Life is Strange: The Blue Butterfly Dub
Project Overview
What is this?
This is going to be a fanmade dub of the popular video game, Life is Strange. If this does well, we'll do Before the Storm. We will be doing our best to capture the spirit and feel of the game while improving on some of the voice-acting.
For those of you unfamiliar with the premise: The first Life is Strange game focuses on Max Caulfield, who returns to her hometown of Arcadia Bay, Oregon. There she witnesses childhood friend Chloe Price being shot in the school bathroom. The incident triggers Max to suddenly have the ability to rewind time, thus allowing her to save Chloe from the gunman. As the two friends begin to reconnect, Max has visions of a violent storm approaching Arcadia Bay and uses her newfound powers to help Chloe track down her missing friend Rachel Amber.
This call will be covering all the major characters I know of in the game. We'll be doing a second to cover minor characters.
Requirements:
1. Please make sure your microphone is capable of recording your voice without picking up overwhelming background noises or excessive peaking/clipping.
2. You must have a Discord account, as the project will be going into production over there.
3. Your voice files must be sent in a .wav format, though if it ends up too big, .mp3 files will do as an alternative.
4. You need to have a very clear idea of both the series and the character you're auditioning for.
5. Remember to have fun!
Thank you all so much for reading and I can't wait to hear all of your auditions!

Max Caulfield is the playable protagonist. She is an 18-year-old aspiring photographer and senior at Blackwell Academy. She left her mom and dad in Seattle for the seaside town of Arcadia Bay, Oregon, where she grew up. After saving her childhood friend Chloe Price from being killed by Nathan Prescott in one of Blackwell Academy's bathrooms, she discovers she can rewind time and even stop it in its tracks. On the search for clues to solve the mysterious disappearance of Rachel Amber, Max must also discover how to use her powers to save the town of Arcadia Bay from a tornado. Max is geeky, quite introverted, and slightly self-conscious, particularly when it comes to her photography. She's a clear, deductive thinker, smart and sneaky, while also practical, reasonable and mature, in some aspects, for her age. She is also brave, placing herself in harm's way to protect those she cares about.
[looking at her photo, Trying to boost her confidence]
Just relax. Stop torturing yourself. You have "a gift". (Pauses, then tears the photo) Fuck it.
[Seeing Victoria covered in paint after altering time to make it so, Satisfied]
It worked! Don't mess with Max, bitches.
[Watchjng the Tornado, Horrified]
This is my storm. I caused this... I caused all of this. I changed fate and destiny so much that... I actually did alter the course of everything. And all I really created was just death and destruction!
Chloe Price was Max Caulfield's best friend before she moved to Seattle, leaving Chloe in their hometown of Arcadia Bay, Oregon. They rekindle their friendship during the events of the game. After Max left, Chloe became best friends with Rachel Amber before Rachel went missing. She is the daughter of William and Joyce Price and the step-daughter of David Madsen. Chloe’s death may be the catalyst to unlocking Max's powers and their emotional journey together is the main thrust of the story right through to its conclusion. Chloe is a stubborn, mischievous, and rebellious young woman. She is the archetypal punk-rocker, expressed in both her music taste and style. She loves to get high, drink beer, and can be described as bold and outgoing. She has a big mouth often making snarky comments, acts fearless, and loves to take risks, which often gets her in trouble. She can be prone to angry outbursts and has serious issues with abandonment and trust after her father's death, Max's move to Seattle, and the disappearance of Rachel Amber. Due to all her bad experiences over the years, she has become pessimistic and resentful of life, convinced that there wasn't anyone who actually cared about her or who she could trust in.
[Being told she can't steal the comfy chair, Slightly amazed, then Confused]
Max, do your powers include mind-reading? Or did you just rewind because I tried to steal the chair? Shit, I'm confused.
[Looking over Arcadia Bay, Angry]
This shit-pit has taken everyone I've ever loved... I'd like to drop a bomb on Arcadia Bay and turn it to fucking glass...
[Asking Max to sacrifice her to save the town, Emotional]
Max, you finally came back to me this week, and... you did nothing but show me your love and friendship. You made me smile and laugh, like I haven't done in years. Wherever I end up after this... in whatever reality... all those moments between us were real, and they'll always be ours. No matter what you choose, I know you'll make the right decision.
