OneShot: The Musical + Voice Acting Mod
Project Overview
Hey guys, NickDoesVoices here! (I know on CastingCallClub, it says my name is DragonShield. I have the basic account level and cannot change my name on here). I'm proud to announce something big. OneShot: The Musical + Voice Acting Mod. OneShot is a game that I recently played and instantly fell in love with, and I noticed that it hasn't been getting too much love online, so I decided to change that. Every character in the game who has a face sprite in the files has, in my eyes, been deemed an "important character" and will be cast with a voice actor. All other random NPCs will be voiced by chorus members
The Musical: This musical will be taking numerous parts of the soundtrack from the game and giving them lyrics! The musical will be staying true to the story of the game, while also making extremely minor adjustments to allow it to flow smoother as a musical.
The Mod: The game is simply wonderful, but one thing I've always wanted from it is Voice Acting. After much trial and error, I have discovered a way to mod the game. All that will be done to the game is adding voice acting to ALL dialogue to BOTH the main game and the Solstice bonus chapter.
Currently, auditions will be open until the end of May, and then may possibly be pushed back after that.
NOTE; PLEASE (IF POSSIBLE) HAVE THE FOLLOWING:
-A decent microphone
-An understanding of the plot (You can get the game on steam or spend about 5 hours watching a play-through on YouTube)
-Discord
-Commitment so you won't drop out half way into the project
-Be comfortable working with a large cast

Hey guys, I'm not going to go into detail, but basically I'm going to have to cancel this project. I've been working on other projects in the background and realized that I'm just not suited to be a director. On top of that, this project became a chore more than a passion project. If I made myself continue working on the project, it will end up being horrible and not the quality that I would like it to be. Sorry guys!

Last Chance!
This is your last chance to audition! It all closes at the and of August! -
Auditions will be open longer than expected! + New Role?!?!
I planned on having the project cast by this point, but after doing some thinking, I've decided to keep auditions open until the end of August! That being said, onto something much more important. Making this musical started off as a passion project, but quickly became a chore to work on, so I will be adding a Lyricist role! Check that role down bellow for some more information! -
Something I forgot to mention.
The role of the Player will not be voiced in the mod, so whomever casted as the play will not be needed for the Mod side of the project, unless they wish to help with voicing various NPCs. Also the role of the World Machine will have no singing, so there is an option for those who you who cannot sing or wish not to.
Niko is the playable protagonist of OneShot. They have blue hair, yellow catlike eyes, a blue scarf wrapped around a brown overcoat extending over their arms, a brown hat with catlike ears, and what appears to be tanned skin which sometimes looks black when in darker areas. They are tasked with returning the Sun to the Tower and saving the World from dying out.
Niko contacts the Player throughout most of the game when in need of help or simply conversation about Niko's and the Player's origins.
Niko is kind and caring. Being the messiah that the prophecy has foretold, they became determined to reach the Spire and bring the sun back to it in order to save the World, even despite what others say that the sun won't stop the World from dying. Niko is also helpful. A few instances of their helpfulness are seen in the game such as where they repair the rowbot at the dock part in the Barrens and volunteer to find Alula and return her to Calamus. Upon reaching the Refuge, they began to express indecisiveness, as seen where they have trouble choosing whether to bring back the World's sun but risk losing their only chance to return to their home world or whether to shatter the lightbulb, destroying the World instantly and for them to return to their home world. Niko also tends to be curious. They often turn to the Player to ask questions, most of them are regarding any information about the Player.
Ah. I'm awake. I had a dream just now. I...I really thought I was back home... Oh, the sun back in my home world isn't a lightbulb. It's a big ball of fire in the sky! I don't think I would be able to hold it like I do with the sun from your world...
The sun in my home world is very bright. Warm, too! You saw, right? But it goes away sometimes, at night. Everything gets dark, kinda like how this world is now. But it;s okay because the sun always comes back the next day. That's good, don't you think?

