How It Happened (Edwardian Ghost Story Audio Drama)

How It Happened (Edwardian Ghost Story Audio Drama)

Project Overview

I am making an audio adaption of a short supernatural story by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle entitled "How It Happened", originally published during the First World War at the end of what may be considered to be the Edwardian era. This story is considered to be about willful masculine pride, and could also be recognized as a warning about the perils of driving at night and in an unfamiliar vehicle

A central theme in this story is loyalty and companionship, and, of course, the afterlife.

This will be published on both the website No Place Like Holmes and Youtube.

Actors will have their links/sites plugged in the video and on the NPLH website as well as getting a glowing recommendation on CCC from myself.

For the extras and one liners, what you submit in your audition would potentially be the final piece used if done well enough - so please give it your all! Please include what you want to be credited as if chosen with your entry for these roles.

Thank you for taking the time!

Loyal Driver to Lord Lochleed. Worked for him for many years. I envisioned him from the East End (Cockney) but open to other British accents too.  Very loyal. Strong willed enough to challenge a bad decision, but knows his role, and will bow down to his employer's wishes.

  • Excellent your Lordship, goes like a dream.

  • I wouldn’t advice it sir, even at this pace, we might find ourselves toppling over. It’s quite a slope.

  • Perhaps it is better if Icarry on driving just now, sir. The gears are not the same as the old one. Takes a bit of adjustment, even for an experienced driver such as myself.

Upper class lady of Leisure. This line is shouted as she is driven past our main characters in a teasing fashion.

  • "Is that a new car Lochleed? Or a horse? You're going so slow I can't tell! Hahahahaha. Step on it Jenkins"

Crowd gathering at a car crash. Concerned, panicking, muttering. The above are examples. Please feel free to ad-lib based on the above and scenario.

  • "Oh my Goodness..."

  • "Is he ok?"
    "What happened?"
"Someone run and fetch the Doctor"
    "Is he alive?"
"No way he could have survived that"
