Iron Battalion - A Mecha Visual Novel
Project Overview
Iron Battalion is an in-progress Visual Novel that will be released in relatively short chapters, following the story of Ruun Amaveer, a young adult that has recently enrolled into an academy that trains people to pilot Knights, bipedal robots reminiscent of both Western and Japanese Mecha. Iron Battalion is set in a broken planet, now reformed after the world was fractured by a hail of meteor's and seismic activity that brought with them a material commonly referred to as Divinity, a crystalline material that generates solar energy on an extremely efficient level, the world is essentially split into 4 factions, each of them a collection of countries that have drifted into contact with each other, whilst the all out war that followed three of these factions meeting has slowed, there are still infrequent border skirmishes and espionage operations. In recent years, skirmishes have only increased in frequency, with many fearing that all out war will soon return.
Whilst Iron Battalion will offer a number of player choices, this will not be as intricate a web as some novels and will be somewhat linear, making it slightly closer to a Kinetic Novel, even though player choice is important.
New rolls are quickly being added, so please keep an eye out and come back later as a new role might catch your interest.
Regarding Payment: whilst all roles hear are listed as free, I still intend to pay for your work, I intend to work to put together a demo product to showcase on Kickstarter to assist with funding of the project, and although I understand it is quite a bit to ask, I ask that you would be acceptable to work for free until a product is produced worthy of being showcased.
Current character art are placeholders made via BlackRoseMii's "Character Generator" (HERE), I will be looking for a composer and artist at a later date as the project progresses however.

I'm looking for an artist to work on Character Sprites and CG's for the novel. If you're interested, please give me a link to your portfolio so I can see some of your previous work. As a requirement, you will need to be okay drawing some potential gore, action shots for CG's and potentially some vanilla 18+ content.

Ruun is a 16 year old boy, newly enrolled into The International Academy of Knight Operation. With a somewhat sordid history, the boy grew up without a mother, and with a father that was often absent to ensure he could support his son, just over a year prior to Iron Battalion’s story, his father also went missing.
Ruun is a socially inept, hot-headed boy that lets his temper get the better of him. Ruun makes some effort to have a positive outlook on life, even if he knows that there’s a darker side to it.
Ruun’s voice is likely to have the most lines in the entire novel as he is the protagonist from which the viewer sees the story of Iron Battalion, that being said, a particular accent doesn’t matter, though his voice is ideally in a moderate range, not particularly heavy or light.

“What’s that supposed to mean!?” (Slightly offended, after being told he has a face for radio)
“So what! You think you’ve got the moral high ground because you lost someone? Like hell that gives you the right to take lives!”
“I… need a moment… please?... (Standing over the corpse of a friend, addressing a group around him.)
Grigor is a stern ex-soldier and Academy Instructor in his late 40's, He's intelligent, wise and extremely harsh. Whilst there is a soft side to him, this is buried beneath a mountain of various grimaces and scowls. Grigor has a commanding, cold presence and a powerful voice that helps him to silence and verbally overpower unruly students. Unlike many, Grigor is almost completely uncaring regarding such matters as nobility and global politics, only two things matter to him, rank and determination.

"SILENCE!"
"No, Mr Amaveer, your blood means nothing to me, it's how you spend it that does. And you have spent it poorly." (Cold, stern and disappointed)
"I have been far more lenient with your little 'squad' than I ever should have been, it is time to correct that."
A boy of noble birth, Lucas thinks of himself as a little bit better than those around him, and assumes he can breeze through life without any particular difficulty, so far, he's been write in that regard, his money and influence carrying him quite far without any trouble. This has changed somewhat since he decided to go with the flow and follow his father's recommendation to join the Knight Academy, with Grigor putting him in his place on his first day. He still keeps an easygoing attitude, taking as many chances as he can afford, and sometimes can't afford to make bad jokes or just make people uncomfortable.
"Hey my brother from another mother, a little birdie told me you're crushing on one of the girls, c'mon, who is it? You wouldn't keep a secret like that from me would'ya" (Teasing a particularly shy friend)
"Y'know, bodyslamming someone the first time you meet them is generally considered bad form" (Dusting himself off after being slammed into the ground, slightly injured, though still making a joke of it)
"H-Hey... that's just special effects right... right!?" (Shocked, just seen someone die on a monitor)
Kyra is sharp, quick to anger and deceptively strong, a boyish girl with a strong-will and sense of self. Both her exterior and interior are rough, shaped from a history of fighting as a child. Her tongue is as sharp as her mind as well, she's not afraid of cutting someone down with words or a knife, and is effective doing both.
(Stifled Laugh) "You're funny, sorta, you've got a face for comedy at least."
"I'd rather get shot than take orders from that coward!"
(Nervous) "Hey, I need to speak to you for a minute, in private. It's about what you saw last night."
Irina is a girl of short stature but high status, an upper-caste member of Terran society, she’s had a life of riches and wealth, accompanied by disciplinary lessons and training in how to act like a proper woman of her class.
Lessons that she never enjoyed.
Although somewhat haughty and over-serious, Irina is a legitimately kind-hearted person that has been shaped by circumstance and upbringing into a colder persona.
“P, aren’t you going to get my bags?” (Addressing her maid)
“And you expect me to go digging around through a sewer? You must be joking.”
“T-thanks for the help, my name is Irina, it’s been a pleasure.”
Calm, collected and monotone, P is Irina's personal maid who has accompanied her since she was young. This young woman is disciplined and loyal, swinging between courteous and disapproving depending on whether or not she perceives those she encounters as a potential threat to Irina.
I dare not say this in front of my lady, but I smell the wretched stink of sin on you, boy.
Yes milady, I'll be with you right away.
(Angry) How dare you lay hands on the lady Irina!
A wise-cracking young man, Zane is both an international terrorist and avid livestreamer. Although he has had a sordid history, he's decided to take arms against all forms of government and the over-use of Divinity. He often livestreams his attacks, and whilst they are quickly shut down, it isn't long until he finds another platform. Zane is currently the leader of 'Infernal' a terrorist cell that follows in his personal ideals. His bright personality, habit for publicity stunts and relatively non-extremist ideals (albeit upheld with extreme actions) has gained him quite the following.
Zane doesn't see himself as a terrorist (preferring the term 'freedom fighter' or 'activist') and believes his actions are in the right.
Ladies and gentleman! The main course has, unfortunately, been delayed, but let's give you a taste of battle by trashing these killers-in-training!
You've sure grown up, haven't you? You're men and women now, not boys and girls. Which means I'm not gonna spare you anymore!
(Resigned) Look at yourself kid, you're a prototype, a test subject. Made to be replaced.

All students are to exit the train immediately with their luggage and await further instruction from The International Academy of Knight Operation staff.
A minor role with minimal speaking lines, this role is a guard/staff member for the academy, in military dress. Lot's of variation for this one so audition however you feel like.
"Kyra Gardiner to the checkpoint!"
"Put everything on the conveyor, electronics and accessories included."
