First off, I feel like the voice you're using is a bit gruff and malevolent. He's not a villain, but more of an anti-hero. A pragmatic greedy merchant with a chip on his shoulder who wants to leave behind a better world for his friends but generally just dislikes everyone who has ever wronged him and doesn't trust the rest of them. I like the intensity and the maniacal laughter, but I don't know if it is a fit for Naofumi. However, I would look at doing an audition for Motoyasu or Aultcray (if you can sound 40-60's). Also, as interesting as it would be, I think you should also audition for Elhart! The gruff sound in your voice would fit him rather well!

Naofumi Iwatani- The Hero of The Shield and owner of Raphtalia, Firo/Filo, and a lot of other slaves as the series progresses. He used to be a starry-eyed hopeful but after a series of betrayals, he has become angry, bitter, and self-assured in the fact the world does not deserve to be saved but, despite this, he will do his job as a hero in order to go home...So long as he gets some well-deserved vengeance along the way. Naofumi is 20 years old (in the anime and manga), rather dour, with bouts of intense anger, and occasionally makes dry/witty remarks. Proper comedic timing, vocal, and emotional control are needed.


We're looking for someone who can really sell cold, angry, and bitter but still has a spark of kindness and excitement when things break through that outer protective shell. There will be some intense yelling/screaming throughout the series, so be prepared to really get your shout on!