The Player, also known as god, is the secondary protagonist of OneShot. Out-of-universe, they are the player moving Niko; in-universe, they are the god of the World, tasked with guiding Niko through it and saving them along with the World in one shot. The Player's name is by default the username on your PC, but this can be changed when Niko asks the player's name when they first contact the player.
Based on in-game dialogue and options, The Player is equally as determined as Niko to save the world. They often lend Niko their aid in puzzle solving and deciding what action to take next, acting as an adviser or strategist to Niko.
The Player has proven themselves to be very resourceful, as they are able to improvise solutions and plan for the future on-the-fly. It is implied that The Player is solely managing Niko's inventory (as Niko will remark on The Player's inventory decisions), demonstrating that The Player is able to combine and repurpose countless items to suit the cause, speeding Niko's progress through the world.
The Player is known to easily collapse under guilt, as they are completely unable to hide the truth about The Sun from Niko, even if the out-of-universe user deliberately chooses the "keep quiet" options. The World Machine even taunts The Player for their immense care for Niko by saying "You might as well tell Niko the truth. You do care about Niko, don't you?".
As evidenced by The Player's in-game title being "god" and not "God", The Player has several abilities beyond the boundaries of the game but is neither omnipotent nor omniscient. This is referenced at least once at the end of the game when The Player learns the truth about The Sun for the first time, and admits to Niko that they don't know what will happen to them.

The World Machine is a simulation of the world itself. It could be considered as the spirit of the world. It was created by the Author in order to recreate the old world in a simulation, but it deteriorated itself over time.
The Entity appears as a stern and pessimistic character throughout the game. However, in the Solstice ending, they are shown as friendly.
You found me. ...Why? You're already too late. Not much of the world remains. This will be apparent once you go outside. This place was never worth saving. ...Do you still want to try? Then, remember this: Your actions here will affect Niko. Your "Mission" is to help Niko leave. And most importantly...You only have one shot, {player}.

NOTE: The actor for Silver will also play Kip
Silver is the head engineer of the Barrens robot team, and one of the main supporting characters in OneShot. She is a tall robot with a thin build, red hair and a purple robe.
Silver is an important character in Niko's journey, as she provides them with information on how to get out of the Barrens, as well as giving them the amber necklace required to activate the Tower. However, she does not show enthusiasm about the Sun, as she believes that restoring the sun to the tower will not save the world from its decay and destruction.
According to Kip, Silver was an effort to make a Tamed robot using the former as the template for her design. However, due to complications and contradictions in the code, Silver became unstable and went rogue (assumed to mean disobeying the three laws of robotics). This lead to an incident which made her damage something (or hurt someone) severely. Due to this, after the Author managed to stabilize her, she was transferred to the Barrens to replace the head engineer there. News of the incident managed to reach far as a note from one of the previous workers in the Barrens complains about Silver being the replacement of their head engineer. Kip laments that Silver probably eventually became aware of her abandonment and therefore stopped responding to any attempt of keeping contact. Since then she has stayed in the lookout point in the Barrens.
Silver: The lightbulb...So, are you the "messiah"? I expected someone...taller. Or at least someone that doesn't look like a kitten. That's what you are, right? Some sort of cat? Well, either way...A child like you being the messiah...just doesn't feel right.
Kip: *sigh* It was supposed to be such a breakthrough, y'know? I even based her on myself so I'll KNOW it works! We wanted to build a robot that acts like a person, thinks like a person...a robot that isn't bound by its own code. But turns out, you can't really BUILD something like that. Too many contradictions in the code...made her unstable.

Prototype (or Proto as often called) is a robot able to be met in the Solstice update. He was built by the Author before the Old World ended. His purpose was to predict the specifics of the messiah for the old world.
I...I...recognize the light in your eyes...You are the person I am destined to meet. ...What is your name?
I am entrusting you with my main memory disk. You have passed my first test by showing me that book. Now, you will need to find a way to install the backup.

