Johnny The Homicidal Manic: Comic Dub
Project Overview
Hello, everyone. This project will be a Fan Dub for the comic, Johnny The Homicidal Maniac, created by Jhonen Vasquez. I will be handling the editing, and will be the voice of Johnny. So, this will mostly be for extras/minor characters, I suppose. This will also just be the casting for the first issue of the comic. Johnny The Homicidal Maniac is a Dark Humor based comic, that gets crazier as it goes. It's also a bit psychological, and angsty maybe? If you're sensitive to topics such as suicide, this isn't a project for you (and so I will be putting warnings at the start of each 'episode.') This is a Non-Profit project, and is purely for the sake of dubbing a comic I adore. As I mention in the explainer video, there will be a discord for those who are cast to join, who are welcome to try out for future projects, as the channel will branch out eventually, and work as a sort of Voice Acting group. We will be dubbing all 7 issues of the comic. Another quick warning, this series is very dialogue heavy, so if you have a recurring character, be prepared for that. Squee is a young, easily frightened child, who is constantly being neglected by his parents. He's very whiny, but also submissive.When he's scared, he makes a *squee,* sound, which inspires his name. I imagine the *squee* sound to be a much more subtle thing though, not just flat out openly saying the word.
(Loudly whining, and frightened. Quite a bit paranoid. "But I caaaaaan't! I don't have any curtains on my windows, and I feel like 'things' are watching me!"
(Talking to stuffed animal, calm, and confident, with slight positive inflections.) "No, you're wrong Shmee. They aren't bad people. They love me! They don't REALLY mean it when they tell me to get kidnapped!"
Squee's mother is neglectful, same with his father. She would like to be away from him as much as possible, and doesn't really do much.
(Dejected, and overall uncaring) "Mommy's ignoring you honey. Go bother your father, he's in his study."
Dejected, and neglectful, just like Squee's mother. He seems to resent Squee, and begrudgingly takes care of him. 100% a loser.
(Bitter, but dejected. Subdued.) "I'm busy right now. Working. That's all I seem to do now. I have to work to keep you alive. To feed you. I haven't smiled once since you were born. Go to sleep."
(Same as before, but in a slightly condescending tone, poking fun at Squee's fears.) "Your presence tires me. Go to your room and stay quiet, or the "things" will find you."
Wobbly Headed Bob is a reccurring character that only appears in comic strips. He is a gross little creature that is constantly complaining, thinking he is very philisophical. He is a genius in a world of fools. He uses a LOT of big words. He's usually very down, and emotive on that. Very self pity-ing.
(Crying out to the world) "Oh why must I endure this pain!? Such an unfathomable sorrow! My mind, ravaged by relentless, and ghostly truths!"
(Shouting from afar, grateful, and mildly happy) "You've made me smile! Thank you! Now, farewell! Live long, and suffer few pains, my friend!"
He's just a man conducting a survey. I imagine him with the stereotypical Cars Salesman/Weather Man voice.
(Typical cheerful persona)"Hello Ma'am! I'm conducting a survey for the neighborhood crime council."
(Inquisitive) "So... What do YOU think about murder?"
She's a really worn down middle aged woman.
'Well, I really hate to miss Oprah Windy, but this whole mutilation thing is pretty upsetting."
"Last week I found my husbands headless body nailed to the wall."
He sure is screaming
(Literally just a violent scream as a reaction to being electrocuted)
She's a condescending old lady. May be a bit posh.
(Snarky) "My, you certainly are a WHACKY looking one!"
(Snarky) "I would simply die if my son looked as whacky."
I imagine him with a deeper voice. He's a bit condescending too.
(Annoyed) "So she said 'Whacky,' so what? I mean, just look at you!"
Just a gothic observer, with her gothic observer friend.
(Laid back curiosity) "What's going on?"

(Laid back explanation) "Well, that lady called that guy Whacky"
Just your average News Reporter.
"Police arrived to find him still in the restaurant, covered in gore, eating a taco."
"One sickened officer was quoted as saying, 'It was whacky.' "
Children will be children, and this secret deity in disguise is no exception. I guess he's whiny.
"I'm not lazy, this is how Ms. Chen told us to hold it, so be quiet!"
"So what if YOU'RE Captain, you're still stupid!"

(Disappointed shouting) "Robert, get out here! Your daughter's been fighting again!
Since they only have a single panel of dialogue each, and aren't human, it's hard to say what their characteristics are. I imagine them to be pretty normal sounding though.

Nail Bunny is a deceased bunny that speaks to Johnny, trying to help him. Nail Bunny is the moral compass of Johnnys delusions.
"You bought me at the pet store, fed me once, then nailed me to this wall, three YEARS ago."
"You're not crazy, Johnny! You and I, we're having a perfectly sane discussion, yes?"
Mr. Eff is a doll that speaks to Johnny. He encourages Johnny's murderous behaviors, wanting bloodshed. So, he's a bad influence.
(Antagonizing) "Your infection deludes you! You can wash away every last drop of blood from these walls, but the walls of your mind remain forever stained!"
(Antagonizing) "You are beyond redemption."
Who knows.
"Hey! That show where the whole family gets Diarrhea is on!"
