So, the title says it all, folks. Official Mimic Productions is doing a dub of the Manga and a fandub of the Anime of 'The Rising Of The Shield Hero'. First on the order of business is the manga. We're doing that to build up a following around the series and our team while the anime finishes out the season.
Right now, we’re looking for fresh talent to join us on this and other potential future projects. Currently, all roles are open and we're accepting all auditions.
While we might be new, we are looking for dedicated voice actors who are ready to get down to work but also can roll with the punches. Our scheduling will be a bit flexible at first, but once the ball really gets rolling we will have a solidified schedule to work off of.
Despite us being new at producing content as a team, we are each, individually, professionals, and as such we are looking for good work ethics, positive attitudes, and people who put their best foot forward.
If this seems like the kind of thing you can get on with, then it sounds like we're going to work well together! If not, don't worry because we will be posting future projects as they are needed.
Also, please feel free to audition for as many roles as you want and just know that more characters will be cast later for the same project as the series progresses!
As for our previous works, most of our members of staff have or are currently working with other fandub production teams, so we're right there with ya!

So, after long debates and a few sleepless nights, we've decided on our initial casting! If you saw a few updates in your notifications, that's our bad. CCC decided to stroke out and uncast everyone but like 3 people, so we apologize for any confusion.
If you didn't get cast, don't be upset because we will be hosting more rounds of auditions at later dates as more mainstay characters as they appear!
Voice Actor
Naofumi Iwatani- The Hero of The Shield and owner of Raphtalia, Firo/Filo, and a lot of other slaves as the series progresses. He used to be a starry-eyed hopeful but after a series of betrayals, he has become angry, bitter, and self-assured in the fact the world does not deserve to be saved but, despite this, he will do his job as a hero in order to go home...So long as he gets some well-deserved vengeance along the way. Naofumi is 20 years old (in the anime and manga), rather dour, with bouts of intense anger, and occasionally makes dry/witty remarks. Proper comedic timing, vocal, and emotional control are needed.
We're looking for someone who can really sell cold, angry, and bitter but still has a spark of kindness and excitement when things break through that outer protective shell. There will be some intense yelling/screaming throughout the series, so be prepared to really get your shout on!
(Absolutely Furious, Out For Blood) "PRINCESS BITCH!" "KILL HER! PUT HER TO DEATH!" SHE NEEDS TO DIE FOR HER CRIMES!!

Raphtalia is a Raccoon Demi-Human slave to Naofumi. She is quite loyal and slowly develops a crush on him, though in the manga she is rather slow to admit it. She is quite willful and is not afraid to speak her mind. However, she does get embarrassed rather easily and still has some childish tendencies even as she levels up/matures. You will need to be able to sound like a kid for earlier episodes and flashbacks as well as a sound like a young adult (18-20).
Raphtalia is Naofumi's emotional foil and, as such, will have plenty of impactful lines and emotionally charged scenes. A wide emotional range will be required for this role!

(Shocked, Surprised, Embarrassed, Confused) [Adult Raphtalia] N-Naofumi-Sama!? W-What do you mean by this!?
(Upset, Angry, Protective, Aggressively Defensive) [Adult Raphtalia] "You say all these awful things about Naofumi-Sama but they aren't true. He fed me whatever I wanted. He played with me. He gave me my sword. He only ever used the curse seal on me when I misbehaved...He gave me my purpose and taught me how to fight."
(Panicking, Scared, Cowering) [Kid Raphtalia] "I...I'm scared! I...I can't do this...Please don't make me do this!"
Voice Actor
Firo/The Holy Bird-Naofumi's pet Filo Rial, a race of monster birds not unlike Chocobos from Final Fantasy. She can transform between her bird and human forms. She is very much a kid and a hyper carefree one at that. Often draws out her words. Ex: "O~kay!" "Ye~s!" "Nooo~" Around 12-15 years old. Has moments of pristine clarity where she can talk perfectly, like an adult but most of the time is very childish. Has a habit of speaking about herself in the 3rd person. In the anime, she is much more talkative and doesn't speak with as much of a sing-song voice, though it is still there on occasion. She is much more clear and concise in her speech, however, she still tends to speak in the 3rd person.
We're going to need someone who is bubbly, personable, and is okay with saying some rather awkward things. While things remain pg-13 for the most part, Firo's lack of general conversation etiquette often results in mishaps and misunderstandings.
(Whine, Pestering) "Ma~ster! Firo is hungry! Feed Firo now, Please~!"
(Upset, Mad, A Real Mood) "Firo does not like spear person! He is mean to poor Fir~o! Firo will kick him every time Firo sees him for Master!~"

Malty/Mein- Princess and Daughter of The King of Melromarc (Known to Naofumi as Bitch/Whore). She's a manipulative piece of garbage human being who will use any and all means to get whatever she wants. She vehemently hates the shield hero and will stop at nothing to make his life and the lives of those who aid him miserable. She is one of the main antagonists of the series. She is somewhere in the range of 22-27 years old. Sweet sounding but can flip to being a cold hateful bitch at the drop of a hat.
You must be comfortable voice a manipulative and morally corrupt character. Her lines are often filled with in-universe racism, derogatory remarks, and hateful comments. She is able to flip this kind of behavior off and on as she needs but the mask often breaks under pressure. She is a rather difficult role to voice and will require some intense emotional/vocal control.
(Racist, Hateful, Haughty, Entitled) "How dare you speak to Motoyasu-Sama in such a way, you Demi-Human Bitch!?"
(Cocky, Side-eyed, Smug) "It is such a shame that you'll have to go back to fighting alone, huh, shield hero?"
(Fawning, Flattering, Flirty, Cutesy) "Oh, Motoyasu-Sama! You're so strong and handsome!"

