InuYasha Manga Dub - 'Tetsusaiga' & 'The Dark Castle' (Chapters 12-22)
Project Overview
Requesting Voice Actors for our weekly dub of the InuYasha Manga!
This time, we're casting the major characters in the 'Tetsusaiga' arc (chapters 12-18) and the 'Dark Castle' arc (chapters 19-22). These characters include:
Izayoi (Inuyasha's False Mother)
A few small scripts have been included for anyone interested in voicing very minor/background characters.
For those unfamiliar with InuYasha as a series, it begins with Kagome Higurashi, a fifteen-year-old middle school girl from modern-day Tokyo who is transported to the Sengoku period after falling into a well in her family shrine, where she meets the half-dog demon, half-human Inuyasha. After the sacred Shikon Jewel re-emerges from deep inside Kagome's body, she accidentally shatters it into dozens of fragments that scatter across Japan. Inuyasha and Kagome set out to recover the Jewel's fragments, and through their quest they are joined by the lecherous monk Miroku, the demon slayer Sango, and the fox demon Shippo. Together, they journey to restore the Shikon Jewel before it falls into the hands of the evil half-demon Naraku.
Role Information
Credits are included at the end of each episode, and we have a casting list in our Discord.
All roles are in the English language, however they may contain some Japanese names or phrases. Pronunciation will be provided by the director but it's not extremely crucial that they're perfect, just mostly consistent with the way others say it.
In the event that you do get the role you wish for, recording is done live over Discord call. If, for any reason, you cannot comply with this, alternatives can be arranged.

Some Final Notes
1). In regards to character voices: we know the anime has a wonderful dub, and our project is not intended to replace that, but give it a new life with new voices, music, and style. As such, when it comes to voicing a character, especially one with a very unique voice (Myoga the Flea, for example), we are not looking for an imitation of their voice in the anime! It doesn’t have to be drastically different, but it should be at least distinguishable. We’re looking for unique voices that still match the characters.
2). As previously mentioned, our Discord Server is the place where we plan our chapters, deliver announcements, and distribute scripts (it's also been an incredibly useful tool for getting to know the people affiliated with the project and we've had a fair bit of fun with it). As such, though it is not required, we strongly recommend you try it out.

Izayoi was shown to be a kind-hearted, gentle, and soft-spoken woman who cared much for her family. She was always portrayed with a solemn, yet graceful appearance.
The Mu-on'na impersonates her to the extent that her own son believes it to be her, so it can be inferred that she would carry over these traits, though not to an extent of autheticity.
[InuYasha is trying to save her from Sesshomaru, she is in chains.] (Pleading in pain) Inu...Ya...Sha... Please don't trouble yourself. I've been dead once anyway.
[They are safe once again, and InuYasha asks her where they are.] At the crossroads between this world and the next. I shall return to the otherworld from here. (Motherly and sweetly) InuYasha... You have grown up splendidly. You were so small when I passed... Forgive me. You must have suffered so.
Kind and gentle and determined to help, he hated killing and bloodshed of any kind. As such, his voice should be gentle, and light enough to display his 16-18 age range.
[His monkey, Hiyashimaru, brings him Kagome's bra, unbeknownst to him.] Aah, you're a good lad, Hiyashimaru. (As he sees the bra, he is surprised) What!? This is not food..!
[Kagome asks him his name, assuming he's from a noble family.] (Humbly) I cannot reveal my title, but I am called Nobunaga.
[Kagome thinks he's the legendary daimyo Oda Nobunaga, and asks if she is correct.] (Sympathetic, as she seemed very excited to meet a hero) I'm sorry but, I am not of the Oda clan. (Solemnly) Time is slipping away, I must be going. I am of the Takeda clan, and I am not pleased to be taken for that "Supreme Idiot". Farewell now, I have a mission to accomplish. [The he walks off a cliff.]
