Knights of Brickalot (Stop Motion Series)
Project Overview
The Knights of Brickalot is an ambitious LEGO stop-motion comedy series comprising 100 interconnected short-form episodes set in a chaotic medieval kingdom.
Each short is designed for release on YouTube Shorts, TikTok, Facebook and Instagram, with six episodes also compiled into a weekly long-form omnibus release. Upon launch (currently planned for Autumn), the series will run daily for approximately three months.
The story follows a dysfunctional kingdom as it struggles to survive dragons, raiders, bandits and its own spectacular incompetence. Across 100+ episodes, viewers follow a cast of recurring characters including a well-meaning but oblivious king, an absurdly strong knight who solves every problem by smashing through it, a dramatic hero desperate for glory, a sarcastic dragon with an ever-growing collection of stolen treasures, and a suspiciously ambitious commander whose plans for the throne become increasingly difficult to ignore. While each episode works as a standalone comedy sketch, the series also features ongoing character arcs, running gags and an escalating storyline that builds towards a major payoff.
Approximately 80% of the animation has already been completed, and the scripts are fully written and locked. The project has now entered the voice acting and post-production stage.
This is a hobby project and therefore unpaid; however, all voice actors will be credited in the description of the weekly omnibus releases, and I am happy to include links to personal websites, social media profiles or portfolios where requested.
Due to the fast-paced comedy and timing-sensitive nature of the series, I will ask actors to provide several takes of each line where possible. This gives flexibility during editing and helps ensure each joke lands as effectively as possible.
This short trailer gives you an idea of the flavour of this series: https://youtube.com/shorts/BG3ozy2feP4?si=tGqiI5dC-VFgLn-C
An example of my work, using voice actors from CCC is here - although much more serious (Charge of the Scots Greys at Waterloo!)

The King is a central figure to the story and is the ruler of Brickalot. He is often found consulting with his knights in the throne or war rooms, and seems to generally see the good in most people - and is constantly oblivious to Cedric's scheming. There will be approximately 60 lines for this role, and if there are a second-wave of episodes, he would certainly reappear.

(Explaining a procedure to a crowd) "So, the dragon appears, we immediately close the gate." *Gate closes, shutting him outside* "NOT THAT IMMEDIATELY!"
(Leading a training session) "Train like Toothsmoke himself is watching you!" (Pleased, oblivious to a dragon behing him) “Marvelous! Truly lifelike terror. You’ve all captured the spirit of fear perfectly.”
(Commanding, under attack from a dragon) "We must fortify the-" (roof caves in and the dragon's head appears) "...Ceiling... Fortify the Ceiling."
Toothsmoke is a main threat to Brickalot. He is dry, sarcastic, and generally treats the knights visiting his cave with mild interest, but becomes more of a threat as the series grows.
There is no specific view of how I'd like his voice to sound. Use of voice effects is allowed as long as these effects will remain consistent through the recordings.
Approximately 60 lines the initial run of episodes, and would be a repeat character if more episodes are then made.
(Counting) "One crown, two swords, seventeen forks, and… this peasant."
(Conversationally) “I collect rare teapots now... Found this teapot in a village. Lovely village. Past tense."
(Lazily) I think you’re my favourite Oxley...You talk less than the others. You may live… until I’m hungry.
Sir Cedric is an obvious traitor amongst the Knights. From getting himself declared commander of the kings guard... to then appointing peasants as guards, to being very generous to the local bandits... everything he does is questionable.
I envisage him as a voice that sounds like an evil mastermind - he's not subtle to the audience!
Around 70 lines. Likely to be a repeat character if further episodes are made.

"My liege! Make peasants into guards. It's cheaper, boosts morale, and they’re… enthusiastic."
(Muttering to self) “Step one: Distraction. Step two: Dragon eats everyone. Step three: Throne.”
“My rule—I mean leadership—will be firm but fair!”
One of the peasant guards, recruited by Sir Cedric, she actually is the only one who seems to have a clue what's going on, and see's through Cedric's scheming!
Around 30 lines. Likely to be a repeat character if further episodes are made.

(Whispering) "It's locked! We need the key!"
"Cedric's been whispering to the bandits again" (then when another character tries to suggest Cedric may be undercover) "He gave them the castle keys!"
(Low, shocked that the King has fallen for Cedric's lies again) "Seriously!?"
Sir Roary is one of the Knights of Brickalot. He has a lot of labrador energy, is loud and energetic. Treats the dragon Toothsmoke like a pet. Often seen with the dramatic Sir Boreas.
Around 25 lines. Likely to be a repeat character if more episodes are made.
(proudly, after being described as an appetizer by Toothsmoke) ": “Hey! We’re main course material!”
(Loud, calling out) "Toothsmoke!? Any tips for surviving your lair!"
(Being sent to fight toothsmoke the first time) "Ooh oooh! If he's good, can I keep him?"
Sir Boreas attempts to be dramatic about everything. Sees himself as a hero. Is frequently interupted and shown a lack of respect by the raiders.
Is usually paired with Sir Roary.
Around 40 lines. Likely to be a repeat character in any further episodes.

