(Jet Set Radio Audio Drama) Stories From: Tokyo-to

(Jet Set Radio Audio Drama) Stories From: Tokyo-to

Project Overview

"Stories From Tokyo-to" is a world-building audio drama set in the Jet Set Radio Universe. It essentially creates a head cannon and fleshes out the story and characters from the 2000's Dreamcast game. The game's creators designed the characters to be icons in the gaming industry, of course, they had backstories and history, but they kept it out in favor for the player to make them up on their own. And let me tell ya, it worked. "Stories From Tokyo-to" starts off before even the GG's inception. Each part of the following chapters follows one of the founding GG's and their story: Beat, Gum, and Tab. I have a great friend who is fixing up a proper logo and will hopefully be out soon! The series will be posted on the dedicated "Stories From: Tokyo-to" YouTube channel. I can't wait and hope to see this project be fueled by passion and love from the games! Thank you for reading!

Extract from Beats JetSetPedia entry:

"He is a 17-year-old, laid back, and level-headed "Rudie" who ran away from home and helped found the GG’s. Beat loves to skate and is okay with breaking the law...Beat spends his time skating around fighting for turf with the rival gangs of Tokyo-to, marking his territory with graffiti and annihilating others' tags. As graffiti is an act of vandalism and is punishable by law, this attracts the attention of Police Captain Onishima...who relentlessly pursue Beat and his friends."

  • (Enthusiastic) What's up? The names Beat! If skating around, tagging walls, and running from the 'Keisatsu' sounds fun to you, consider joining Shibuya-cho's one and only, GG's!

  • (Heartfelt) Tagging. Graffiti. Art. That was my escape. No one told me if what I was doing was right or wrong. No rules. No restrictions. Just being able to let my paint run wild and perfect the piece I've been working on for years.

Role assigned to: Piper1

Excerpt from Capitan Onishima's JetSetPedia entry:

"Onishima is shown to be exceptionally short-tempered and slightly maniacal, sending whole armed platoons after the GG's or other gangs, ranging from officers, to police dogs, to helicopters armed with missiles, to SWAT, to parachutists with machine guns. He himself uses a large revolver to take out gang members...Onishima is a middle-aged man, wearing a beige detective coat over a white shirt with a crumpled red tie. His pants are brown and he typically carries an oversized revolver...According to the Jet Grind Radio manual, he is exactly 5 feet tall. "

  • (Aggrivated) This is Onishima! Get to the Bus Terminal! Those runts are tearin up the place! Don't let em get away!

  • (Menacing) Your son here was caught vandalizing an abandoned portion of the Rokkaku Railroad System and then fled the scene. If it weren’t for his age and lack of past criminal record he’d be in a holding cell. This is his first and FINAL warning.

Male Voices (Mr. Kurihara + Police Superintendent)

Role assigned to: DeBug

These are simple male voices that are the basis to drive the story forward. For more context: Mr. Kurihara is Beats abusive step-father who just so happens to be a grifter at his hometowns bars and back alleys. The Superintendent is a respectful man whose voice sounds a bit older than Mr. Kurihara.

  • [Mr. Kurihara] (Stern and menacing) No no, he's right. This little punk ass twerp has it all figured out, don’t you? Do you know how this makes me look? How it makes your mother look? Raising a delinquent smart ass… what a disappointment...

  • [Superintendent] You’re probably curious why I called you in. Well as it turns out Capitan Shiba from the Tokyo branch retired and he gave me a personal call to see if there was anyone here to take his place. The boys over at that station are fighting like rabid dogs for his position. Due to your time and experience here, I’d see it fit that you should take his place and oversee all of Tokyo’s local operations.

Mrs. Kurihara is Beat's mother who is in a marital relationship with Mr. Kurihara. She's a loving mother but fails to see how the sudden change in family dynamic affects her son.

  • (Concerned) Tenshiro! Please! Leave Benisu alone!

  • (Distraught) Please stop! You've had too much to drink! It's time for bed Tenshiro! We'll talk to him in the morning!