[InuYasha tries to slay the Tsukumo no Gama with his Tetsusaiga, but Nobunaga won't let him.] Sheathe your blade! The lord is trapped within this demon-from but still alive!
[InuYasha argues and threatens to kill them both.] (Determined) I will not move! If there is any hope at all I can save him, I cannot stand by and watch an innocent lord be slain! I'd say the same even if he were a commoner! I simply don't believe in killing! These are bloody times... A hard world may laugh at my naivete, but I still believe...
A gentle, kind and loving person, deeply caring for her friends. As such, her voice should be light, soft, and sweet. Should sound about 16-18.
[She is tending to the Tsukumo no Gama, believing him to be her lord. She is afraid, and believes his deformed body is due to a disease. He asks if she considers his castle her home.] (Holding back fear, nervous) M-My lord... I lack for nothing here... [Thinking to herself] I must not let him hear my fear... I must not let him sense the changes this disease has wrought in him... The growth of his girth, the strangeness in his voice repel me as much as he once attracted me.
[Tsukumo no Gama yells at her for speaking against him, scaring her to cower on the ground.] (Gasp) Y-Your forgiveness, my lord! I... I spoke out of turn. [Thinking to herself] Please... Someone... Anyone... Please help me... Please take me home!
[Nobunaga comes to rescue her, and she is happy and excited to see him again. He asks if she remembers him.] How could I ever forget you? (Genuine, but unintentionally almost mocking) To me, you can only be a kind ang gentle childhood friend. I remember how you'd fall in the pond or slip on horse manure. You'd always make me laugh! (Tearing up) I wish I could go back to those days...
An evil frog demon, probably a rather hoarse and deep voice, menacing.
[Impersonating the lord, he is flirting with Princess Tsuyu, though she is scared of him.] My little dew-drop~ Have you come to see the castle as your home now? [She returns some niceties] Huhh huhh... A sweet sound to my ears...
[She mentions something secret that angers him] (Angrily slamming the ground, menacingly) It is not for you to know!!!
[He is fighting InuYasha, and he begins to devour the souls of the maidens.] (Weakly) Huhh... I am dying... A soul... I need a soul... Hehh... My girls are good to me. (Threatening) Come! Slice me once again! The more you slice, the more I'll devour.
[Nobunaga holds Tsuyu to protect her, and Tsukumo no Gama gets extremely upset.] (Menacing, yelling) Take your hands off my wife!
[InuYasha hits him and he feints that his human conciousness returns as he sees the kidnapped maidens in bubbles.] (Inauthentically Solemn) Did I... Did I do this? What... Horrible deeds... What deeds have I done..? When that demon first possessed me, I retained my human consciousness... Then I lost even that. Please... Kill me. [He reveals it was a trick as InuYasha was attempting to kill him] (Menacing) Hehh hehh... Going to finish me off, were you? My turn now... [To Kagome] I'll begin with you, pretty maiden...
For background characters, North American accent preferable, anyone 14~ or older as long as you don’t sound too young, unless the character in mind is a child (Rin, for example).
For Minor Villains, any accent is welcome, as it might add a certain spin or uniqueness to the character that the original dub may not have had.
[As a (likely male) Villain’s Henchman, delivering bad news about their defeat] (Disappointed but Urgent) Boss - bad news! They’re getting away with the Jewel, and they killed 30 of our men! Please don’t be mad...
[As one of Kagome’s girl-friends upon hearing more news about Inuyasha] (Surprised, Swoon) Really? He seems like such a baddie! It’s a shame you seem to hate him so much, haha! And what’s that whole thing with the other guy, the one you said was his brother? Didn’t you say he tried to kill you?!
[As a random background villager (any gender) pointing out the threat at hand to our main characters] (Shouting, Afraid) Look! It’s a youkai [or demon]! He’ll kill us all!
Wow, that hanyou [or half-demon] just killed it with a single blow! And did you see his sword? This guy’s powerful!
