LACKADAISY CATS: THE WEBCOMIC!
Project Overview
FranceyVO's Introduction:
We ( more like me- ) are excited to announce a casting call for a comic dub of the popular webcomic "Lackadaisy Cats." Set in the lively Prohibition-era world, this engaging story follows a group of cats navigating the challenges of running a speakeasy. We are looking for talented voice actors to bring these dynamic characters to life!
"Lackadaisy" is a webcomic created by Tracy Butler that is set in the 1920s during the Prohibition era. The story centers around a group of anthropomorphic cats who run a speakeasy called Lackadaisy, navigating the challenges of crime, love, and rivalry in a vibrant and jazz-filled setting. The characters are richly developed and often find themselves in humorous or dramatic situations, reflecting the complexities of their world. The art style is distinctive and evocative of the time period, contributing to the comic's charm and appeal. Overall, "Lackadaisy" has garnered a dedicated following for its engaging storytelling and beautiful illustrations.

Rocky is, at the first glance, jaunty, humorous, happy-go-lucky, immature, reckless, buffoonish, grandiloquent and zany. He has a knack for joking and spontaneously laughing in the most inappropriate of moments, usually to the annoyance (and mild concern) of others. He is outwardly the polar opposite of his more reserved and humble cousin Calvin “Freckle” McMurray, though the two share a similar sense of complex resentment and pent-up emotions regarding their familial situation. Rocky often involves Freckle in the Lackadaisy's affairs, sometimes against the latter's will (though he still cares for him greatly). In the animated pilot, Rocky mostly speaks in verse, adding to his already outlandish presence.

Oh, no. I'm here to help you, Wick. You seem like a well-intentioned sort. Last night's white knight right? Haha. ...So I thought it'd only be right to warn you - You're wandering in deadly territory. Mitzi's a dangerous lady, Wick. I have it from a good source that she's a beartrap!
Are you sure? I have a lot of them. I've been waiting for a chance to use "begrumpled haggersnash" all day. ...Or I could just go offend him some more with my fashion sense.
I provide the ambiance. Baby-Face provides the muscle. Look at him digging his way to martyrdom, the little go-getter! Now, how about a little rhapsody in G minor for company?
Ivy is perky, confident, hotheaded, temperamental, romantic and often saucy to those who get the better of her, especially Viktor (though the two actually have a friendship of sorts) and Rocky. She is prone to rash outbursts and is moody: once she discovered Rocky was indirectly responsible for the pig farmers' attack on Lackadaisy, she furiously attacked him with her school notes, though moments later she joyfully agreed to help Rocky scour a field for hidden alcohol.
Even though she tends to be violent, she is also very sweet and affectionate towards her dear Freckle (for her, more preferably Calvin), freely expressing her infatuation with him and kissing him on the lips more than once. While Rocky's impudence and incautiousness are something of a thorn in her side, she nevertheless cares about him as a friend and became very concerned for him once he shared how his unfortunate childhood influenced his closeness to the McMurray home and how poorly he thinks of himself.

I'm not sure lookouts are supposed to make such a ruckus anyway. Why don't you come down here and grab a shovel?
Fine! If you're not going to help us work, you're going to have to double as the dirt rag.
Please, no. No, that's plenty.
Mitzi's personality appears to be rather jaded. Despite her willingness to engage in unethical acts to keep Lackadaisy afloat, such as stealing a check from Wick while intoxicated, she still possesses a conscience that prevents her from cashing the check while sober, due to feeling ashamed of her actions. Although, she has said to Zib that she intends to repay Wick.

And though scrutinized and scandalized and troubled in the end by depleted finances--" Hm. Familiar story. "--Miss Duncan leaves behind, moreover, a legacy of consummate artistry and bold innovation." Done in by a scarf. The comic end that makes the tragedy, doesn't it? Speaking of tragedy, we got an old supplier back. The funeral home. Still, it's not the same without you. And that feeling that all of this was ours. (sighs) Used to be we could drive a whole convoy of trucks in.
I know you did your best, honey, but we can't keep running ourselves ragged and into the red to bring a meager...
You know what? I'm glad you and your violin are back, honey. We could all use some music about now. I mean, besides J.J
Mordecai was shown as reserved and professional in nature with an likeness for cleanliness and order. He seems to have a dislike for touch which was shown when he avoided Ivy in the episode Ingenue and when requested to dance in the comic; he also became visibly uncomfortable when Gracie put his hand on Mordecai's shoulder in a friendly gesture. He worked to keep an intimidating persona as an triggerman albeit became awkward if it did not work as intended. Mordecai was shown as a perfectionist, wanting symmetry and having his Earl Gray tea a specific amount of time.

Of late, I've been tasked with tying up an unusually large quantity of loose ends. As you have no doubt ascertained, you're one of them. But, in your case and the others, I don't know why - what put you on my list. So I've complied some research. Court records, property records - There are possible answers here, but I need more direct insight. It's perhaps unwise, unorthodox... unprofessional to pry. But I don't know if I... know some things I thought I knew. Important things.
It's conveniently inert... ...and a pitiable mess, but no one will hear you. Also, the lagering caves are suitable for storage. With your leg injury, they'd be a veritable oubliette. That assumes a more prolonged process than would be expedient, however. If my colleagues reappear, they're liable to disrupt. They think I'm having fun. They wouldn't understand my need for--
Wick is elegant and well-mannered. He tends to appear as a mature man, even if he embodies some eccentric characteristics that sometimes make him unusual: such as his passion for rocks and collecting in general. Other businessmen like Edmund Church are not very close to Wick and treat him with a certain distrust. Wick is proud of his vast collection of objects and is willing to present them to other people to earn their friendship; like in "Retinue" where Wick sets out to present his weapons collection to Freckle after Mitzi introduces him for the first time.
Wick is especially hated by Rocky due to the fact that he sees him as a competitor for Mitzi's affections. Wick is often confused and disturbed by Rocky's threats, such as in "Balderdash". Despite his difficult relationship with Rocky, Wick is welcomed into the Lackadaisy crew.

Actually, I was thinking of running away, screaming. That was ruthless. ...And certainly didn't leave me in an advantageous negotiating position. Still, I'd hate to disrupt our audience like that.
Right, then - Are you ready to go?
Not if it's contingent on a business partnership. Your business would be bad for my business, Mitzi. I have a reputation to uphold... and not just because I'm vain. There are investors to please and... certain people who rely on me for their livelihood...
Zib is generally a tired, blunt man, saying what he means and not caring much about propriety. He is seen to have a fondness for cigarettes and alcohol, and a sharp temper, snapping at people who annoy him. However, it is clear that he has a passion for music and performing, still choosing to play at the Lackadaisy despite the lack of customers.
Often, he will make snide jokes at the other characters' expense, and seems not to be worried about offending those that are above him. Despite his passions, however, he is shown to be rather tired and, at times, lazy. He's a working-class man currently using crime to make ends meet.

I'd donate a nickel to the cause if I had two to rub together, but I'm in the same rickety, impoverished, old boat as you, friend. (at Mitzi) As it turns, crime never pays.
Yeah. Sure. What are you gonna do when he catches your little paws, Mitzi- You know, before eventually rolls around?
"Sable Stone and Quarry" - a blank check? Huh. Adding forgery and theft to your repertoire tonight, are we?