Rue is a cryptic, but significant NPC (and in the Equinox Update, a temporarily playable character) located in a room in the back alley of Refuge, to the right of the Lamplighter's house. She also features in one of the three visions Niko can encounter during their travels.
She is found in a strange, small area in the maze-like Alley. There is a large tree here that appears to be be shone on by sunbeams. Though these could be city lights trickling down from above, the tree itself seems out of place given it should be in much poorer condition without the Sun.
Rue, similar to Niko, is kindhearted and caring, talking to Niko in a friendly manner even though they usually don't remember her. After the Equinox Update, she is also shown to be obedient and loyal as she followed the Author's written advice despite such likely causing her loneliness.
I'm sorry if you are looking for me. But I cannot talk to you. Not now...But...can you promise me something? It...you can find a way to return...please do.
Ah...Niko isn't here yet...Hm...Maybe it's best that I go inside for now. Wait...this is! The floor...the walls...everything...they're still...none of it is...generated...I hope everything's okay...

Cedric is The Author's son. He helps Niko go from the Glen to the Refuge with the flying machine. He has white hair, a black hat with a feather on the left side, a pair of goggles with green lenses over his eyes and a smaller pair wrapped around his hat.
It's you! You...um...N-nice finally to meet you! ...no wait. It is a pleasurfe to be of acquaintance at last, Niko. My name is Cedric.
Prototype had contacted me earlier, saying that you would be on your way to the city. He sent me a message after his memories were restored.

Alula is one of the two main children residing in the Ruins, the other being her older brother, Calamus. She wears blue clothes that resemble a bird, with what appears to be blue feathers on her hands.
Alula is a cheerful young girl, often being very calm and positive in most situations as well as making many jokes. Contrasting to her brother's timid and concerned nature.
Yay! Calamus keeps saying how this world is getting more dangerous by the minute. But that's ok! You're here now! You can make everything better!
Hey! I saw you going to the courtyard! So we thought I'd tag along! So this is the courtyard. It's got water...and...stuff...

Calamus is one of the two children residing in the ruins, the other being his younger sister, Alula. He wears red clothes with what appear to be red feathers on his hands and clothing resembling a bird's face on his head.
Oh, you must be talking about Maize. She's a powerful plant spirit. She used to protect the Glen. ...but once the sun died, her health rapidly deteriorated. I'm glad you were able to find her in time.
Alula? Alula? Where did you go? *To Neko* Hey! You there! Have you seen a little girl? She's a little bit shorter than you, and-Wait...! That's...the sun. Are you our savior? Oh my stars! Sorry for my rudeness! My little sister... she's been gone for three days now. I've been looking all over, but...

The Lamplighter (or Plight as referenced by file names) is the maintenance worker of Refuge. He's mainly tasked to replace the red phosphor found in Refuge's lights. He is the second character (next to the Red Guardian) that Niko and the Player meet in Refuge.
His small apartment can be found in the Alley. In his apartment, Niko can find the lenses for the photo booth in a cardboard box.
Come oonnn... Come oonnnnnnn! I'm too busy for this! *notices Neko* Woah! ...you're....you! (Ah geez, I didn't think I was gonna run into...this is embarrassing...) er.... Is there, uh, anything I can help you with?
...yeeahh...I was afraid you were gonna say that... Right now, this elevator is the only way to access the surface. But...yeah, just take a look at it. There's usually a big button here that says "GROUND" on it. Y'know, cuz it takes you to the ground area. But now it's been ripped out? Or something?

Maize is a powerful plant spirit who used to protect the Glen until the sun died, causing her health to deteriorate, according to Calamus. She went to the ruins and caused vines to block doorways and paths, but they disappear after Niko gives her the Sun.
Maize asks Niko to give her the Sun so she can feel it one last time. Upon doing so, some of the paths blocked by vines will no longer be blocked.
She leaves a kernel of corn and the Sun (turned off until Niko picks it up) behind after she dies.
During Solstice, she holds the land together with her vines. This causes her to lose strength. When Niko asks if she wants the Sun, she refuses, fearing that the vines might retreat, leaving the land to collapse. When Niko asks if she can repair the broken bridges, she uses the last of her strength to assist Niko on their quest.

