In Transit
Project Overview
“Good Morning, Eurus.”
Aboard the spaceship Eurus, things are optimal. Oxygen supplies are at 80%, crops are thriving, and the three-year journey through the NGC 6210 nebula is going smoothly. Everything is set for a successful pilgrimage to continue the survival of the human race.
Only, when a series of murders occur onboard - mirroring distressing radio signals from Eurus’ sister ship, Notus, Officer Alecto McAlpine finds herself lost in the middle of a conspiracy. With the begrudging help of low-level communications coordinator Cairo, they begin to find that the ship’s journey is the least of their concerns.
The World of Eurus
One of four ships sent from Earth to colonise a distant planet, Eurus has been traversing through the cosmic ocean for well over a thousand years. Currently run by Commander Solea Langley, the ship is split into two quarters; the White - the upper class - and Red - the lower class. Order is maintained by Officers from the White Quarter, with a specific subsection of cryogenically frozen individuals known as Sentinels tasked with important jobs aboard the ship.
About Auditions
Auditions will close on the 15th of November.
Auditions can be sent in by emailing [redacted] with audio files for whichever character you choose to audition for, or by sending an audition here! When auditioning, please send up to three takes if you please! There are no limitations on which characters you can audition for. When sending in your audition, please include your name, pronouns, contact information (ie: email or social media) in the comments of your audition well as any other information you’d think is helpful!
Auditions are open for any actor regardless of prior experience. Acting quality will be prioritised over mic quality, but please assure there’s as minimal background noise as possible. Communications will primarily be done through Discord, with rehearsed cast readings for each episode. Therefore, please be aware that rehearsals will operate in GMT time.
As this project is just for fun, unfortunately you will be unpaid :(

And with that, all the roles have been casted! Thank you so much to every single person who sent in an audition, you were all absolutely fantastic and it was a very difficult decision to make. If you'd like feedback on your audition, please don't hesitate to message me! Also, keep your eyes on your DMs, as we're looking for a few other non-auditionable roles to be filled. Update #1
Hi all! First of all, I want to say a massive thank you for the turnout. Between this website and from other parts of social media, In Transit has had over eighty auditions. To update; the first episode is already fully written and edited, and the next two episodes are in the process of being completed by the time auditions close. There are only four days left until auditions close, so if you're planning on sending anything else in, please do so soon! Auditions close at 12pm GMT on the 15th of November, and I hope to have the casting results out by 6pm GMT, so please, keep your eyes peeled. As always, please feel free to message me if you have any questions x
The split-protagonist of In Transit, Alecto is a member of the military aboard Eurus, known as a Sentinel. Trained until adulthood, and then cryogenically frozen, Sentinels are only awoken hundreds of years later, where no traces of their loved ones remain, ensuring a one-hundred-percent dedication to the ship. Alecto is a straight-lined young woman, very dedicated to her job, occasionally coming across as a bit too eager to please. Alecto seems almost robotic, both in her mannerisms, and also in her interests; she doesn’t seem to have any need for joy or friendships. It’s only when she’s exposed to the broader horizons of Eurus that she begins to realise that she can be a person first, and a Sentinel second.
Looking for a calm, cool and almost robotic voice, but can convey a wide variety of emotions.
(Eager) Alecto McAlpine. You’ll see there, my credentials are exemplary. Commander Carmondy - that was the Commander at the time - recommended me for the programme. Two years earlier than usual, as well. I’m sorry - is that boastful? I haven’t spoken to anyone in a while.
I’m afraid I can’t join you. (Beat) Oh, well, I’m not sure. It’s not necessary, is it? (Beat) I suppose you’re right. I’ve never quite had fun before.
I think it’s rather imperative you let me in. (Beat) Well, if you won’t, I will simply stand here until you grow so tired by my presence that you have to give in. (Pleasantly) I’ve found it’s worked on many occasions.
The second protagonist of In Transit, Cairo is a low-level employee from the Red, working in communications. He’s a fairy lackadaisical young man, with a sharp tongue that doesn’t seem to stop talking, no matter if other people care about what he’s saying or not. Coming from a background of hardships, Cairo has little sympathy for the White, and is known as a bit of a troublemaker in his circles. While his job normally consists of managing in-ship communications, when glitches in the system lead to him receiving transmissions from Eurus’ sister ship, he finds himself in far worse trouble than the kind he usually gets himself in. He swears. A lot.
Looking for a very emotive voice, mid-range, who can change from nonchalant to serious easily.
Ziggy, look at me in the eyes and tell me you actually give a shit about what some assholes in the White think? I know you. You’re better than that.
What the fuck is this shit? Is someone pulling some kind of prank? I swear to god, if it’s Winnie Burnsides fucking with me again I will end her no-good, pathetic life.
Can you cut it with the whole ‘my duty’ schtick? Okay, we get it, you’re a fucking wierdo Alecto. You’re not better than the rest of us just because Langley picked you herself. Now come on.
