Project Overview
June Mitsuki lived life as a commoner, with a mercenary mother and heroic brother. Having to live the mercenary life, June never got to settle in as a normal kid with a normal life; that was until she met three nobles - Layla von Alexandria, Xane von Rigel, and Sigurd Aegis. The trio helped save her home village, and in return, they offered her a life at the academy they attended. Seeing it as a way to have a normal life, June accepts and is tossed into a journey she'll never forget again.

DESCRIPTION: June is the protagonist of the series. She can be quite naive as she never got to form relationships with others around her age besides her brother, but that doesn't mean she's stupid. She's able to hold her own in battle after honing her skills for years on the battlefield. But, what use do her skills serve her after she's accepted into Onyx Academy?
(Beaten and weak) "How...could you? We were friends!"
(Power returned) "It all ends here!"
(Calm and confused) "I was dreaming about a war again. This time, it felt more realistic."
DESCRIPTION: Ash is Juneβs brother and a side character that appears throughout the series. While not appearing as your everyday run-of-the-mill hero, he's true to the word hero and dreams of becoming one everyone can look up to. However, he knows too much about the land and its many secrets to become the true, honest hero he aspires to be.
"June, don't trust those three. They could be mercenaries looking to kill one of us."
"Okay, how is it that every time I try to fix our problems, they don't go to plan? Seriously, is that too much to ask for?"
"I don't trust you guys, but if June's going with you, I shall follow to keep her safe. I can't afford to lose her too."
DESCRIPTION: Octavia was once a noble of the kingdom, but lost her status as a noble after her noble house was executed during the War of Flames. Her mother took her into hiding, finding sanctuary in a church outside of the kingdom territory. Octavia was raised in the church and by the church's teachings, now finding herself praying for the return of peace and her noble family, wishing for the war and turmoil to cease to exist.
(Worried) "Oh my. Not another war. I can't take seeing so many suffer because of people and their selfish ways."
(Cheerful) "Hello there June. Would you care to join me in baking? It's relaxing and what's better is you're able to eat what you make. It's a win-win situation!"
(Surprised) "Oh, Xane! I never expected to see you here. Did you come to pray to the Goddess too?"
DESCRIPTION: Rain is the son of the Avalhelm noble house and the future lord of the territory. While he might not be one much for words, he is unmatched in battle, honing his sword skills day by day, hoping to one day be able to take on the strongest foes the world has to throw at him. This is not fully realized until he meets June, who is able to go on par against him in combat. He sees her as the perfect training partner and hopes to one day surpass her in skill.
(Confident) "They say you're good with a sword. However, I don't believe in word-of-mouth like many of these fools here. Show me what you can do."
(Fatally wounded) "I'm fine, don't worry about me. Just make sure you take care of yourself. I couldn't afford to lose my new training partner like this."
(Amused) "I knew you were still alive. After we finish up here, I expect a much-needed training session with you. I need to see if you've gotten rusty over these past few years."
DESCRIPTION: Luca is one of the many nobles at Onyx Academy. While he might not appear...or act very noble, this doesn't mean he wants to be a commoner. While he finds noble responsibilities to be quite tedious, he isn't afraid to take charge if it's expected of him, even if he wishes he didn't have to be a lord one day, serving under the next king or queen.
(Annoyed) "By Gods, why do I have to be here? I think it would've been perfectly fine if I could've stayed in my dorm while the mock battle went on."
(Aggravated) "What do you want? Oh, it's you, the new girl. What could you need me for?"
(Scared) "Gah!" (Takes a few deep breaths) "You're still alive?! How the heck did you manage that? I swear you must have the Devil's own luck if you survived this long."
DESCRIPTION: Layla is the princess of Alexandria and the future Empress. After running into June and her mother due to some chain of events, she grows fond of the mercenary and her daughter, wanting to know more about June and her past. Though she might seem friendly and trusting, she's far from it, often analyzing everyone around her, trying to see everyone's true intentions.
(Trying to regain breath) "Excuse me, but are you a mercenary?"
(Sly and amused) "I'll tell you all you need to know" (pauses) "but first we should take care of these guys."
(Intrigued) "So, you're also a mercenary. Your skills would be very much appreciated in the empire. We could use a capable fighter much like yourself when tragedy breaks loose."
DESCRIPTION: Vivian is the current Empress of Alexandria and Layla's mother. When Layla was an infant, Vivian had tests done on her to see what kind of power she possessed and would try to make sure her daughter had a good life. While her intentions might've been questionable at the time, she was trying to see if Layla would live and truly cared for her future.
(Formal) "I am Vivian von Alexandria, the current Empress of Alexandria. Please state your business with me."
(Guilty) "Layla, I never meant to hurt you. All I ever wanted was for you to be safe."
(Proud) "My daughter...I am glad to see this day. From this day forward you shall be the Empress of Alexandria. As Empress, I will serve you the best I can, milady."
DESCRIPTION: Persephone is June and Ashβs mother. She lives life as a mercenary, which causes her and her kids to live life on the move. However, she wasn't always a mercenary. Many years prior to June and Ash's birth, she worked as a knight in service to the kingdom before she worked for Onyx Academy and Monastery. A week after June's birth, she left Onyx and began life as a mercenary.
(Concerned) "June, are you alright?!"
(Sorrowful) "Look, we can talk about this more later. We've gotta set out in a few minutes. I've managed to find another job to do in the kingdom."
(Cautious and scornful) "I might be. Depends on who's asking."
DESCRIPTION: Xane von Rigel is the young prince of the Rigel House and the future King of Arcadia. While prideful, he knows when his confidence is needed and often seeks compromise over violence. He, Sigurd, and Layla ran into June the day her home village was ambushed and offered for June to attend Onyx Academy.
(Introduction) "I am Xane von Rigel, Prince of Arcadia and its future King. I believe if we were to have someone like you on our side, we could keep peace with the other nations."
(Uneased) "That...that wasn't me you had seen. In fact, the weapon you described..." (Drifts off into his thoughts) "Hm? Oh, it's nothing. Don't worry about me."
(Angered + Scared) "June! Please don't go with her! She's only going to use you for this war!" (Upset) "If you go with her, that'll make you the enemy, and neither of us wants that!"
