Project Overview

Heyo! Welcome to the first Casting Call for

Let Sleeping Dogs Lie


LSDL is an animated series that will be posted to youtube. It involves a broken down city infested by cats, and holds dark and brutal themes. It seems that something is holding these cats inside this city, but what is it? 

A dark colored cat by the name of Crow finds himself waking up here with no memory of the past, and is determined to figure out what's going on and why these cat's are staying in these conditions, and how to get back to home... Wherever home is. 


NOTE:

If the following make you uncomfortable or upset, please don't audition! this is just a warning since it will be included in the series

Rules and Requirements


  • Please have a clear mic!

  • Must have discord

  • Be able to show emotion well, unless the character itself doesn't show much emotion. You will need be able to scream and possibly cry.

  • Please don't just show up for a bit and leave the project. I need commitment. 

  • Have fun and treat others with respect of course!

  • I ask that you repeat each line at least once


Note: Character art isn't the finished product of animation! It was thrown together to get some voices ahead of time. There will also be more casting calls as new episodes arise. Thank you!

Before the first episode is posted an intro video will be released with narration!

  • Feathers dark as ink dance through the wind over the broken city, shattered windows and broken doors. it seemed even those who lived miles away could hear the screams for help echoing from the city whose once beautiful atmosphere was ravished and left with nothing but the feeling of dread. Fear and apprehension seeped into the hearts of those who dare to wander near, be it humans or animals. It was as if the ruins forbade all from entering- with the exception of all cats. They were drawn like flies to a corpse, and nobody could imagine why such a desolate, uninviting atmosphere could ever be considered hospitable by anyone, or anything.But surely the cats enjoyed it, for once inside they never left. Surely this ruined city held some unknown appeal to them. It was magnetizing, and practically inescapable for them.  But the cats inside were decrepit, scarred and battered, skittish, paranoid. It was like the city itself was slowly driving the animals insane. And in the dark hours of the night, some even reported pained, bloodcurdling howls from the city. The outskirts lined with the corpses of cats, their bodies lined with decay, and even the buzzards neglected to touch them. The air itself felt sick, as if something terrible was dwelling in the heart of the city, sucking the last pieces of good from every crack.
    Then, one day, a young cat, dark as the feathers in the city streets, found himself entering this desolate city. It's black, foreboding aura repulsed him- yet he had to go on. The ruins ahead called to him, dark but inviting, discomforting yet captivating

Crow is the main character. He's got a bit of a deep and monotone voice, but not too deep. He doesn't show a bunch of emotion in regular conversations, but you can clearly tell if he's angered. But he isn't much of someone to curse or freak out at others or start fights.

  • "Don't you DARE put a claw on her, Quincy." ( Angered )

  • "That poor cat...What the hell did he do to deserve that?" ( Shocked, a bit shaky )

Quincy is the first main antagonist. He is very sassy, harsh and sarcastic. He loves messing with others, and doesn't take much seriously. Over time, he starts to become weak, paranoid and crazy. Please feel free to give me extra examples of this and improvised lines!

In my head at times he reminds me of Heath Ledgers joker with his attitude and the way he talks, honestly.  


note: quincy is a closeted homosexual, and struggles with accepting this. With this, he is also a player and hides this by hanging with lots of females who look up to him. 

  • "Well aren't you just the most threatening thing I've seen?~" ( Teasing, amused. )

  • "Haha! You're HILARIOUS, Crowey! You're a fucking joke! You and that little play thing of yours!" ( A bit angry, laughing, smirking ) 

  • "W-w... What... N..No! No, that's not possible! Don't do this to me! You PROMISED!" ( Shaky voice, a bit crazy, weak )

Vasik is Quincy's second in command when it comes to the city. Though he never seems to side with quincy, nor show any villan qualities. he's a bit mysterious, and is usually a bit quiet and emotionless. He never lets anger control him.  His voice is a bit raspy and deep,

He is also the adoptive father of Orchid.

  • "So... Crow... That's your name, kid?" 

  • "No... Being Quincy's second in command wasn't my choice, but it's my responsibility to look after him." ( Calm, collected )

  • "That's what it's like, Kid. These cat's wander around the streets and follow his every word, doesn't matter if it's coming out his ass or not."

Bear is usually a very genuine and friendly cat, but he isn't afraid to speak his mind. He's one of the only cats in the city who doesn't seem to be brain washed and isn't afraid to speak up. He's got a bit of a higher toned voice. He spends most of his time caring for his grandparents, Darling and Grizz.

  • "It's YOUR fault! You half-faced RAT! I know you did it, I watched you leave them to BURN!" ( VERY upset, maybe crying a bit, angry )

  • "He doesn't know anything, but everyone listens to him anyways. Maybe it's because they're scared of him, or maybe they're just actually that stupid and desperate for someone to look up to."

  • "Yeah, I love my Grandparents. If it wasn't for them, I wouldn't be as well off as I am nor as smart as I am." ( gentle )

BIG NOTE: She has a large underbite and carries a lisp! Please have this in mind when auditioning! She also is a bit talented when it comes to singing.

Orchid is a supporting role. She is a small and chubby cat with an underbite and slightly flopped ears. She has anxiety and is fairly insecure and bad when it comes to conversations. She loves venturing in the forest near the city and picking flowers there, stuffing them into her hankerchief while she hums songs. She's fairly innocent.


She is also the adoptive daughter of Vasik

  • "O-Oh, I-I'm so s-sorry! I didn't m-mean to distract y-you!" ( sympathetic, nervous )

  • "P-Please stop! Please! I-I'm sick of seeing the bloodshed!" ( Upset, shaking, almost crying )
