Original Work VA call: Beyond the Clouds
Project Overview
In a world above the clouds, two best friends escape from an orphanage aboard a stolen ship that they take around the world, searching for the fabled Farlands, and a new life.
Hey y'all. I'm back with a new call. The script edits are happening right now, so I'm looking for Voice Actors! Exciting stuff. Beyond the Clouds is (hopefully) going to be an animated action/adventure feel good series. This is a passion project, and I am but a college student, so unfortunately there is no pay. For now. If something comes out of this, then sweeeeeeeet we get paid.
The style will hopefully be essence of ghibli, but with disney like animation style.
Right now, I can say that there are floating 'islands' that civilization is built upon. Like, they can be city sized islands. Big. Also airships.
I'm doing this entirely for fun, and if you're joining, I hope you'll have fun too! Maybe this will go somewhere, maybe it'll end at the pilot, who knows how far this will take us.
Audition Requirements:
- Good audio quality, as little noise/echo as possible
- 3 varying takes per line please!
- For any of the roles, improv or ad-libbing is ok!
And if you're cast:
- Congrats!
- Be nice to everyone else in the cast/crew
- Keep all information about Beyond the Clouds to yourself, no leaks
- Be readily available to contact, don't go AWOL
- If for any reason you have to leave the project, don't worry, just let me know beforehand

Audition extention
Thank you all for your wonderful auditions! This project page may be ending, but I will be making another post to extend the audition period. You're not required to re-audition at all, but you may do so if you please. There are, however, a few changes made in the new casting call like new characters, so I encourage you all the check it out! Once again, this project is still on-going. We just won't be making casting decisions until the end of the second casting call. Thadea is a 16 year old girl who grew up in an orphanage. Her home life is good, but what she really wants to do is explore the big open skies. She is very book smart, has a knack for engineering, and will often bring back little toys to tinker with. She's energetic, likes to take risks, and is 300% sarcasm. She is best friends with Alec.

Well yea! Of course! Sailing through the open skies, visiting far away cities, exploring undiscovered land. That's the dream. But I mean, it IS a children's book.
Come on, we'd better get back before we get our asses kicked by the matrons again.

Alec is a 16 year old boy who has been in the orphanage since he was 11. He is well spoken, and tends to be calm/controlled. He is a theater nerd. He doesn't trust people very easily, and isn't afraid to let others be hurt if it benefits his friends. Alec is also energetic, though not quite to Thadea's degree, he's more controlled. He may seem a little uptight at first, but he's tries to break away from that. He is best friends with Thadea.

Yea! Aren't you all into that engineering stuff with your little machines you bring back. You could, I don't know, use a hammer to smack the engine until it starts.

Lance is a small clockwork bot, or clockhead. Lance goes by they/them, though people will often refer to them as he/it, which they dislike. Lance is a class E navigation bot, the cheapest kind one can get. They're timid, nervous, fidgets a lot, but can have their moments of uncharacteristic braveness. Although Lance is a lower spec bot, they are quite capable at what they're built to do, and will not crack under pressure. They have big dreams of going out exploring, following their own path. They don't like being commanded around, and can be defiant against that sometimes, but it's a hard habit to break when it's a function they were created with.

Oh, um, sorry.. Uhh, ahem. Psst, hey. Are you guys stealing a ship? You, uh, you have that kinda look.. y'know. Not many people hang around down here at night and-

There's a key on the desk inside that office. Also there's a guard in there, but they should be asleep.

Cathe is one of the matrons of the orphanage. She is soft spoken, and can seem like an old soul.

Julie is one of the matrons of the orphanage. She is more 'hip' with the kids, acts more relaxed around them than Cathe does. She is very playful, though will still enforce the rules when needed to.
