well!

As a story boarder, it will be your job to work side by side with the producers, editors and designers to create an animatic for each episode. This will give a layout so the animators have a backbone to work off of.