George is the head librarian of the library in Refuge. She has six different personalities that you can possibly meet (correlating to the six faces of a die).
Oh, hello there! you must be the savior! And also, the cutest darn thing I have ever seen! Can I help you with anything, sweetie?
Oooh that's right, the Tower! I know there's a small room that you can go into, but...I'm afraid nobody knows how to get in beyond that! Not even silly ol' me, who spent her entire life reading books about the world...

Prophetbot is one of the first characters Niko meets on their journey. Their appearance consists of a light grey body wearing a long white robe. Their head is cubic - sporting a single, large camera for an eye, along with two red antennae, one on each side of their head.
At the start of the adventure, Niko speaks to Prophetbot, asking them numerous questions about the world, the lightbulb, and about their quest. Prophetbot explains that the world is decaying, and that Niko must return the sun to the tower to save the world.
Ah! That Lightbulb...! You Are Here! Yes! Welcome To Our World, Friend! I Am Most Humbled By Your Presence. Yes! Ah Right! Allow Me To Explain Some Things.
Oh! So You Woke Up In An Unfamiliar, Dark Location? Just As My Prophecy Foretold. Yes! You Are The Savior We Have Been Waiting For! You Will Be The One To Save Our World From Eternal Darkness.

Bookbot is a robot in charge of the Library's reception. They will prevent Niko from getting to George unless they have a library card.
THAT IS A QUESTION FOR THE HEAD LIBRARIAN, GEORGE. ALLOW ME TO CALL HER. *long awkward pause as the phone rings* SHE IS NOT PICKING UP.
SHE IS HERE. SHE IS IN THE ARCHIVAL ROOM UPSTAIRS. WHEN SHE IS CONCENTRATING ON HER WORK, SHE WILL IGNORE ANY AND ALL PHONECALLS....FOR SEVERAL DAYS.

Rowbot #310 is one of the multitude of robots that is attached to a boat, known as a Rowbots. Their primary purpose is to transport people across the ocean from the Barrens to the Glen and vice versa. They have a built-in navigation circuits which allows them to calculate the path and shortest route between the ports in the Barrens and the Glen. They also have the ability to trace materials from their source locations, which in turn activates their backup tracking system. This backup system is used when Niko presents the amber that Silver gave to them to the Rowbot. They are powered by the electromagnetic field of the generator in the Barrens.
I AM ROWBOT #301. WOULD YOU LIKE ME TO TAKE YOU SOMEWHERE? ... I CANNOT MOVE.
...I...CAN MOVE AGAIN. THANK YOU! I AM ABLE TO FULFILL MY PURPOSE AGAIN. WHERE WOULD YOU LIKE TO GO?

Ling is a person working at the cafe in Refuge. He gives Niko pancakes when they visit the cafe out of hunger.
Yeah, it's a really slow day... So I've been told it's because the ground access elevator is broken. The city's infrastructure has been suffering a lot lately. Skywalks and stairs breaking off left and right... Now the only reliable way of transport are those elevators...Until now, anyways...

Oh, Hello. What Are You Doing Here? A Living Person Such As Yourself Should Have Evacuated This Place Long Ago. Oh, The Messiah. I...Do Not Know What To Say. Greeting You Was Not Part Of My Programming.

Chorus Members are the most important part of the project! They will be doing much singing along with voicing the various unnamed NPCs in the game.
NOTE: If you audition for any of the other roles, you will automatically be considered for chorus. Several people will also be cast for chorus, so I will be private message you if you have been cast.

The musical will feature numerous original works of art, or recreations of the art in the game. I am personally terrible at art and could really use some people who are willing to create art for the project. Several people will be chosen as artists.
NOTE: You will be credited in the description of every video that your art work is used in.