Nathan Prescott is a student at Blackwell Academy. He is associated with selling drugs at Blackwell, and it is consistently implied that he is mentally ill and is in therapy. Nathan is outwardly aggressive, spoiled, rich, and acts in the manner of an archetypal brat. He often uses his family's influence to escape any responsibility for his actions, believing himself to be above the law. He appears to lack empathy for others and shows no regard for the suffering of those he deems a threat to his authority.
[Trying to calm himself, Breathing heavily]
It's cool, Nathan... Don't stress... You're okay, bro. Just count to three... Don't be scared... You own this school... If I wanted, I could blow it up... You're the boss...
[Trying to get Max & Chloe out of the truck, Angry]
Get your punk asses out of there now! Don't even try to run! Nobody messes with me! NOBODY!
[Sending Max a voicemail, Apologetic]
Max... it's Nathan. I just wanted to say... I'm sorry. I didn't want to hurt Kate, or Rachel, or... I didn't want to hurt anybody. Everybody... used me! Mr. Jefferson is coming for me now. All this shit will be over soon. Watch out, Max... He wants to hurt you next. Sorry.
Victoria Chase is a student at Blackwell Academy. She is best friends with Nathan Prescott, Taylor Christensen, and Courtney Wagner. Rich and arrogant, Victoria is a typical snob who boasts about her expensive designer clothing and state-of-the-art electronic equipment for her classes. Max frequently feels jealous regarding her possessions. Victoria gossips and seems like the stereotypical bitchy queen-bee figure at Blackwell. She picks on Max and other students and is known to be quite dramatic. Contrary to the initial impression, Victoria has a vulnerable side. She overcompensates despite her talent and supposed confidence.
[Talking with Mr. Jefferson, Sucking Up]
I know, Mr. Jefferson. I just worked so hard on this shot, and I'm sure you know what it's like to be consumed by your work. I just really think "Everyday Heroes" is an important cultural event and I want to represent Blackwell Academy.
[Making fun of Max, Mocking and Rude]
Oh, look, it's Max Caulfield, the selfie ho of Blackwell. What a lame gimmick. Even Mark—Mr. Jefferson—falls for your waif hipster bullshit. "The Daguerreian Process, sir!" You could barely even say that. I guess you got your meds filled. Since you know all the answers, I guess you have to find another way into the dorm. We ain't moving. Oh, wait, hold that pose! (She takes a photo of Max with her phone) So original. Don't worry, Max, I'll put a vintage filter on it right before I post it all over social media. Now, why don't you go fuck your selfie?
[Confiding in Max]
Max, I don't hate you... I actually think you're one of the coolest people at Blackwell... Weird, but cool. You just don't know it yet. Maybe I'm jealous because you don't give a shit what anybody thinks. And I do.
Warren Graham is a student at Blackwell Academy. He is good friends with Max and has a crush on her. Warren is a stereotypical science nerd who "knows how to be invisible" and loves old and obscure movies and anime. He has a kind and sensitive nature and is highly interested in Max. He always tries to get closer to her but, depending on Max's reactions to his offers and advances, he may end up having to deal with rejection constantly. He's also very shy and insecure with girls and struggles to express and deal with his feelings, so he tries to hide that underneath humor and bad jokes. He is a good friend, as he's always friendly and protective over Max. Although normally he's the one who would get beaten up.
[Joking after Max said she needed to talk]
Dr. Warren Graham is in da house. I won't even prescribe you any meds... Tell me everything.
[Seeing Max save Kate, Amazed]
Max, that was the greatest thing I've ever seen! Ever! You reached out, she reached out...hugs, tears, applause! Like a superhero!
[Being there for Max, Encouraging]
I do know you're here for a reason... and I guess it's up to you to find out why. Max... I'm sorry you got stuck in this... in this... I don't have a fucking clue what's going on. But I have total faith that you'll do the right thing when the time comes. I'm so proud of you, Max. How could there be a more important moment in history? And I'm in the middle of it with you? So thank you for trusting me.
Kate Marsh is a student at Blackwell Academy and a devout Christian. She has been having trouble coping with the release of a viral video featuring her kissing strangers at a Vortex Club party and seems emotionally traumatized. Max Caulfield is seemingly good friends with Kate and watches out for her during this rough time. Kate is a friendly, kind-hearted, shy teenager who doesn't like being the center of attention. She comes from a heavily religious household and is consequently bullied at Blackwell Academy for her conservative views on sex and religion. Due to her religious background, she is quite meek towards most (if not all) of the people who bully her and doesn't hesitate to give people such as Victoria Chase a second chance.