Aultcray Melromarc XXXII- King of Melromarc, father of Malty and Melty (Known to Naofumi as Trash King/Scum). A rather proud and dominating man, the king has an iron grip on the nobility due to previous deeds and past heroics. He has since degraded into a hateful garbage can of a human being. 40-60's and very commanding voice with a hard condescending edge.
Aultcray has a rather powerful voice, full of pride and noble entitlement. However, this does not mean he has no emotional depth. Later on in the series, he expresses a much wider range of emotions include regret, sorrow, anger, relief, and actual genuine happiness. Must be able to portray these emotions while maintaining your noble dignity and pomp.
Becomes a rather important part of the story as the series progresses, so there is potential for much more work later on.
"You vile, evil villainous devil shield! I knew you would betray us in the end! See!? Didn't I tell you!? He is evil!" (Triumphant, Expectant, Defiant)
"Hmmm...Shield hero, I overheard your exchange with Motoyasu-dono. A hero using a Demi-Human slave as a party member is rather unbecoming. It just goes to prove your villainous nature. Elhart/Old Man- The blacksmith/merchant that Naofumi comes to count as his closest confidant outside of Raphtalia. He sold him his armor in the very beginning and has since then become his largest supplier of arms and armaments. He is in his 30-40's, is very strong, powerful, kind, honest, and a big booming voice/laugh. Very friendly but with a decent emotional range. May have some form of gravelly voice (and DEFINITELY be able to sound like a douting dad/father figure).
(Solemn, Disgusted, Angry, Stoic) "Hey, lad...I heard what you did to that woman...I'm going to punch you in the face.
(Happy, Friendly, Doting, Fatherly) "Well hello there, laddie! It's been a while since you paid me a visit. What can I do for you and the young miss, hmm?"
(Amazed, Impressed, Fatherly, Doting) "Is that the young miss!? My my, how you've grown into such a fine woman. You must have been training hard, huh? chuckle"

Motoyasu Kitamura- The Hero of The Spear and partner to Malty. A horny flirtatious womanizer who is one neck beard away from being a Fedora Tipping White Knight. Mid 20's, lots of false charm, very into himself, even more into women, uncomfortably overconfident to the point of obliviousness, and constantly up Naofumi's ass about something whenever they meet. He has a strange obsession with Firo/Filo.
He is very much a dude-bro/chad and, as such, he needs to come off as brash, overconfident, and rather holier-than-thou. Lots of heroic shouting required.
(Pissed, Accusing, Self Righteous) "Like anyone is going to believe anything you say, you damn RAPIST!!"
(Cocky, Smug, Insulting, Prick) "Ha! You think that thing can beat my dragon? That dumb, stupid, fat bird!? As if!!"

Ren Amaki- The Hero of The Sword. A Loner who used to run a guild in a video game. Generally aloof but a decent person at heart. While he can (and is) quite distant and critical of people, when his mistakes or his shortcomings are brought to light, he immediately tries to fix them and is very apologetic. Late teens, very cold and distant. Not much emotion outside of dry sass and downcast, though he can and is quite reasonable later on.
Definite room for growth as the series progresses!

(Upset, Disbelief, Beating Yourself Up) "Plague!? B-but...But I...I never..."

Itsuki Kawasumi-The Hero of The Bow. Obsessed with Justice and being the hero of his story. He's the second youngest of the group (followed by Ren). Idealistic, naïve, judgmental, and overly critical of the faults of others that fall outside his purviews of 'justice', Itsuki sounds very much like your average hero of justice. Think My Hero Academia levels of 'Hero of Justice' when he's making big important speeches about justice and morality.

Queen Melromarc- A kind, if a somewhat vengeful woman who lends her aid to Naofumi as the series progresses. Tries to hitch Naofumi and Melty. 30's, is somewhat sexy sounding, cold, calm and collected, but can be rather vindictive when angered.
The Queen becomes a rather important figure as the series progresses and has some rather emotionally impactful parts. As such, a wide arrange of emotions and control is required.
(Worried, Focused, Stressed) “News of Melromarc’s summoning of the Four Cardinal Heroes is making waves here as well. We must prevent our neighbors from meddling, no matter what.”
(Wry, Ulterior Motive, Coy, Forward) "If Naofumi-dono would so desire, I can send Melty to assist him in his endeavors as lord of the land."
(Furious, Domineering, Downputting) "You've overstepped your authority, husband! I tasked you with assisting all the heroes, NOT ostracizing and demonizing Naofumi-dono because of your pretty grievances!! Useless trash!"

Slave Trader-A bouncy, properly spoken man with a vocal tic of always finishing his sentences with yes or Mmhmm. He goes where the profit is and is very interested in Naofumi. He sells Naofumi all of his slaves and monsters, including Raphtalia and Firo. Fronts his slave trade with monster auctions and arena gambling. Smooth, villain-esque, somewhat mousey, and very light-hearted. Must be able to sound slimy and greedy/evil but ultimately harmless as the series progresses. 30-40's??
Just have fun with these lines. The character very much enjoys life and everything that he does, even when he is nervous or at a loss.

Melty Malromarc- The youngest daughter of The King and Queen of Malromarc. She is loud, brash, and dislikes Naofumi at first. She comes off as a Tora Dora style tsundere. She is a feisty young lady who disregards what her mother tells her to do on occasion but is very dutiful despite these little acts of rebellion. Best friends with Firo (maybe more?) and eventually manager of Naofumi's estate. She is not always properly spoken unless facing a diplomatic situation. around 12, childish with a decent temper and mood flips, kind of like her mother. Emotional control required.
As the series progresses, Melty becomes a supporting character with much more talk/screen time!

(Excited, Nerding out, Gushing) "Fire-chan is SO adorable and warm! I could just fall asleep hugging you!"
