JOHN GAME
Project Overview
The crossover to end all crossovers.
After a certain person's reckless gambling somehow tanks the economy, 400-something of pop culture's most famous(?) characters have gathered to compete in a series of contests hosted by a mysterious, über-powerful being, all with the promise of winning a cash prize larger than the pissed-away money that started this whole mess. But, as the contestants quickly come to find out, the money won't be the only thing they're fighting for...they're also fighting for their lives.
JOHN GAME is based on this YouTube series titled SuperAndrew418 Squid Game. To provide a cliffnotes, there were supposed to be 456 characters (like the Netflix Squid Game), but after being stuck in development hell the cast was trimmed down to 192, technically 200. JOHN GAME serves as my interpretation of what the show would've been like had it kept the original cast list (plus any of the contestants added in the finalized iteration).
JOHN GAME is a very, very memey series. Every decision, action, and line of dialogue comes from what I think would be funny. If you were expecting something with true substance, go watch the actual Squid Game. Now, you may be wondering why there's only two roles, one of them not being for an actual character. Well, there's over 400 contestants, most of them won't even speak. The host is the only one who's guaranteed to have multiple lines, so he's the only one here. The contestants will speak in voice blips or something I dont know. Besides, I think the fact John gets actual voiced lines helps establish how otherworldly he comes off as.
For requirements, I don't know...just have a Discord account and put it with your auditions? For John you don't even need a decent microphone, since this project is just one massive shitpost. But I must warn you that John will swear in the series, so if you don't like bad words than this ain't the rodeo for you, buddy.
I hope to see your auditions, and remember: JOHN IS ALWAYS WATCHING.
An omnipotent being and embodiment of fiction itself, having existed ever since man started writing stories. John Fiction has the power to travel throughout different universes and affect them however he wishes, though whether their inhabitants enjoy his changes differs between universe. Though a immensely powerful entity, he is also quite psychotic and has no qualms proving his superiority to those who question him.
John's voice is high, childish, and a bit annoying. But when the scene calls for it, he switches to a more natural tone. The most similar voice I've got for him would be Animatic from the series Animatic Battle.
- loud
- androgynous
- energetic
I'm John! John Fiction. I've seen everything you guys have been up to. Even in your most private moments, I'VE BEEN THERE.
(on the verge of tears) W-well, if you're not gonna participate, then I'm gonna CRY! And I—well I cry ACID!
And remember, if you die or fail the challenge, (natural-sounding) you're out of the game. You will never come back as long as you live.
At first, the eliminated contestants seem to die, and indeed, they actually do die. But they are instantly recovered and sent to a huge, ever expanding padded room to spend the rest of the competition in, with nothing but a 24/7 live stream of the most mind numbing, terrible YouTube Kids-esque nursery rhyme videos imaginable to keep them occupied.
The reference track for the song in the episode is here, and the lyrics will be below: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1iPJmScfT-ol4WH2ptrWoLILIoDRKs4Nd/view?usp=sharing
For the singer's voice, try to play up that cheesy kid's show voice you'd hear in an actual content farm nursery rhyme. Like the kind of voice that would drive anyone not in a diaper mad.
LYRICS:
Ten little rhinos playing in a shed
One dropped a hammer on another rhino's head
They called the paramedics and the paramedics said
"Sorry, but this rhino's dead!"