[Talking with Max, Trying to be Happy]
It sucks to be dragged into the spotlight.
[On the Roof about to jump, Emotional]
Max, I'm in a nightmare and I can't wake up...unless I put myself to sleep. Then everybody at Blackwell can post pics of my body; I'm already on the internet forever. No wonder they call it a "web"; nothing can ever get out. Like my video... I wish I could go back in time and erase everything...
[Being visited by Max in the hospital, Appreciative]
I'm so grateful to you for coming up to the roof to talk me down... Max, I felt so lost and alone... but when I saw how much you cared, how hard you were trying... you made me realize I wasn't alone. Thank you.
Mark Jefferson is a photography teacher at Blackwell Academy and the main antagonist. As a famous photographer and a widely recognized artist across America, he gained popularity during the '90s. Introduced as the cool and nice teacher who is greatly admired by his students, including Max, he is later revealed to be the true villain. Outwardly, Jefferson appears to be a charismatic and charming man, an active and passionate photographer and teacher. In reality, Jefferson is a cold, methodical, sadistic, and nihilistic individual, with an obscure obsession to capture the frame of "innocence" in others. He is obsessed with the idea of "capturing that moment innocence evolves into corruption", and is prepared to kill anyone who he deems a liability to him or his plans, stopping at nothing to achieve his objectives. He is willing to manipulate others to his advantage while making sure that they remain silent. Jefferson seems to have situations planned out well in advance, this combined with his high intelligence and extreme cunning has allowed him to continue what he is doing without being caught.
[Teaching his class, Casual]
Alfred Hitchcock famously called film, "little pieces of time" but he could be talking about photography, as he likely was. These pieces of time can frame us in our glory and our sorrow; from light to shadow; from color to chiaroscuro... Now, can you give me an example of a photographer who perfectly captured the human condition in black and white? Anybody? Bueller?
[Boosting Max's confidence to submit a photo for the contest, Encouraging]
Now I know it's a drag to hear some old dude lecture you... but life won't wait for you to play catch-up. You're young, the world is yours, blah blah blah, right? But you do have a gift, you have the fever to take images, to frame the world only the way you envision it. Now, all you need is the courage to share your gift with others. That's what separates the artist, from the amateur.
[Taking pictures of Max, Menacing]
This angle highlights your purity, see? The slightly unconscious model is often the most open and honest. No vanity or posing just...pure expression.
Joyce is Chloe's mother and long-time resident of Arcadia Bay. She is the widow of William Price and is currently married to David Madsen. Joyce works at the local eatery, the Two Whales Diner. She is an excellent cook and a protective, loving mother towards Chloe. She still lives in the same house from Chloe's childhood. Joyce is a strong mother figure. She is a kind, hardworking and sassy woman, she takes no nonsense from both Chloe and the squabbling diner patrons she deals with daily. She is a loving, worried mother who wishes the best for her daughter.
[Talking with Max, Supportive]
You did the right thing. You moved forward with your life. I did, after William passed on. Chloe...Chloe chose to stay angry... Anyway, I hope we see more of you. Chloe needs an old friend again.
[Talking with Chloe, Stern]
Call him David if you don't want to be lectured. You only get one damn slice of bacon today.
[Regretting kicking out David, Emotional]
I know. And yes, he's not William, but that's okay. He's not supposed to be. You reminded me of when he came into my life... I was ready to give up. David's love gave me strength. He even told me I was his hero... And I can't give up loving him. I want him to come back home... I hope I get to tell him that soon.
David Madsen was a war veteran and is the security guard at Blackwell Academy. He is married to Joyce Madsen and is Chloe's stepfather. The way David behaves is often rude and aggressive. He also appears to suffer from PTSD and paranoia after his time in the military. He seems to have an unhealthy obsession with surveillance. However, he ultimately cares about the Blackwell students and his family but finds it difficult to show them due to his brusque attitude.
[Catching MAx in Chloe's room, Stern]
Well, well. I don't like strangers in my home. Especially dopers. So you're bringing drugs into my home. How about if I call the police? That would screw up your spotless Blackwell record... You do seem to get around..." Max". I'm sick of you losers dragging Chloe down.
[Being confronted by Chloe, Joyce, & Max, Angry]
I do not have to take this kind of interrogation. Not from you punks!
[Reflecting on his mistakes, Solemn]
I'm not gonna make any excuses for my behavior. I tried to be a good soldier, but...I wasn't so great. I tried to be a good father, too... But...when Joyce kicked me out...I had nothing.