"Unhand her, sea raiders! For I, Boreas of—” (interupted, but tries to carry on) “—shall strike you down with righteous—” (interupted again) “Wait— I’m not finished!”
“Stand aside! I shall defend this village!”
(Being dramatic over rotating a map) "We go... clockwise!"
Sir Oxley is a giant of a knight and a man of few words. He is feared by his enemies and comically over-strong, carrying a balista as a side-arm. Frequently runs through walls.
Around 15 lines. Likely to be a repeat character if further episods are made.

"I AM the key!" (Shortly before crashing through wall).
(Jolly, after firing the a warning shot directly at the local village) "Village warned!"
(Proudly) "Found tunnel!"
Doug is a peasant. He's one of those recruited by Cedric as a guard. He often acts as something of a handyman for the castle. The logical overexplainer, Sir Corvin, is often put-down by Doug's overly simple yet correct desciptions of things.
Approx 30 lines. Likely to be a repeat character if further episodes are made.

(Calling upwards) “Stop winching, Oxley! The bridge is stuck again — I’ll fix it.”
(Looking at map) "What do all these wiggly lines mean?" (someone starts explaining) “Yeah I stopped listening.”
"Maybe he's undercover?" (Further explanation given by other character) "Deep cover?"
Gerald is a young-ish Wizard, who is still rather unsuccesfully learning his trade. His spells frequently misfire.
Approximately 15-20 lines. Likely to be a repeat character if further episodes are made.
(Speaking grandly to the Dragon) “Join the court! Be our magical beast!”
"I cast fireball!"
"Behold, my magical shield!" (Fizzles out) "Well... that was... disappointing..."
The Prince is an occasional character. He is well renowned by his enemies, who frequently surrender or run away on sighting him. He's usually quite disappointed, as he wants to prove his worth in actual combat.
I would envisage him as sounding very confident most of the time, but slightly more high pitched and whiney whenever he's annoyed by the lack of a fight.
Approximately 15-20 lines. Likely to be a repeat character if further episodes are made.
(Dramatic announcement) "The raiders will not escape justice!... I ride at dawn."
"You will face me!" (Enemy surrenders) "You haven't even drawn swords..." (more surrender) "...this keeps happening)
"Dragon, face me in honorable combat!" (Dragon leaves) "...That felt... disrespecful..."
The bandit leader is the one who typically interacts with the characters during ambushes, and is at the forefront of Cedric's offers to the bandits.
Approximately 25 lines.
"Give us your gold!"
(confused)"... you sure you're on their side?"
"Stand and deliver!"
These are a handful of lines delivered either by one or a mixture of bandits, who accompany the bandit leader.
"Ambush!"
(Worried Whisper) "It's Oxley!"
(When told all the person they are robbing has left is their dignity) "Urgh... not that..."
The raiders are another threat to the Kingdom, and appear on their longships and leave again frequently. They are scared of the Prince, and disrespectful of Boreas, frequently interupting him.
Despite their appearance, they are actually quite organised and focussed on their raid.
The Raid Leader has a handful of lines.

(Command) "Take everything!"
(On realising there's nothing to take) "...take the carrot."
(Command) "Row faster, we're late!"
Accompanying the raid leader, there are a handfull of lines by individual raiders. They have no respect for Boreas and generally try to just carry on with their raid and ignore his challenges.

(To another, pointing at loot) "Is that valuable?"
(Casually to another, ignoring Boreas) “Keep moving.”
(Confused) "Is this part of the raid?"
Another raider, who will have a handful of lines.
(Kidnapping) “Come! You will sing sea songs and scrub decks!”
(Carrying on, ignoring Boreas challenge) “We’re still kidnapping.”
(Worried shout) "Retreat!"
Appears in a couple of early sketches with the below two lines.

"So my King, the walls are certainly impenetrable to armies or bandits. We just need to work on how to defend against a dragon…"
"Well I must say I have no idea how anything is being stolen from the Castle. Every entrance is secure!"
The peasant woman has a handful of supporting lines, particularly in raider scenes.
(Surprised at being kidnapped and told of her new life) "But I make bread!"
(To rescuer) "Thank you"
"He arrived first"