Cairo’s friend, a resident of the Red Quarter who is involved in a number of fairly illicit activities, involving the smuggling of drugs and rationed supplies. Ziggy is a fairly paranoid person, and they’re usually very against Cairo’s more outlandish schemes - preferring to keep to the more boring side of ‘illegal’. They can be a bit dry-witted and sarcastic, and are usually the first to shoot down a plan they think is stupid. They are very cautious around the White Quarter, and are fiercely protective over their small-knit group of friends.
Any range voice, looking for an actor that can carry a dry, deadpan tone easily.
How many times do I have to tell you, I don’t care how much bullshit you find yourself in, I’m fine as long as you don’t bring it to me. And what happens every time? I somehow find you at my door, begging for help because you’ve found yourself in trouble you can’t get out of yourself.
You’re too harsh on her. She might think she knows what she’s doing, but she’s got the least of an idea about what’s happening than all of us.
Lucky you brought me along, eh? Come on, admit it. You missed me.
An Officer-in-training aboard Eurus - he takes Alecto under his wing and acts as her guide to all things new aboard the ship. Sawyer is very proud to be an Officer and has big dreams, but isn’t very good at his job, as much as he thinks he is, especially compared to Alecto. He looks down on the Red Quarter and thinks that they cause more trouble than they’re worth, and has the tiniest bit of a superiority complex. When he’s tied into the whole mess, he’s at first very hesitant and annoyed, but eventually realises that there are far more important things at play.
Looking for a mid to low range voice, fairy haughty, who can carry comedic beats well.
I just saw you, at that table, all lost and helpless - and, well, I thought to myself, someone like that needs a friend like me. I mean, anyone would need a friend like me, but you especially. The name’s Sawyer.
No, I definitely did the exact same as her! You just weren’t looking! (Beat - indignant) You know what - that’s fine, you can underestimate me all you want. We’ll see who’s laughing when it comes down to it.
Alecto, are you out of your mind? These are criminals! They’ve swayed you in some way, I’m sure of it! What have they promised you? Because whatever it is, it’s not worth it.
The leader of Eurus, Commander Langley is a very disciplined and detached woman. She has taken a vow of solitude - not to marry, nor have children while she leads Eurus - and word is that she’s currently looking for someone to replace her, as she grows older. She’s a fairly enigmatic person, not much is known about her, apart from her apparent love of classical music. She takes a personal interest in Alecto and her position on the ship, and appears to wish to take on some kind of motherly role. As the show goes on, and Eurus becomes more unstable, Commander Langley begins to crack under the pressure.
Looking for a mid-to-low voice, cool and professional, with slight menacing tones.
Top scores in all your exams, skipped two years ahead - these are all very impressive records, Alecto.
This was my decision, and my decision alone. Everyone else disagreed. They told me to find someone more suitable. But I ignored them. Don’t make me regret that decision.
I’m in charge here. Don’t forget that.
A young lady who has recently moved from the White to the Red, due to a familial demotion. She finds herself working as a hostess in a bar, but finds herself in more trouble than she’s signed up with when she’s caught up in a series of murders that rock the ship. Ginger is a soft-spoken person who is quite shy around strangers and takes a while to get out of her shell. She struggles heavily moving across the ship and is mistrusting of most people.
Looking for a mid-to-high voice, soft and cautious.
I’m sorry, you’ve got the wrong person - I’ve got to go.
But why me? Out of everyone on this ship, I’m unremarkable. I’m nobody. I’m not important. I just don’t get it.
I don’t want to do it anymore. Nobody seems to get that. Nobody considers how I feel about this. I don’t want to be here anymore, I want to be home.
The voice of a series of messages received from Eurus’ sister ship, Notus. At first the messages come in very serious and professional, but as time goes on, the person behind them starts to show more of their personality; their worries and life. The messenger is a determined, hardworking person who is tied to their cause. Their name and more of their personality is revealed throughout the show.
Looking for a voice with very high levels of professionalism, who can carry a sense of dread.
It’s 8:31 am aboard the Notus. The year is 3021. I don’t know who you are, or where you are, or if you’re listening to me at all. But if you are - this is important. We need your help.
Don’t listen to them. It doesn’t matter what they say, or what they promise you - it’s all lies. Trust me on that. Believe me. I know all I can give you is my word, but if I had the choice, I promise I would give you more. I just hope it’s enough.
You’re not alone. I might be, but you’re not. Take solace in that.
A navigator on Eurus, while he is fairly minor at the start of the show, Moretti plays a bigger part later on. As a navigator, he works in close contact with Commander Langley and spends most of his time in the ship’s hub. He’s a fairly dry man, and isn’t really connected to what goes on the ship - he considers most of that beneath him.
Looking for a mid-to-low voice, fairly rough and full of himself.
I haven’t met a Sentinel since - when was it? 08’, maybe? We must be in some deep shit. Oh, I know, you’re not at liberty to answer that. Just messing with you. (Beat) Jeez, you picked a right aloof one, Langley.
Can’t do. Nebula’s screwing with the communications. We’re in the dark for this one.
I need a drink...
